Used ones can still be found for as little as 100 euros so maybe get one of those to build and keep the mint one.

Sales on eBay are flirting with $400. This set continues to appreciate nicely.

apart from the sticker, are there many pieces that are rare/expensive?

anyone have a spare 10225 sticker? LEGO Shop at Home keeps turning me down since i bought it from eBay. =(

Well but LEGO wouldn't retire it before the new movies! That wouldn't make any sense!

I'm not selling via amazon and on ebay germany you can still get these for arount 300. I hope the new movies will help this one rise to 400 on ebay, then I'll sell the rest of mine.

Either one of those would be fantastic, and it would definitely drive the demand for R2.

Well everyone...when will the real FUN start with good ole R2? We're closing in on $400 USD on the bay aren't we? It's almost Dec 1st...when's the xmas mad-dash about to begin!

I think holders of this guy are doing the waiting game and looking at eachother. I really have no clue how much this little guy has been hoarded.

Seriously, R2 has appreciated well since the summer and I agree with you that the big players are waiting till the double RRP mark at least. I only have one and  I am tempted to sell this winter as you never know what will happen after the movie fever.

 

Yeah... there is a certain risk involved. as I've said before. Imagine in the new movie R2 gets himself killed in a stupid way he could become the clown of the movie. And nobody wants a clown.

Jek Porkins´ X wing is doing alright. I think it´s more the idea that the market will get flooded and there will be a race to the bottom. Same regarding SSD.

I really don't know if R2 will "die" in SW 7 (if a robot can die..), but if he does, I'm sure it will be an heroic or very sad death (saving a friend, or rusting abandonned by everyone). SW fans will love him even more !
