Hi all. First off, let me apologise for this long post! A few months ago, a work colleague mentioned that there was a Lego version of the Ghostbusters Ecto-1 available. After looking at it online, I decided that I just had to have one, being a fan of the movie(s), and having fond memories of playing with Lego as a child. Soon after, I was looking around a local shopping centre and came across an independent toy shop that had large range of Lego sets, including the Ecto-1. Bought it, built it, and got the bug all over again! It then turns out that the work colleague is actually a part-time Lego investor/reseller, who makes a decent amount in his spare tim…

Hi All, My name is Will I have always love lego but growing up I never get a chance to own any. But ever since a month ago when my friend told me about investing in Lego. It got me looking into it more. Initially I wanted to just invest to flip but I'm becoming more of a collector now. My first set is the Petshop I got a month ago and since then I ordered more, in my personal collection so far I have the Petshop, Grand Emporium, Fire Brigade, Volkswagen. UCS Tumbler ( might hold on it to flip), ghostbuster. I'm planning to order the rest of the modular sets. This is a really expensive hobby but I love it. I'm hoping to get into investing to at least pay for the sets I …

Hey guys, I'm new here. I've collected all kinds of things over the years, and I just learned about Lego collecting. It sounds interesting to me, and I'm especially interested in finding vintage sets and maybe even the first legos made. I'm writing a book about collecting, and thought I should try my hand at this. I have to confess that I didn't realize there was such a thriving population of lego collectors. I have a million questions...so I hope I can get over the five approved post hurdle soon. Regards, Steve

Hello all--I've been "lurking" for a few weeks and picking up little nuggets of knowledge. I've bought and sold Lego (mostly to support my own Lego hobby, a minor one compared to most), for about 10 years. This is the first time I've seriously considered a plunge into full scale investing. Anyway... good to be here.

OK, I should have posted here first, instead of posting a n00b question in another topic. I use to love legos as a kid and had maybe 1 or 2 cheap 100 piece sets, since that's all my poor family could afford. Well now I got sucked back in with these niche detailed sets, like the Mini Cooper and the VW Camper. And you can guess the rest... which is why I'm here now. Thanks for reading!

Hi I'm a new Lego enthusiast at the moment investing in large quantities of second hand lego for personal collection and some resale. Live in Melbourne , Australia. Originally from Mexico 28yo 2 kids 3yo boy and 1yo girl. Already into Lego. At the moment I'm acquiring around 100kg of loose lego - if anyone can give me some tips in sorting will be great. At the moment I'm sorting in 6 drawer tall storage towers and have 3 of them. I was thinking in separate them in general colours , minifigs, wheels , accessories and plates. As well I'm interested in making models from Star Wars and wondering how can I separate starwar pieces from the rest. As well I have …

Hi, Just wanted to say glad to be a member here and thank you for helping me learn so much on protecting myself for the future. I have watched the threads and realized I am in a great community where everyone is honest here and by doing some research found out a few people are not perfect, but we don't to be afraid and can speak our mind about the hobby and what to watch out for as far as the bad guys. I respect people here and see that just because we are using secret codes, terms or deleting threads that is not sneaky or being afraid of scammers because they are not smart enough to catch on. So thank you and am not doing much today ,but putting together some rea…

Hey guys, how's it going? After an approximately 15 year personal building hiatus, my oldest son turned 5 and a Lego explosion has happened in our house! It led to a trip over to my parents to pull out my old Lego's, and I found a MISB 6894 Lego Blacktron Invader from around 1987. While doing research about what exactly I had found, I stumbled across BrickPicker and fell into the abyss hard. I sold the set on Ebay in less then 15 minutes, and had my seed money for a small Lego investing operation! I started by inputting all the sets my son has gotten over the past year, and discovered.that a few sets we had purchased on clearance last holiday season have since gone EOL…

...except not bonnie today, it's chucking it down.... Hi all... My name is Gareth and I hail from Ayr on the West coast of Scotland. Been playing on and off with Lego since I was a lad (70s I think....jeez) but got back into it more recently as I realised that Lego seem to have more products aimed at the "older child" ( I was gonna say a more adult range of Lego products, but that didn't quite sound right, somehow.... ) So since getting back into it, I stumbled across this not-so-little site and have been hooked since, trying to learn more about the collecting and investing side of things. They say you should only invest in things that you know or love.…

Hi all, I'm an AFOL who came out of my dark ages about 5 years ago. Started flipping in 2011, not so much for profit but to support the hobby. Love playing and building wiht my daughters and just got my wife interested in building the Fairgrounds Mixer. At the high my inventory was about $20k MSRP in opened sets, but had to free up a bunch of shelf space so now I'm down to mostly things I hope to build in the future. The biggest lessons I've learned so far are: These things taka a lot of space to store. These things can be expensive to ship. Dont discount the value of your own time. Don't sell too soon!

