Toys R Us

Talk about Toys R Us... Good or Bad

  1. Started by dday0606,

Been a couple weeks since the last real sale at TRU. Anything people are targeting tomorrow with the 20% sale + 10% CC + 8% reward point + GC combo? My local TRU's have jacked up the price of both Star Wars and DC sets 10% so I find it difficult to get excited about sets from those lines. They didn't raise the Friends sets though and the little animal sets (41087 Bunnies, 41088 Puppies, 41089 Foal) caught my eye. However, having boys at home I have no exposure what-so-ever to the Friends line.

  2. When I started seriously investing in Legos my trips to TRU became more and more frequent and so did my anger and frustration with their pricing. TRU seems less like a toy store and more like and an airport gift shop. I mean does anyone there know what they charge EVERYWHERE OUTSIDE OF THEIR STORES???? With the internet so readily available and even the average consumers becoming ninja-like in their ability to find the cheapest prices how can a bunch of suits sit around in an office and think they can get away with marking up their prices sooooooooooooooo much??? If this wasnt the worst bit of it then comes the sales??? I ask what is the point of a sale when any and eve…

I just hit my local TRU and was excited to see a Vampyre Castle and Vampyre Hearse on the shelves. Scanned them and was happy to see the price of $50 and $20. So brought them home but now realize I was stupid and didn't look at the seals. They were both opened and scotch taped. Of course all of the minifigures were taken out. Just return them right? Or worth hanging on to even without the minifigs at that price? Think pretty much all of the value is in the minifigs, I'm not a parter outer so don't know too well.

Can someone tell me why TRU thinks this is acceptable, and to charge over MSRP on top of this? I hope TRU goes out of business soon!

  8. Check out my Black Friday shipments of Helm's Deep from TRU: All boxes crushed, a few with holes in them, one box's seals totally popped off. After opening the shipping box up completely it was easy to see why this damage may have occurred - the box chosen to package the items was completely too large for the sets, leaving a large amount of space for them to move and be damaged during transit. More surprising to me was the fact that there was absolutely no packing material placed into the box to buffer and keep the packages from moving about. Anyone who has ever shipped a package knows enough to add filler or bubble wrap to a shipment to make sure t…

Saw a flat of Lego at my TRU today and looks like the Bricktober sets are similar to last year's. Sorry if this is already posted, couldn't find anything on my phone.

WOO HOO!!! http://trus.imageg.net/graphics/media/trus/030113F_ViralCoupon.pdf?ab=TRU_Header:Home-Page remember to bring a copy of the same lego set you want from walmart or target (will be cheaper) and then slap them with this.

Just got an email with a 20% off your next toy purchase read all the fine print it does say excludes hard to find. But doesn't say it is just for one item and not sure if it stacks with current lego sale. Anyone else get one?

  12. Just went to a local Toys R Us thinking about buying a Vamp Castle for Clearance. Saw that they had the new 2014 Hobbit sets out. And to my surprise, the 217 peice one costed $20! The 700+ piece on costed $69.99 Is this an anomaly or is it that they going forward will price like everyone else?

  13. TRU has a 15% off promo going from 8/11 to 8/17. It includes all lego sets except for sale items (those with a list price crossed out and another price above it) and this sale includes hard to find items. The promo code is EXTRA15. Note that it is very likely that your online purchase when entered will not honor the discount. But if you call TRU at the time you are ready to place the order, they will process it correctly. If you call TRU after, they will likely give you a credit once the order processes. I went through this process and spent several hours just making sure that this promo is legit. This is actually a good deal for some sets that typically do not g…

  14. Today I found about these at TRU marked down to $23.99. Is this a good deal and will these sell next Christmas even though they are 2012?

I have three TRU orders in "Item located in stock" status. Two of these orders are for not-yet released sets (Rapunzel and Friends Beach House), so I'm thinking there's less than a 5% chance these ship in the next day or two. Has anyone had any order cancelled when in the "Item located in stock" status?

  16. Well I went to the Lego Store at Annapolis Mall in Md today, got there about 10:30 so I ran across the street at the Toys R Us to see what the $25 off Lego Sale looked like, Well I was shocked check out some of these prices of these Lego sets, The Manager said all these prices were done 10 days ago. Now if you scanned them it took $25 off, 1-jabba's Palace $164.99 2-Malevolence $164.99 3-Vampire's Castle $131.99 4-Falcon 7965- $179.99 5-Helm's Deep $154.99 6-Ninjago 9450 Epic Dragon -$164.99 7-Volkswagon Camper -$149.99 8-Batman 6860 Cave-$99.99 9-Friends Olivia's House $99.99 10-Friends 3185 Summer Camp $149.99 And the List can go on and on.

  17. Started by dday0606,

I wanted to start a new discussion thread for whenever TRU has an interesting sale crossing with "CC Thursday". I am hoping to get opinions on what people will be buying (if anything) in-store during the confluence of savings events. This week's sale for those hiding under a rock is 20% off all Minecraft and City Sets. The price adjustment for this week will be: 1 x 80% x 90% (CC discount) x 92% (rewards) = 66.24% There are other price considerations/strategies that I will ignore since they will depend upon your own situation. Everyone can do their own math to add/subtract these factors: 1. sales tax 2. partial pay with gift cards 3. The curre…

I started this discussion in the daily deals forum today but finally found the right forum for it.. I tried returning some lego i bought at a higher price earlier (with receipt and within their 90 day window). When the associate rings up the return, the register spits out a message saying "customer's return limit has been reached." He said he's never seen this on a "with receipt" purchase, although he's seen it on people without receipt trying to use an ID card to return. I originally paid with a credit card and the system won't refund me. The supervisor came over and all they can do (or figure out) is to ring up the return as if it is a no-receipt return (witho…

  19. Page 12 has the best Lego sale's. It says 1 set per customer. And on the $10 gift card, you have to wait 6 hours before you can use it. So $79.99 for the Gunship is a great deal.http://bfads.net/Black-Friday/Toys-R-Us/Ad

  20. I know there is a Posting for the Toys R US 50% sale, But I went over to the Store and the Lone Ranger Train set is at Retail $99.99 so bought 8 of them $635.92 with tax, so about $79.00 a set not bad, I would of gotten more but that was all they had, will go to a few more stores Monday, Here is the store receipt below.

Noticed something curious over the last few weeks of lego shopping. I always have my phone with me--to check online prices, ebay values, and of course brickpicker values. I get absolutely full signal in Walmart, Target, Kmart, Kohls, malls, pretty much everywhere...and at all of their locations I visit...save this sub forums namesake. I thought it was odd---as soon as you walk in the door, no signal--and I mean none. I was visiting a couple toysrus in other parts of the state---and another state---and same thing. As soon as you walk into toysrus and get 10-20 feet from the door---you lose complete signal. Is this a coincidence? It is illegal to block cell…

Toys R Us announced Wednesday that it would expand its price-match guarantee to include online retailers including Amazon.com, Walmart.com, Target.com and BestBuy.com, among others. The aim, according to the release, "Removing any doubt before holiday shopping begins in earnest that customers are receiving the best available prices." Perhaps this means there won't be any more over MSRP!

I have gathered that TRU coupons are sent, seemingly randomly, by mail to members, but I'm wondering what I can do with the codes posted in the Daily Deals thread. I'm assuming I can't just walk into my TRU with the codes written on them and use them. Or can I?
