General Buying & Selling

Overall discussion on the buying and selling of LEGO

  1. Started by stackables,

I went to my paypal site and was greeted by "You've reached a limit for how much you can send, receive or transfer. See how to lift your limits". I have never seen this before and I barely sell anything. I basically use paypal for payments linked to my credit card. I don't trust paypal with any bank account. So in order to use paypal, I have to link them to one of my accounts? Does anyone know what exactly is this "limit" I reached? Did I print too many labels for $2?

  2. ================== update to original post by jaisonline. Please post all comments here about these two popular shopping days of each year (at least in the U.S.). I also added a poll for Cyber Monday ================== I am a newer member to the forums and collecting and I wasn't here last year for Black Friday Question is: what kind of deals can I expect? I was planning on making a few larger purchases from the lego store for the extra holiday set and extra VIP points but have no other plans Online the way to go? There anything out there more than 50%? Thanks just trying to plan out the finances for holiday season

  3. Started by speedsausage,

I have an RI up for auction at the moment, Canada and US only. I received a message from someone in Singapore if I would be willing to ship to there. I'm a little hesitant on this, also I'm not sure how to update the shipping so I can go international on an item already in progress. I have never shipped international either. My thought was to reply with either a) an international auction so he can bid or b ) an agreed on BIN price. He said he would like one for his daughters birthday. His feed back is good and his feed back is from all over, US, UK, Spain etc. Any thoughts, suggestions, experiences would be greatly appreciated!

  5. Hey everyone! So my son has been playing lego for a while (I used to play as a kid too) but seemed limited in what he could build based on the amount/type of lego we have. So I bought 50lbs of lego from craigslist and now there's so much I'm sure he won't be able to play with it all. So I've been reading around and discovered the magical world of used lego selling Anyway, I wanted to try what many of you do and sell some of our lego with the aim to make a profit so that it can fund more lego (brand new sets that he picks out himself and/or more used lots). From what I've gathered, the best way to sell mixed lego is to sort it, build any sets as near complete as …

  6. Started by stackables,

I sent a package to Iowa with tracking. I just looked up the tracking number to see the progress of the package. The package was sent to Texas first wtf! I have the printout of my receipt and it definitely shows the correct destination of Iowa (IA). Anybody have this happen before? I hope it gets to the correct destination. Probably should have added, I am in Michigan.

Thought I would post Found the Rockefeller Center 21007 as they were putting out stock at a thrift store for $3. Box and instructions included. Just sold for $31 on eBay I am happy, can justify my new hobby easier to the wife Any other first flip success stories?

  8. Started by stackables,

Hey, if you got a package weighing over 13 oz, say 2lbs. Is the best way to ship priority mail? I was checking to see how much it would cost through paypal, and I think my item which is a game would have to fit in the medium box. At 2lbs, I am looking at $11 to ship. That is crazy. Is it better just to take the package into the post office and get an estimate?

When ordering from overseas into the US has anyone ever had customs opening up sets and slapping an inspection label? Sent from my SCH-I535 using Brickpicker mobile app

  10. A fellow trader and I set up a trade. Since the trader was new, I suggested that he send first. He supposedly sent on the 19th without tracking and I still haven't received the figs. The figs were sent via first class, so today would be the 5th day. It shouldn't take too long to get from IN to MI. Obviously, I will wait a couple more days but I was wondering is there anything one could do to track the package down? I assume this is a lost cause.

  11. Started by justapilgrim,

I'm sure there is similar threads, but still nice to get some ideas. My kids finally started getting into Lego, and I'm trying to find the sales, deals etc. I found a mom and pop toy store that still has the MH sets and some Lone Ranger, but they haven't discounted. Someone else posted that they got a bunch of polybags at a TJ Maxx So...what are the non traditional places that I need to be looking? Thanks

  12. Started by Tilted,

So, I sold a set and it was supposed to be delivered on the 15th but I'm getting this "Status Not Updated" message. Do I have any reason to be worried? I appreciate any input, as I'm not terribly familiar with USPS's standard of service.

