General Buying & Selling

Overall discussion on the buying and selling of LEGO

  1. Are there any websites to sell Lego sets besides ebay? I have a few sets I need to shed to raise some cash for unexpected bills. I'm trying to avoid ebay since the whole fee thing is getting ridiculous there. -***-

Jan 23, 2013 02:24 PM I sold some greeting cards through the eBay Global Shipping program. It is my policy to print shipping cost on my labels and send a note to my buyer that I do not overcharge on shipping. Now with the global shipping my cost to get it to the facility is obv. only the domestic cost. eBay then charges international shipping rates My buyer sent a message about this a…

Today I went to the Lego Store! Spent 2 hours at the Pick a Brick Wall trying to fit pieces into cups. ;-) Scored a Large Pick a Brick and Small Pick a Brick cup for a total of $26 including tax. In it were over 1000 pieces which comes out to be $0.025 per piece!!! I need them to make the 10189 Taj Mahal through the method of Bricklinking. Learned from the Lego employee that they (the employees of Lego) are NOT allowed to buy Legos to sell them later on since Lego employees were buying all the sets (he said in particular the Green Grocer) once they heard that they wouldn't be getting any more shipments of it. Apparently Lego employees would buy all of them...then se…

Has Shopko always had great prices on Lego? I went today to check out what they had, since I had never stepped foot in the store, and they had a pretty decent Lego aisle. On top of that, the prices were amazing. Keep in mind, these are their regular prices: Helm's Deep-$99.99 Jabba's Palace -$89.99 The list goes on. They were also running a 10% off deal until December 24, and had sets like Mines or Moria on sale for $59.99, Clone Wars Geonosian Fighter for $9.99, regular price. Didn't pick anything up today because I really wanted to ban myself for awhile, but the prices were really hard to beat. Is this normal for this store? They still had the Creator Seas…

I don't see a thread on Exclusive sets and Polybags. I am rather new to Lego collecting. I think Exclusives, being sold in one store only...may be better to collect as they would be harder to find for some people. but, I do not really know what sets are exclusives, or which store has them. I'd like you knowledgeable people to list the set #s and stores available. Thanks for the help.

Paging Legodog who I bet will know... Recently joined the B&****** club to get the 10% off discount in store. Two questions. - I got a 20% off coupon in my inbox. It doesn't seem to work for Lego online, even though they are not expressly excluded on the coupon. Will it work in a brick and mortar store? Or will it not work in store either? - If it does work, do you get the 10% as well with your membership, or will it do the 20% only? Guessing the latter. Thanks if anyone knows.

I am in the infancy stages of building an investment portfolio of Lego sets, and my wife asked me last night if I had a plan for selling these sets once I decide to sell. The obvious response was "Ebay", but then I started poking around the Amazon site, and noticed they had a program for sellers that sell fewer than 40 items in a month. The cost on the front page said ".99 + other seller costs". Can anyone tell me from experience what the other "seller costs" are, and how they compare to Ebay's seller costs?

I think one of the bigger cultural differences between America and Canada in regards to the hobby we all share is the means by which alot of reselling is accomplished. It seems to me that while Ebay has a dominant presence in the US, along with Craiq's List, up north Canadians seem quite enamored with Kijiji. More local than Ebay, Kijiji has some positives you don't get with Ebay, local pick up/drop off and no auction. I think Kijiji is pretty slick and the past months I've seen everything from Green Grocer to this 10179 Millenium Falcon listed locally. http://calgary.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-sell-toys-games-Millennium-falcon-W0QQAdIdZ460942456 Just wondering if any B…

  13. I just wanted to say thanks to the people on Brickpicker who have been offering great deals on sets for other Brickpicker members. I think these transactions will only strengthen Brickpicker in the future. Thanks again.

  14. At Shopko.com they are currently running a BOGO 50% sale. Use coupon code addcolor10 to get an additional 10.00 off your order. While their selection is limited and they don't allow you to double up on some sets they do have some of the newer sets at msrp or a bit lower. It is advertised on the website that a person gets free shipping on orders above 75.00 but through the website I haven't gotten it to work and haven't called them yet to see what the deal is with that. Happy Hunting!

i have come across a case of these bytar booster packs on clearance for $1.99 each. i counted 31 in the case. i have a $10 in store coupon that would bring the cost down to $1.76/each, including tax. looking at their current value on brickpicker, and some sold listings on ebay, it looks like i should be able to sell them for $5-$7 each plus a $1.49 s/**** charge without a problem. shipping shouldn't be too much, since they can be mailed in an envelope with a stamp or two, and after fees it looks like i could pocket approx $3.50 profit/each. my question is this...is all of this work worth the approx $100 profit i will make? i am more of the buy and hold investor, and h…

You may have seen on TV or sometimes when you're surfing the web, ads for sites like QuiBids.com or Beezid.com. If not, then put simply these penny auction sites promote themselves as giving people the ability to bid on a brand new item straight from the manufacturer's warehouse and in the end the winner pays insanely little for said item, like say getting an iPad for $24. When that is very VERY far from the truth. The way how these sites work is every time you click on the bid button for an item, you bid one cent. There is no way to change your bid amount at all, this is set in stone. And for every penny you bid with, they charge 60 cents up to a dollar to your credit c…

If you absolutely love polybags, and want 87 SW ones, feel free to look at this. Comes out to $242.46 in total which is roughly $2.79 per. $2.79 is a great deal for any SW polybags, but only think seriously about it if you have some serious ca$**** lying around and love plastic bags. Also comes with a 2 Walmart display boxes. Included: -18 8028 Tie Fighter -6 30053 Republic Attack Cruiser -43 30059 MTT -20 30056 Star Destroyer http://www.ebay.com/itm/LOT-of-87-Lego-Sets-with-Store-Display-Star-Wars-8028-30053-30056-30059-/221193262803?pt=Building_Toys_US&hash=item33802556d3

Shame on you people who knowingly buy from illegal drop shippers on EBay! The reason you do it is because you know that even if you report it there is a high probability that the retailer will tell you to keep the set anyway. You are just as guilty as the person using the stolen credit card and are contributing to someones hardship. Why do I post this here and why do I know this is going on? Because I have seen it with my own eyes and some of the people that are doing this are BP members. Shame on you and don't you worry you will get yours trust me! I'm disgusted!

I don't collect mini figs but I've noticed many posts here about how hard it is to find the series 9 figures. Today while looking for other sets, I found 24 packages of mini figs. With the sale and some other discounts I get, they came out to $2.50 a piece. my family tried to feel around for the mermaid, which was pretty obvious, but I'm wondering if other members here are looking for any particular pieces or just want blind unsearched (except for a mermaid) bags. Hit me up with a pm We might open a few more just because my daughter would like a few more mini figs for her relatively new lego collection.

I am thinking of buying Vampyre Castle at $96. It would save me almost $7 in taxes plus free shipping. I just don't want to have to deal with boxes again that are dented, rubbed edges, etc., as I want to hold on to this set for investment in the future. I had to return one large set to Lego that was dented, ordered 3 sets from TRU and am waiting for the store to get in some more sets so I can exchange one set that was bad. None of these were because of damage in shipment - just damage I assume in the warehouse. We do not live near a Lego store where you could pick out a box that was in mint condition.
