Australian General LEGO Update

Just went to my local Myer hoping to pick up a couple of Friends Shopping Malls, and end up hitting Jackpot! 1 TH & 3 GE later, I'm a happy man. Cleaned them out of the last of what they had. It was great considering LEGO fell under the BOGO 50% off  :imsohappy:

Good score! There's still bits and pieces out there at Myer. TH and GE should perform very well down the track

has anyone gotten a R2D2 or AA recently from Target and looked at the seal codes? they seem to have tons in stock and wondering if it was the last shipment to Australia or if they still expect one more (in which case we will have wait even longer for price to start appreciating if they are both are retired).

on a separate note, not sure if this the right thread but would really appreciate any help sourcing suitable boxes for shipping out medium and large sets in Australia..i have looked everywhere and haven't found the equivalent of the uline 24X20X6 (inch) boxes that are so prevalent in the US. australia post only stocks small boxes, and officeworks and specialist box websites only stock large boxes that are really deep. any ideas??

14S4 for R2 which I picked up three weeks ago.

46S3 for AA that I got delivered last week

thanks guys. so if this is typical than possibly Australia could have one more shipment of R2? as the Europeans (spain & UK) reported recent deliveries of 37S4.

also interesting that AA is from 2013 stock. was it known to be a slow seller in Oz?

I think it has more to do with being a "Target" exclusive in Australia. Once it was removed from shelves late last year/early last year (possibly due to not selling) it has only reappeared on the Target website on special promos alongside The Simpsons house.

Seriously thinking about a third, if Target can't sell them at $200 (20%off) I can't see them being a good long term investment in Oz compared to the U.S.

interesting..i would still bet on it achieving a good level of appreciation once stock clears and the star wars movie hits, but agree it may take much longer compared to US. what do u see being a better investment in Australia - R2D2 or AA?

I personally think R2 will do better here however AA will still be a winner down the road. It not being a popular seller may actually work in our favour as not many people will have them hoarded and they may have not had much exposure. The Haunted House sat on shelves not moving for a while even when reduced to $189, look at it now! I regret only getting 5 of them!

Sorry was referring to the AA, I wouldn't touch R2D2 as I'm cursed with anything Star Wars:/

Hi mate,

Short answer, there isn't.

If you want to know what I do, go have a look in the topic "Box materials in Australia" started by Jkaesler.

Hope that helps,

Josh

There are box cutting tools that size boxes to the size you need. I don't know if the Aussie market is different but here isn't the US, boxes are mandatory. Bubble wrap and paper isn't going to cut it. I just am an anti paper guy because I HATE when when things aren't perfect. Some people call it OCD. ;)

Agreed. I won't risk getting neg feedback on ebay for bad packaging. All items go in a box. You can easily crease sets no matter how much bubble wrap you throw on

Got two TH today from my Myer order last Wednesday. One of the boxes had popped seals. Checked everything inside and all bags are there. I'm wondering if they may have peeled from the heat? Anyone come across seals opening from heat before?

Yes! Received 4 HH last summer and one box had its seals popped from the heat.
