What Lego set did you buy today?

Thanks for the tip in the DD. Picked up these at Walgreens for $19 total. My other local store didn’t have anything left.

Agreed. Thanks OP in Daily Deals. Walgreens secret clearance. All 50% off. All unmarked on the shelf. I visited six stores, all within an eight mile radius of my house. One had nothing. The other five each had one set. I have three more stores to check tomorrow while I’m working (I’m an Account Rep for a large soda distributor and I have those three stores on my route).

I like the City Tractor set at the current usual sale price of $16, so finding more at $10 is a nice bonus. The Minecraft set was a nice surprise as well. cdcc78170b6b58c11b51127dffda4b41.jpg

Couple of observations after going Walgreens hunting yesterday and today:

- Someone went for all the 90% clearance in my neck of the woods. Only managed to find the DOTS adventures bracelet (41918) for $0.60 at one store (90% off its $5.99 RRP), but that was also THE ONLY STORE that clearanced that item - in all other stores they rang up RRP

- One store had 76140 Iron Man Mechs for $6.99, but all other stores that had them had them for RRP $9.99

- 11008 Bricks and Houses consistently rings up as 60287 City Tractor

- The pricing on 60287 City Tractor and 21171 The Horse Stables is for sure a pricing error - it is not ringing up as any kind of sale.

- Where 60287 & 21171 should have been $19.99 but ring up for $9.99, 76171 Miles Morales Mech rings up for $19.99, but should have been ringing up for $9.99. This leads me to believe someone in HQ accidentally(?) swapped the RRPs on 21171 and 76171 (note the last 3 digits are the same). The same sleepy-head probably also copy & pasted the price on 60287 to 11008, but forgot to update the description (hence it ringing up as 60287). Taking it one step further, here is what I think happened:

1. Mr/Mrs Sleepy-head accidentally swapped 76171 and 21171, leading to 21171 being priced $9.99.

2. They then realized that 21171, 60287 and 11008 were all sets with the same dimension boxes, same RRPs etc, so they copied the record from 76171 to create the 60287 record.

3. Then they proceeded to update the second record to 60287, and made all the changes necessary (GTIN/UPC, description etc.)

4. They made a copy again, now of the 60287 record, to prep 11008, and added the GTIN/UPC.

5. While they were doing that, that cute girl/rugged handsome bachelor from finance came by and they totally got distracted. After 15-20 minutes of flirtation, now totally aroused, they decided to accept the offer to "let's grab a drink right now" . They quickly pressed Save and left in a horny frenzy, not realizing they forgot to update the 11008 record with 11008's description.

6. The reseller community POUNCED.

I also bought some dill pickle spears for the Bloody Mary that I made this morning.

60253 was one of the $1.99 sets yesterday.

Made another Walgreens round today. Some stores did a reset so sets were moved to seasonal. If you don’t see the item on the shelf but the app says it is in stock it maybe in the back “on the cart”. It seems like with the $20 sets they only get 1 in at a time so the lego case that has 5 sets must be distributed throughout the region. I also got two $7 off $25 register coupons.

75273 Poe Dameron's X-wing Fighter at my local Target for $40.36 ($72.99, (shelf price and online price was $89.99), minus $35 in gift cards and Red card discount).  I think with the 2 exclusive minfigures to this set this one will do well.

76185 Spider-Man at the Sanctum Workshop also at my local Target for $20.13 (matched $19.99 shelf price error and Red card discount)

You get a like just for having the least expensive white whale yet.

I'm glad you got one :-)

Yay LEGO!

Well, things tend to spiral out of control. I have since bought 79000, 79001, 79002, 79004 and 79016. Stuff gets expensive really quickly when you try to catch up on a retired theme :)

White whale acquired ... $150 plus $5 for 2 missing parts from BL. Even included spares. Missed this during my Dark Ages so had to pay 2+ x RRP.

Much in the same vein, this came and went during my dark ages as well. However, just a few months after diving into Lego again in late 2015, I walked into a Walmart on my way to a Christmas party. I rarely went to this Walmart and thought, why not have a look. The Lego isle looked like a bomb had gone off. There were non-lego toys and non-toy items all over the place. As I neared the end of the isle, nothing in hand, my eyes caught something I had never seen in the wild before. Two 79003s just sitting there among all the other crap strewn about in the isle. I quickly garbed them both and strolled to the checkout. They were only 20% off, but I was excited to not only find something that was retired, but pretty damn cool as well.

I sold one of them off a year or two ago, but still have one in box in the event I ever feel like opening it up with my son. If not, I may keep it for awhile as its been one of the more neat finds along the way.

I had my 10 Mando Battle packs canceled even though there was still some on the shelf. Got the $10 off $40 coupon on the register receipt. thanks @Mark Twain

If there is anyone near Easton MD that wants some sets I have on hold shoot me a message. Bad enough I had to get off the couch on Thanksgiving but didn’t realize how far that was.

Plentiful here, left most of the smalls and still spent $600 between two stores.
