  1. Lego fan builds world's longest toy train circuit out of 93,000 bricks - and it takes more than three hours to go round http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2364154/Lego-fan-builds-worlds-longest-toy-train-circuit-93-000-bricks.html I am personally not a fan. I want a townscape...some buildings etc. I guess it's kinda cool b/c that thing is HUGE but, that just does not look fun to me.

When building a set do you apply the stickers if the set has them? Curious as to what others do.

My soon to be 6 year old really want the Pet Shop modular for his upcoming birthday. He is very good at building by himself and can follow instructions. He doesn't have any big or hard sets yet. Log cabin, and Hagrid's Hut is the extent of it right now. I'm wondering if the Pet Shop will be too difficult for him and cause frustration. I'm leaning towards a couple of medium sets instead like the fire or police station. There's obviously part of me that really want the Pet Shop so I can build it with him : ) Does anyone have personal experience with younger kids building the modulars by themselves? Thanks

I finally finished my build of the 10179 UCS Millennium Falcon yesterday. Such an Epic build! I highly recommend it to anyone out there to give this thing a go at least once if you get the opportunity. I have built plenty of large sets before including at least half a dozen UCS sets but nothing compared to this. As I was building it I really got the sense that the designers went all out and no expense was spared in creating it. All the little greebling parts were not skimped on at all and the rigid internal frame was superbly engineered to hold the large weight of the model. It took me many many hours, perhaps 50+ working off an on over the last 6 wee…

  7. Hey folks! I have a big box of white/pink/red bricks and another big box of white/red/pink plates. I reckon I have enough here to take on building any of the released modular sets so far. Given that I can download the instructions from somewhere, which do you think will: 1) Look decent in those colours? 2) Be buildable mostly with standard bricks? I had green grocer in mind initally, but it will be a sweet/candy shop instead. I do have a lot of other brick parts, so reckon I will have enough to do any of them, but maybe not in the right colours.

As some of you know, I'm attending college as a Film Production major concentrating in Production Design (set design). I have never attempted to build a large scale MOC before, but I am extremely interested in creating a MASSIVE Hollywood Studio Backlot MOC. The scene would be made up of various buildings, lots, and vehicles. I feel that creating this MOC will allow me to directly incorporate a lot of the awesome licensed sets threw depicting the "filming" of the movies. And because I am a Production Design major, I am very particular about the look and feel of things I create, so it is going to be authentic and over the top. I was wondering if any of you could poi…

I am going to get the 10240 X-Wing Fighter soon and I am just wondering if any of the Brick Picker members have built the 10240? Was it fun? Was there anything challenging about the set that I should know about?

I recently started the creation of a city made of lego. I'm working in the layout creation, lights. Future plans are a second level for both train rails and buildings. I added what I have so far.

  12. So I'm interested to see if anybody is brave enough to divulge their weirdest building habits/rituals to the community. I was building the Fire Brigade this morning when I got to thinking about this. For me, I make sure all of the brick studs with the tiny word "LEGO" molded onto it are facing the same way. I absolutely hate when the words are all jumbled together! So all bricks that go East/West I aim to the right, and North/South bricks I aim to the top of the base plates. Another weird habit of mine is that I spend an estimated 2-3 extra hours on any given set making sure all 1x1 tiles, studs, and bricks are perfectly lined up with the bricks below and above them. I…

I need help. I'm super indecisive and want to know what people think about this. The idea came to me so I photoshopped it today and have all the parts (minus a few hundred I would get by pick-a-bricking) in my bricklink carts and it'd be about $250 total to do. I love it...but I thrive on other's opinions...sooo...

  14. I guess it's because the Gallery is kind of that button that's hiding in plain sight, but I believe not many people have seen my MOCs I've put there yet (or any of the other uploads there by others). So, for those who only pay attention to the forum posts, here's a link...to the Gallery! LFoW's MFZ MOCs. This is a small collection of my mini-mech models I build for a LEGO tabletop game by the name of Mobile Frame Zero: Rapid Attack, where you build the mechs you use as gamepieces, the terrain, and the guns all out of LEGO (or similar brands). I'll be doing a large in-depth blog or forum post on it soon, so look for that in the future! …

With today's newer sets this isn't really an issue as they come in nice numbered bags that you open a step at a time. But when you get a large used set or heaven forbid you open a vintage set ( ) how do you go about the build process? Do you pre-sort following some routine or do you dump it in a pile and find each piece type as needed? Which way is faster? Do you do it your way for speed, or perhaps a more enjoyable build experience?

  18. Hi. I got into Lego at age 65 because of my grandson who lives and breathes this stuff. At first I thought he was nuts, but some of these sets are so beautifully designed that they are a pleasure to watch him build. He is 6 years old, and is very much into Ninjago and Star Wars. He has built all of the large Ninjago sets, the dragons and the Fire Temple, and he is into the ships from Star Wars. Anyway, we just built the Venator, and the "problem" with the build is that there are no "legs" or stand for the ship to rest on. The ship rests on nothing...it just sits there. We are trying to figure out a type of stand that might be built for it...nothing elaborate...something …

Just have to say this is pretty incredible. http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-57577773-1/behold-an-amazing-200000-piece-lego-alien-city/ Crafted out of more than 200,000 Lego pieces and taking over 600 hours to build, the sculpture, designed entirely by Doyle, depicts a wondrous alien civilization. There's something Gothic about his soaring spires, bridges, buttresses, and villages clustered about the city's base. 600 hours!!! Good for you buddy! I wonder if he will sell it to me for $500?

  20. If you're like me, you've always wanted a pub for your town! (Okay I actually wanted an Irish pub but this is good too!) This was recently added (I think, it wasn't there before) to the list of designs available at Brick Builders Pro. White Lion English Pub - instructions page I only wish I could find a real build of the design. It is impressive but would be more so if actually built. Guess I'm just picky that way. Added the parts list image. This design uses: 1,841 pieces

  22. Has anyone ever done this? I think it would be uber fun, (albeit wastefull) to build an old set like Jango Fett"s Slave 1 mint out of the box today. It would be so wierd to be getting those classic gray/grey pieces out of an unopened bag!

I've been thinking about using bricklink to build a set recently. Obviously it would be one that is since retired. I am debating between the Millenium Falcon, Taj Mahal, or Eiffel Tower, although none of those are concrete and I would like to here other suggestions. Has anyone had success with this, any recommendations on how to make it both cost efficient and successful?
