LEGO VIP Insiders/GWP Discussion

The issue I am seeing w/ LEGO is the high level decision making on subject matter.  The execution is spot on and fantastic (ie the engineers and designers are clearly the best in their respective fields and uber talented)...but it's the decision making early on in the project that has me doubtful of competence.

I mean MAYBE you can make a case for an UCS Luke Speeder...but C'mon...a kitchen scene!

someone is being too cute ...or MEGA or Cobi has someone on the inside who's goal is to muck up LEGO

Nearly half of these sets are OOS or EOL.  No UCS sets for double VIP!  wth?!

Very disappointing... *sigh*

Are there enough Jar Jar keychains to get us to  $150 GWP?

I saw somewhere on social media that the listing was posted in error and they would be revising it (according to some Lego CS rep).  Probably was related to a prior promotion or event they had going.

Saw this as well, but then why would 75342 be on an old list when it isn’t even on Lego’s website yet.

The Cap on my order just went from "Waiting for new stock" to "In Warehouse". Not sure what that means, but I'm hoping it is "we got a cancellation and now we can send that cap to you" vs "we just received the Vistaprint order Exciter1 called in".

… aaaaaand shipped. Are these $150 on Ebay yet? *smirk*

From the Lego Weekley Newsletter I just got: I guess they didn't get the memo.

My dad talked to Lego about getting his hats and they said it was a glitch in their system and that whoever redeemed their codes for the hats will be getting them as they get caught up but whoever requested a refund in their points will not be getting the hats anymore. Who knows?

Has it been confirmed that the current list is accurate?  I assume so since it's not been updated and May 1st is around the corner.  I did call CS and they indicated that it's accurate and no changes will be made.

This is probably old news but I've been trying to figure out what to buy for this May 4th promotion and it's pretty underwhelming... 46 sets on the "list" for double points but 40% are retired or unavailable which leaves only 27.  None of the big ticket items are on this.  Out of all the star wars sets showing online (not counting the retired ones), there are 48 sets, so almost half of them are not part of the promotion??  None of the helmets are even included or any of the over priced (IMO) dioramas... is Lego just getting really stingy to not want to offer double VIP pts on all Star Wars sets?  Is this normal, I thought prior years had better double VIP selection

I stand corrected, looks like the original list was revised online.  I was using the list that had been shared earlier in this forum.  Still, no big ticket items and still a bunch of sets missing including some of the helmets... for those interested looks like the following were added:

75322 Hoth™ AT-ST
75326 Boba Fett Throne room
75280 501st legion
75327 Skywalker helmet
75328 Mandolorian helmet
75343 Dark Trooper Helmet
75325 The Mandalorian's N-1 Starfighter

LEGO has not had any difficulty moving SW sets without any promo.  It is using May 4th as a way to move slower selling SW sets

I did not notice this before, but the top of the bumper are 2 huge 1/4 circle stickers.  $200 for the fun of placing giant stickers on a curved tiles :thumbsu:

I said to myself I will never buy this set to build and probably never to sell but lego keeps upping the anti and making it hard on grabbing 1 for the latter.
