This has been nagging at me for a while and as Huskers mentioned in a post it should be started in it's own thread if the topic is going to be drawn out. If I owned a store and a customer was taking an item off the shelf and hiding it in the store so I wouldn't charge as much for it later I would consider that customer to intentionally trying to devalue a product I am trying to maximize profit on and essentially stealing from me. Would you find that customers behavior acceptable if it was your store? There are some people that would justify their actions and say that large retailers can afford to take the loss and it's a game to them. I don't see it tha…

A while back in the UK deals thread there was a lot of talk regarding income tax / VAT etc so I thought it would be a good idea if we had a thread dedicated to it. As the majority of people on this forum are from North America, and they have totally different rules / regulations to tax etc we can keep this thread for UK only. It seems like ebay are now clamping down on the masses of Chinese sellers who undercut all the UK sellers and not pay any tax / VAT: ***VAT compliance for overseas sellers*** 09 November, 2016 | 01:34PM GMT Hello, Earlier this year, the UK government announced new measures to tackle the non-payment of VAT…

Hi everyone, I'm very new to all this. I was thinking the other day as I bought my second investment set (Grand Emporium) When I'm ready to sell something and I've never sold on Ebay before, how do I set it up so people won't shy away from me the minute they realize I don't have a rating. I started an Instagram page to show people how much I love this stuff. Also that I'm just your average family man. @brickcrazy Also, whats stopping someone from claiming I sent them an open product or something? And scamming me?!?! Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

I would have liked to added these last options onto the other clearance thread but there is only room for three questions per poll so I had to create another just for these. I only tried listing the main stores and websites but if I am missing some good ones, please let me know. I can add major retailers from different regions since not everyone has access to certain stores.

I been getting alot of questions on how I box up my Lego sets to be mailed. First thing I only use Bubble Wrap on maybe 5% of the sets I mail. I use that Brown and White Packaging paper that alot of companies use to ship stuff. I get mine from those GNC Vitamin stores, they throw boxes of it away. I put the Lego set in the box, then I take the paper and stuff it in between the Lego set and the box, then I put a few layers on top of the Lego set, then I take a Priority mail, Fedex box on top. and then close and tape the box up. Now I have mailed thousands of boxes this way, and none have ever got damaged, plus with this size box there is not enough room to use Bubble Wrap,…

I'm looking for some help from you Pickers who have had to file a lost package claim. I've had a shipment drop off of tracking, my local post office isn't much help, and I'll probably be filing a claim in a couple of days. (This is my first time dealing with this.) My buyer has been very patient so far, and I would like to keep them happy so they don't hit me with a neg. At the same time, I'm assuming it could take a while to get the insurance money back for the lost package. I guess what I'm asking is : At what point in this process am I "Safe" to refund the customers money? I don't want to refund the money, the package comes back …

I received the email below from Amazon today. I'm sure those of you who sell on Amazon will also receive this email, but in case you somehow missed it, or were thinking about selling on Amazon, here it is. Bulletpoint #2 pretty much rules me out (I just don't sell that much), which is too bad, as I was planning on ramping up for the holidays on Amazon. I pretty much just have ebay and CL now. Hello from Amazon Services, To maintain a great customer experience this holiday season, we are announcing the holiday selling guidelines for the Toys & Games store. Effective November 18, 2014, only sellers who meet the following criteria will be eligible to se…

My son has 10 large bins of Legos to sell. He wants to sell them to collectors only. He wants them to go to a good home where he knows someone will appreciate the bricks and use them to build amazing things. He would prefer to sell to an adult Lego collector. He does not want to sell them to parents looking for large lots for kids (my son is 16). We've looked at eBay, but there is no way to politely say "collectors only." Does anyone have advice?

Just a heads up... There is a store called Tuesday Morning which is basically a buy-out store. I popped into one today and saw a few Lego sets. Nothing I wanted (Minotaurus game, mining truck, and another game), but, if you are ever near one of these stores, it might not be a bad idea to see if they have anything you might be interested in.

