Hi all, Pretty new investor here and needed some feedback regarding popped seals. As documented pretty well, recent boxes like Tower of Orthanc and Tumblers have come with iffy seals, and sure enough I have received my fair share of popped seals. Do you all have a separate stash just for popped seals, or do any of you try to "repair" it because you are positive that it is not missing any pieces? I've had a couple seals pop with literally the slightest graze of my sleeve. Painful to not be able to sell them as MINT when the seals were weak to start with. Does everyone just bite the bullet and sell it for less? …

I knew it! All along I have been very outspoken about how I believe that Lego's "Retiring Soon" tag was a load of garbage to boost sales on slow moving sets. I always maintained that the tag was "conveniently" omitted from being included on sets that people actually want. Tonight, I got my proof... 6858 - Catwoman's Catcycle City Chase has been "Temporarily out of stock" forever now. Some time today, the status went from that directly to "Retired Product." Where was the "Retiring Soon" warning??? Nevermind the fact that this set has been out for about a year and nine months, there still should have been a tag on it if it was about to retire. For the reco…

After reading Mos Eisley's excellent article "LEGO Storage Wars" back in July when I joined Brickpicker and after seeing Ed Mack's Lego stacked office on the USA Today video I thought it would be nice to start a thread where brickpicker members can upload pictures and videos of how they successfully store there Lego collections. This will help others and new investors get new ideas and gain knowledge of how to properly store Lego whether they are just starting out or have been collecting for years. I will try to have some pics of my collection up soon. Everyone is welcome to upload photos of their collections and comment on them anytime!

I am new to the forum and look forward to lany kind of Lego information I can get. I acquire my Lego at retail, clearance sales or finding them at Yard/Garage sales. I go to sales every Saturday to look, not only for Lego, but for other non-Lego items to sell on eBay. I find mostly loose Lego parts. Recently I have had two really super Lego finds. At one sale, I found a plastic trash bag full of unopened factory bags of Lego parts. Recognized them as parts of a 31313 EV3 Robot set. Asked how much? Guy says 10 bucks. I say "sold." Took it home and poured the bag out. It turned out to be a 100% complete EV3 with all parts sealed in poly bags like they left the fa…

  5. Interesting read on collector bubbles: The Art of Bubbles: How Sotheby's Predicts the World Economy Are record-setting auction prices a leading indicator of economic collapse? Some experts think so. And they're looking at China, whose blaze of auction records is looking eerily reminiscent of 1987 Japan and 2007 America. Just wondering what the majority of you guys use in terms of Postal services. I've been previously using Royal Mail but the prices seem to have rocketed of late (been out of the game for a bit and they've jumped since i was last selling). Ideally a service which doesn't gobble up all of the profit but at the same time doesn't have a history of losing/damaging the precious lego sets! Edit - UK services not US

  9. I have been looking at collecting legos for a while and was just wondering about the sets more gear towards adult collectors. Is seem all of the "hard to find sets" (lego website) are pretty much in the model number 10XXX range. Is that number range as of right now pretty much assigned to low production (not in retail usually), generally large sets, and aimed at the adult builder and/or collector? When does the ebay price data get updated on the site? B.R. Totoro

Hello my Lego Brothers and Sisters... I joined the Lego VIP program awhile back and do a good bit of shopping on the site, but I'm going to start having the opportunity to go to various Lego stores in my travels (yay!) and I have a newbie-store-shopper question: If I purchase $75, I get a free hot dog cart on the site. I know that holds true in the stores, too, but what happens if I purchase $150? Do I get two hot dog carts (I don't when I order online, it's one per order, so I place orders every $75 or as close as I can hit it). At the stores, is my best bet to just go through the line two or three (or a dozen... changing my clothes if necessary and wea…

  12. How many of a set are help by BP'ers, in total? So, maybe 300 members own Pet Shop, but between them, they own 5,000 copies...anyway to query that data in general? Thanks! TNB

Inspired by Brickset, what was your favourite theme of they year? You can vote once and it should be based on the quality of sets RELEASED this year in that theme and not on how older sets are doing investment wise.

