REI has a Lego LED Solar Torch that is a 7" minifigure on sale for $14.83! I've never seen this before, looks like it is not made by Lego just licensed to Play Visions. If the plastic is the same Lego quality plastic, I might like this! Does anyone have one of these?

  5. A little late with this bit of news but, eh, better late than never. Anyway, an article from Plastics News reported that the Lego company is planning on devising a new sustainable resin to replace its current usage of ABS plastic in its signature bricks by the year 2030. The search for that new resin will not be easy, though. Not only must the selected material be able to meet the same characteristics as the locking building blocks, they must also blend seamlessly with bricks already in children

Season 4 just aired its first episode a couple days ago which was boat themed with some fun builds. This time around the grand prize (aside from cash) is the winning design will become an official LEGO set. I do not recognize anyone in the current lineup other than Christopher from DuckBricks. Looking forward to watching the upcoming challenges in store and seeing the sparks of creativity fly.

FYI ... for those of you interested, according to VideoETA.com, the LEGO movie should be out on BluRay/DVD this June, which I consider to be quite short turnaround, but am looking forward to getting it.

Hi everyone. I am sure this questions has been asked, but I have not been on the site in a while. Did LEGO release new sets August 1? If so can anyone tell me an easy way to find new releases other than going through the LEGO site page by page? Any help would be appreciated.

I was wondering how many of you actually have submitted/taken this survey and if anybody on here has ever won? I have taken it several times, but I haven't won. Basically you go to the web address indicated on the back of the instructions, (I've attached a picture of it.), then you fill out the survey about the set. After finishing they ask for your email so they can contact you if you won. The prize is worth $80 USD. I've heard the odds of winning are anywhere from 1 in 1,000 to 1 in 50 so does anyone know the exact odds? Thanks.

Just curious, how does Lego go about production of the actual pieces? Once the molds have been made they can crank out as many pieces as they need. The only decision is colors and quantities of each. I also imagine they have numerous molds of the same pieces so they can run multiples simultaneously as well in different manufacturing plants. The logistics of how many of one piece, what colors, how many different piece types that need to be made (on a continual basis) is quite fascinating when you think about it. How much surplus brick stock is in inventory at any given time ? Then there is the sorting and the bagging and the packaging. The actual machine…

"According to The Guardian, "After The LEGO Movie, watch out for the LEGO reality TV show. The Danish toymaker is following the global success of its foray into Hollywood films with a move into TV next year." Jill Wilfert, LEGO vice-president of global licensing and distribution, says that LEGO is "exploring some reality competition show formats, which is new for us: the idea of becoming a Master Builder is something we think could be quite resonating". Maybe it'll be like The Apprentice but with building tasks and a job as a master builder for the winner..." Sounds cool.

Here's one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mr._Amperduke A pretty good comic on a "Lego" collector and his creations. No words, just drawings. A bit hard to find since it's not from a big publisher. I liked it though. Any others? I'm wracking my brain here....