Since i started selling Lego sets some years ago it always makes me feel kind of uncomfortable when i meet a buyer in person to hand over the Lego and he/she asks me "..and why are you selling this set/your collection?" or "Why don´t you need this set anymore?". It seems to me that about 9 out of 10 buyers asking me that question over and over again. I mean, they surely see that i´m selling more and just new sets when they´re looking at my account, and then we meet and they innocently/ironically ask me why i´m selling the set. Like they don´t have the balls to ask me if i´m just selling to make money with it or are they some kind of jealous? Any similar experien…

This may be the biggest lot I've ever seen on my local CL. http://austin.craigslist.org/tag/3889717844.html I can't afford it, but if anyone is interested I can try to talk to the guy or something, or maybe take a look at it in person. This could be an opportunity to get a seriously nice collection before it goes to ebay.

So I have an extra $150.00 give or take for a purchase, here are my options 2 VC from walmart at $69.00 each or Mines of moria $65.70 Helms Deep $115.97 What would you do? I like the discount on the VC but don't want to miss out on the LOTR sets. Probably won't be able to buy any more big sets until June.

So the results are in! I bought a DYMO 450. Super easy to get going and set up with labels for USPS. I cannot believe I ever used a freaking printer. This thing is INSANE! I thought I could also give people a little insight into my methods too. Feel free to suggest your improvements! So here are some starting points - I am all about efficiency when working so I do a lot of timing myself and taking statistics. So here you go: I ship an average of 12 things a weekday - about 20 for the full weekend or more. Most of these are minifigures and parted out sets or used sets I sell without the box. I use USPS for the majority of shipments obviously - first class. M…

Does anyone bother to remove the clearance stickers on your sets intended for resale? I was checking on eBay today to gauge values (Chima, specifically), and it doesn't appear that having the clearance stickers makes much difference in resale value. I've been removing them, and in one or two cases it actually damaged the box, so now I am debating on just leaving them alone. Thoughts?

I know we have a bunch of full time Ebayers here so my question is this? What is the best time of the day or night to have your auction end? I think I know the obvious answer but I am open to different opinions. Thanks for any help as I am a fairly new eBay seller (52 feedbacks).

First time posting on here after picking up a few star wars sets and of course the tumbler. Maybe this has been asked countless times already. But just wondering how long you hold a set for or what triggers you to sell or what ever the lingo is. flip is it?

I found another site selling Legos that sent the BS meter pegging... HomBZ.com They have the Maersk train for $87 (as well as Diagon Alleyand The Pet Shop for $99 each). So I thought "hmmmmm, let's see..." Put the order in then they direct you to paypal for payment. OK....so I see if the vendor is 'verified' but can't find anywhere on paypal where that info is. No way will I send money unless they are verified. The website has a phone number so I call ((951) 200-4263?) I get a recorded message...no one there, blah blah blah...leave a message. BS meter pegging even more. I look at the "invoice" the sent me via email Here's the address they ship from…

If you have a Fry's near you, it's worth checking out their Lego isle. I stopped in tonight and swooped up 3 Vampire Hearses for 24.99, and 3 Mad scientist sets for 39.99. No GT's or VC's though... Nothing mind blowing, but cheaper than Amazon right right now if you don't want to risk waiting for them to go on clearance somewhere or don't get clearance sales. I'm hoping the hearse will be one of the better performing small sets from MF after EOL. It's a cool little set. As a side note, they also had one city set 4441 so I picked it up too. Retail price of course, but all the forest city stuff seems to be doing quite well. Wish I picked up more robber's hideouts…

I was at TRU yesterday picking up a few polybags. I am always in there checking stuff on my rounds so they know me quite well. I was informed that word had come from corporate stating that they now have a purchase limit of 10 of any one item. She (the manager) advised me it had something to do with resellers. Not there is ever a real opportunity to buy 10 of ANYTHING there, but I am wondering if this ultimately came directly from LEGO.