I was intrigued by quite a few foriegn LEGO sets. Does anyone have any advice into international LEGO purchases, or if they are even a good investment? I have yet to attempt to acquire a foreign set but would love to get any feedback on the topic.

My husband has done wiring to some of our lego display sets so that they light up (Trevi Fountain, specifically). When we build the Ferris Wheel, he has big plans to do the same. However, these would work way better than wires. i-Brix: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1426110532/i-brix-wireless-lighting-system-for-lego-building Anybody heard of them?

Had a great thrift store find but I am kicking myself. Stopped by a Goodwill yesterday, they had 5 bags of Lego's for $10 each. Could tell there were mega blocks mixed in, couldn't see any minifigures, nothing stood out other than a basketball set. I was certain that the parts of sets were mixed through all five bags. I picked the two biggest bags, that seemed to have the most actual Lego bricks, made the purchase and drove 90 minutes home. I figured I would sort them out and toss them in the Lego bin. While sorting I punched in some numbers to see what sets the odd pieces belonged to, here is what I found: 7163 Republic Gunship (I have very few white piece…

  18. I am still a rookie at this game and so far I've been doing alright with just selling sealed sets. However, when I run some numbers on Bricklinks, it seems parting out some sets can be very lucrative. However, I have to factor in the time it takes to sort out the pieces and the amount of time I will be sitting on bricks and cost of storing these bricks. Does the opportunity cost out weights sitting on some exclusive sets/modulars? So I want to know how long were you in this investing game before you dive into selling parts? How well have you been doing? What tips you got for the newbies in picking the right sets and general advice? Thanks in advance!

  19. Hi there, I know this will vary by set, but there's so much data out there now, I was wondering if anyone had done an analysis to see when a set peaks/levels out. It seems like the anecdotal evidence says about 2 years after retirement, but would be interested to read if anyone had anything statistical. Thanks! TNB

I recently discovered the "world" of Lego Investors...before I was only a user I bought several item (monster fighters, ninjago, LoTR, HPotter) and know I need an advice (and an opinion) What should I've to buy between this items? 70503 The golden dragon 9450 Epic dragon battle 10218 Pet shop 9516 Jabba's palace 10211 Grand Emporium 10193 Medieval market 6857 Dinamic duo 10223 Kingdom joust 10225 R2-D2 6860 Batcave And what are the reasons why should I'v to buy one rather than another? Other question: what does "discontinued" means? Thanks a lot... p.s. sorry for "My english" but I'm italian and I don't speak/write english very well

  21. This is mostly academic, since I am sure the amount of actual price realization will be small: But for just giggles, if you had to choose ONE of the following sets to get 20 of for investing, which would you get - and why? (Assume you were paying $10 a piece) 79005 - LOTR - Wizard Battle 76008 - Super Heroes: Iron Man Vs. Mandarin Ultimate Showdown 75000 - Star Wars Clone Troopers vs. Droidekas 75001 - Star Wars Republic Troopers vs Sith Troopers

  24. I can’t really find a good pricing for used 2007 falcons. Not many are being posted to eBay right now. I think the new one looks better, but do y’all think over time when they’re both retired the 2007 will be pricier than the current? What’s the consensus too just on the sets themselves? Which one do y’all like better?

  25. Seeing how we are well within the year which shall be closing in just a few months, how about a little poll to gauge public opinion on each and every offering for the year of 2013. Notice: All themes listed as well as the questions posed are only for anything released in 2013 with the odd exception of The Hobbit - An Unexpected Journey as those sets were released right at the tail end of 2012 at the beginning of December making them more of 2013 sets really. The theme of Creator also covers it's subtheme of Expert, and the two factions in Super Heroes are separate because of the complete diversity each one has. This is a multiple choice poll so you are able to sel…