Hello, I am Mocha boy from Hong Kong. I have my first Lego set when I was 7 yrs old. Then I have not owned any Lego sets until 2008 because I saw 10196 and wanted to build it up with my wife. I am looking for any source of Lego sets to start my Lego business in Hong Kong. However, I have already searched for 2 years but no Lego online shop in bricklink reply my email. Hope I can learn more and get more information in here.

Hi everyone! I'm new here so I wanted to say hello! I have been buying and selling Lego on a small scale for a few years now. And I have to say I love it. I started getting into Lego again as an adult with the Harry Potter theme and now I am on a quest to collect all the Harry minifigs. I have a small store on Bricklink and sell sometimes on ebay. But what I love most is the hunt. I love searching garage sales and online classifieds for Lego. I have a lot to learn and by the looks of things here everyone has so much great knowledge to share. Happy building! And I look forward to chatting with you

Hello everyone, Thought it time to reach out and introduce myself. I just got into LEGO within the last 10 months. It started as a bit of a hobby to pass the time in Greenland. My friend lived next to me in the dorms and he is a huge AFOL. He really peaked my interest when he told me about the value of certain LEGO sets. We'd literally spend hours talking bricks. He showed me pics from brick conventions, his 3rd place winning massive Black Pearl that he made, and all sorts of stuff that I found fascinating. At first, I was just interested in having a fun hobby where I could use my hands and find some peace. Very soon I was enticed by the challenge of using b…

Hello, my name is Matt and I am from the St Louis area. I am 35. I used to have a massive Lego Star Wars collection, but sold them all about 4 years ago when I got divorced and needed money bad. I would like to get back into this because I realized I made a TON of money. It was all accidental too. I had been buying those sets because I like Legos and Star Wars. Half of them I had opened and built. Even the ones I opened sold for more than they did when they were new. I could not believe it. I did have some very nice rare sets. I had the Jango Fett Slave 1, the original Sail Barge, motorized AT-AT, old hoth set, cloud city, just to name a few. I had so many. I even at one …

Hello everyone, First of all I'd like to apologize for my poor English as it is not my mother tongue. I'm not new to the Lego world: as I child (more than thirty years ago) I was lucky enough to have a huge collection. Time passed by and as a teenager I had other interests ;-) What brought me back to the world of Lego? In 2007 I saw two sets: UCS AT-ST (10174) and AT-AT (10178), two of my favorite vehicles for me as a child. So I started to buy Lego sets as an adult. The second question could be: what brought you to brickpicker? The answer is simple: I was googling looking for the next UCS to come and found the site. I started to read the articles and thou…

Good day everyone! Just 2 weeks ago, I stumbled on a pretty deal on a 10221 Super Star Destroyer set and immediately bought it. Guess it was the start of my journey from the wilderness from which I was lost to for the past 25 years! Damn corporate rat race! When I was a kid in the 80s (yes yes, I am that old), I would wait eagerly for my Dad to return home from his overseas trips as he would buy me lego sets to play with. Well, as time went by, I lost touch with Lego. I have always walked past the Lego stores and ohh and ahh at the huge Star Wars sets on display but I didn't have the financial means to get any. Fast forward to 2014, now in my mid 30s, I…

Good morning Brickpickers! I have been gone from LEGO for far too long! I grew up on the Space Coast of Florida and naturally I am a huge space nerd. I was a huge fan of LEGO in the 80s and had just about every space set there was. Naturally, when we took our son to see the LEGO movie, Benny was instantly my favorite character! My son gravitated to LEGO immediately with his first DUPLO sets he got for Christmas in 2012, and then he found Star Wars. He hasn't slowed down since! We have something we both enjoy and can do together. I am super excited to be getting back into this hobby. LEGO is responsible for my love of building and fixing things and playe…

Hey everyone, New member here. One thing that I feel is really volatile in regards to price in the lego community is the popular superheroes brand, especially in regards to the Avengers/Justice League. I have all of the original Avengers phase 1 figures and the majority of the classic Justice League figures. My question to all of you would be seeing as how 2015 will bring us new & updated Avengers + New 52 Justice League sets/figs how will this affect the value of what I currently have? I think there's 3 possible ways this could go. One (and in the best possible case), it will increase their value and increase their demand. Two, they could remain at relativel…

I found this site as a link from another site and I have been completely amazed! I have always loved lego but my parents weren't really in a position to buy us these kinds of toys when we were growing up. Now that I'm a mom, I'm having a lot of fun buying and choosing sets that I think my kids will love. My son is 4 and is really getting into them (he can put together sets that are almost 1000 pieces by himself by looking at the pictures). My daughter is younger (2) but we have already starting buying things for her as well (most recently the research institute). Thank you for creating such an amazing resource. I have a lot of fun reading the various articles and I'm asto…
