(i know it could retrire any day now blah blah blah and box condition supposedly doesn't matter. My customers do care about box condition, and this one is far from acceptable.) Good for you for sending that crap back! 250 is alot of coin to be getting a box that looks like that.
December 2, 201510 yr Mine were sent with damage. I can tell because there isn't any damage to the outside box but yet the items are thrashed. If i knew I could get a replacement I would send back but since I was on the cusp I'll keep them. I can build the one and other wasn't quite as bad. I usually send back but recently I've sent so much back it's getting a bit maddening! Edited December 2, 201510 yr by conceptmachine

December 10, 201510 yr One just sold on eBay uk for 290 quid. Used ones seem to go for 150-160 Edited December 10, 201510 yr by Pjking
December 17, 201510 yr What's everyone's take on this set retiring? I don't have one but have an opportunity to buy an opened but sealed bags one for $200.
December 17, 201510 yr I like it. Its unusual but still a cool looking ship. I could do without the extra nonsense like the black cubes (sorry I didn't see the movie and don't plan on it). I have one to build and one to sell. I don't foresee it bringing big returns though. Maybe $400-450 a few years down the road
December 17, 201510 yr Poor set.. i feel bad for it. I like it...but seems like nobody else does. Oh well...

December 18, 201510 yr This set is not a poor set, it is awsome, I have built one, and it's a heck of a ship. It's a must if you have a collection of boats in my mind. Already at 400$CDN on bricklink

December 21, 201510 yr Am I seeing the prices correctly on UK Amazon for this set now that it is retired? If so then that is an easy double right out of the gate. Anyone care to proffer an opinion?

December 21, 201510 yr That is what I'm getting it? If these are real selling prices, I will be visiting amazon right away.
December 21, 201510 yr Exactly, still plenty left in shops around here and Ebay recent sales are around 300 euros vs 250 RRP. Unhoarded and unloved.
December 21, 201510 yr Unhoarded is the best thing about the set. While everyone sinks their money in red 5 and death stars more and more Sea Cows are getting played with and getting sucked up into roombas.
December 21, 201510 yr I bought a handful of these but i'm not optimistic. I can't think of the type of people what would pay top dollar for this. I also don't think there is a broad enough audience to quickly scoop up the low hanging fruit. I think its an intriguing set but intriguing isn't enough for most people to throw $500 at it... Time will tell.

Tragically, 10240 is selling for 10% above RRP and hasn´t yet retired in Europe and DS has only been gone a week and is 20% up. Seacow has absolutely no chance of the returns of those two sets as the buying public just isn´t wide enough - low suppy, low demand. Get one well reduced and you are in a good position, though.
December 21, 201510 yr I have one for my personal collection. Beautiful set. Perhaps a future collector might feel the same and pay a large amount but at the $250 price point, it's going to be tough to get much of a return. Either way, I'm happy that it's in my collection.
