LEGO Technic Winter 2017 Official Images Posted: 08 Nov 2016 01:27 PM PST Continuing with some official images that Brickset has found on BabyJoe.ch, there are now images of the LEGO Technic winter 2017 sets. 42042 - Technic Crawler Crane - released in USA in Aug 2015; 1401 pcs, power functions included. RRP US$149.99. ToysRUs lists it as an "exclusive" but is widely available everywhere online. Seems frequently discounted in the $115 - $126 range. Walmart.com has it now around $116 = 23% off (Sep 2016). Overshadowed by it's big brother in 2015 - the 42043 Mercedes AROCS - could this set take an early exit (or at least a "normal" 2-year exit) and be a big winner in 2018? Worth picking up at $110? ... or better to wait for a better deal?

Hello, just a message to say I am very surprised with this set. Retail price was around 12 euros, selling now at 35 euros on Amazon. A nice surprise !

1166 pcs, first available in US Aug 1, 2016. I'm not a Technic builder (yet) but I really like this set. I like the pneumatics, all the functions are neat, and you don't see that many Technics with this much black - it looks great. There's a lot of great Technic sets out this month, but I may just have to build this one.

This set has retired and available in different times at good discount. I still see some in the wild at rrp. With the upcoming 42055 Bucket Wheel Excavator, I'm thinking this could be an accompanying sets and could see some price rise. Of course there are still the current available range like 42035 which I think should do well regardless. In the mean time, still seeing 42023 perhaps indicate that this is a dud. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Hello folks, what is your opinion on getting some service trucks as an investment? I was stopping by my local TRU last night and saw they had 3 or 4 left for 139 each. I did not buy them right away because the price seems kind of high. I wanted to ask for your opinion as I am still relatively new to this and my feeling tells me that Technic sets grow at a much slower rate than other sets. Thank you.

Hello fellow Brickpickers, I have just noticed that of Technic sets with any significance, 42039 Le Mans Race Car was the only one without dedicated topic (whereas the previous 42000 racer has 3!), so I figured I'd correct the injustice Please feel free to share your opinions on the design and naturally, its investment potential. There is currently a great deal going on it on Dutch Kruidvat website (only today) and I was wondering if it could ever be found for less than 70€ in Europe? I figure it's quite a decent price for its value. Looking forward to your feedback!

  12. I tried searching for some general investment strategies with Technic sets so I figured I'd start a thread. Well I know that Technic does not have the following in the U.S. that it does in Europe but judging by the current market values of the Unimog and Excavator it appears that good profits can be made. My initial thoughts are to pick up a few 42009 MKII cranes and service trucks through TRUTH as they are more likely to retire end of year.

I don't have the time to sell each set individually so i would like to sell them as a lot what is the best place to try and do that. I came across this today and had to share it here. It is a stunning model of the Alfa Romeo 4C Spider which not only looks amazing, it has a lot of power functions. I have never seen this car before seeing the Lego model, and it is most beautiful technic race car that I have ever seen. I would love to buy this but I just don't have the time to get all the pieces required. At some point I will formulate a letter and send it off to Lego in hopes they will contact this person and make it for everyone. Alfa Romeo 4C Spider

Hi Folks, how about your opinion on 42006 Technic Excavator. Worth picking up ? When will we see EOL for this set - Early/mid 2015 ? Retails for 59,99

  20. This is a bunch of technic parts along with some manuals, but the sets aren't 100% complete. Should I sell the different boxes separately, like "power functions" then "pins" etc? Or should I sell it all as one big Technic lot? Opinions are welcome.

Anyone see this at TRU yet? MSRP is $40 so can easily be had for less then $32. I was thinking of adding one of those "pull back" motors but think I would need to remove the steering function.

  23. Anyone seen the 42030 Volvo Front Loader? http://brickset.com/sets/42030-1/Volvo-L350F-Front-Loader So I mentioned in a blog about Technic showing up in other stores that I thought it might be good for the theme. If Lego invests more money in it, maybe they will start licensing more of it like the Unimog. Well we have another licensed set. Volvo may not be the biggest name in construction, but its certainly looks like a push in that direction. Technic lovers love Construction - and I feel like they will love licensed Construction even more. This is a big boy at 1636 pieces. Looks sweet too:

I just bought a sealed in mint box 8051 Motorbike set for $65. It's a set that I have always wanted but I'm not sure if I should open it or not. It seems like these sets are around $120 new, which is quite a bit more than the MSRP so I wonder how much more the price will go up? It's a bit scary to think that as soon as I break the seal the value gets cut in half.