found these old lego in the attic after we cleared my grandparents house. have found out it is from 1958 has 109 pcs .Thats all ! Hoping some lego clever person can give me a hint as to what it is worth and if the loose bricks & windows are also sellable. am not thinking of keeping them as they do not fit well onto modern lego because they are tubeless. thankyou flamelilych

  16. Started by njseale,

So I have a situation I am actually unsure what to do. I had a buyer inquire about an item asking some kind of dumb questions. Next day he sends me a message saying he wants to buy item, but can't because he has 2 strikes against him(I have my ebay set to block buyers with 2 or more unpaid transactions in a year.) He says he wants to pay today. Buyer has 3 total feedbacks, but one is a "negative" positive claiming him as a deadbeat buyer. The item is kind of expensive, $800. Should I let him buy it or not. I am 50/50 at this point.

Hi, I'm trying to buy some power functions parts, specially the 8884 IR receiver, but Lego LEGO Shop at Home doesn't allow me to buy in the quantities that I need. Because I don't live in the US, Lego education doesn't ship to me. Do you know any stores that sell the power functions line without restrictions in their quantities and at reasonable prices? Regards, Brickbr

  18. Started by varmintt,

I guess if you sell enough you're bound to get burned eventually. I've been reading this forum with the intermittent reports of problems with ebay buyers and felt fortunate I have yet to be scammed. But today is my turn and now I turn to the good people of this forum for some needed advice about how to proceed with my first dishonest buyer. I sold a minifigure on ebay 4 month ago (12 bucks plus shipping) shipped item off and tracking confirmed delivery a few days later to a confirmed address. Today I get an email from paypal that they buyer is disputing the transaction stating it was an unauthorized charge. Pay pal wants proof the transaction was a…

  19. I've just had a look at 21109 & 21110, the Exo suit and Research Lab. Both are OOS in the UK LEGO Shop at Home with Sept shipping dates. So if I can order them now, will I still get this months polybag, the mini Mini or next months when they come back into stock?

Do you usually find good deals at the lego stores? The one closest to me is about an hour and a half away and I am wondering if if it is worth it to make the trip.

  21. Tried searching and came up with zilch, so here goes. Have several extra large and small instruction manuals (as well as some Nintendo NES game manuals ) and wondering the best way to ship them. The USPS cardboard envelopes (not sure of the name) are priority mail and seem expensive for manuals that only cost a few bucks. So how would you fine gentlemen go about shipping them in an acceptable and economic way? Thanks in advance for the advice.

  22. I just sold a Lego Attack of the Wargs. BNIB. I've been selling for 11 years with 379 100% feedbacks and no negative feedbacks. I bought it new, took pictures of it to sell on Ebay, packaged it well. This was a brand new unopened item. The buyer opens a case with ebay (he has feedback of 11) and says, "The box was already opened. The instructions for this set were in the box but the Legos included were not this set. As well, there was a World of Warcraft action figure set included...My son is very upset that what he thought he was receiving was not at all what you promised." I've never owned a World of Warcraft action figure! How will Ebay handl…

  23. Mailing off my first sale on eBay today. Should I insure it? The item is worth $200. The address is confirmed and I'll get tracking number of course. I'm new to this so am wondering what people think about insuring the items they sell on eBay if they are higher dollar amounts... I've read some interesting posts on how to save costs with an eBay business. Curious to know if people choose to save costs by not insuring or consider it a necessity. Thanks for your input!

  24. Howdy, I'm in the process of selling a lot of lego in bulk ( ~7 kilo) and i'm wondering if there are any colors that I should leave out? (Brown, darkgrey, transparant,...?)

  25. Ok gang, I need a little input here. I recently opened a store on bricklink and received an offer this morning from a buyer. They want to purchase 10 of my 6864 batmobile and two face chase sets as a bulk order. They offered to pay with a personal check, and are wiling to wait for it to clear before I ship. Total of the check will be $700 plus exact shipping. They offered to do the deal outside of bricklink and paypal to save me some fees. My question is this...once I receive and deposit the check, and once it clears the banks, I am safe to ship the goods, right? Is there any way the buyer can scam me once the check clears? With the recent talk on the forums about some…
