Greetings: I was reading the thread a few weeks ago with the rainbow 10179 and the reference and link to ebay for the custom black version. I know it's time consuming to go this route for 10179 or other big builds such as Taj Mahal, but what's the feeling typically on the money making side of this venture? I only really see the custom 10179 and there was money made on that one. My apologies if this is a thread already somewhere else. I looked for it but didn't find anything. Thanks as always!

Hi all, I've bought another used lot of lego and after sorting it all and putting the minifigures together, I went about figuring out what sets they came from. Now I've got a long list of lego sets to put back together, but the problem is that these are all older sets (think 1990's-2002) and the manuals didn't have an inventory list at the end of them. Do you know of a good website that provides a 'printable' list of inventory pieces? I'm currently just using toysperiod, but I can't print it or else it would be 15 pages alone for each sets' inventory!! Not actually sure this exists, but it would sure be a huge time saver!

What shipping service do you use to ship internationally? What service offers the best rates along with tracking/insurance options? Thanks in advance for the replies, my wife and I are long term sellers on Ebay and have shipped things via the USPS but recently have had problems with buyers claiming items haven't arrived or they let the stuff sit in customs and we get it back after 3-6 months. Of course Ebay requires us to refund the buyer in all cases since they claim they didn't get their item. Just wondering how others deal with this.

I'm curious how much people spend on a used set (that is still available in stores). How much % off retail would be considered a good price? I really want to build my Helm's Deep set but also want it for investment purposes!

I've had some good luck with kmart.com, and wondered if regular Kmart brick&mortar stores would be a good thing to add to my buying rounds. Do they have a specific day of the week for markdowns or clearance? Anyone have good luck there? Thanks for any help, as always.

So I am currently working on a blog article where I want to examine if selling sets together in pairs is really worth the effort and if you can really make more money this way. I have several pros and cons, but I want to get data from Ebay to give a good look at what happens in the selling world. What I need is some good examples of sets that are retired and sell well together. I thought of a few so far, but I want to get enough possibles so I can get enough data to make it applicable. I thought of these so far: POTC Queen Annes and Black Pearl HP Hogwarts Castle and Battle for Hogwarts What are some others?

Next week I'll be visiting my sister in Denver. My dad mentioned that there is a Lego kiosk at the Cherry Creek mall. He said they have some discontinued sets, but that the prices were high. I haven't been there yet myself to check it out. Has anyone seen this kiosk? Do they have anything worth looking at?

I am thinking about selling a few extra sets, lots, pieces, as I go throughout the year. I wanted your input as to where to devote my time building a store? I really like the Brick Owl user interface and communication from the owner. Responds within minutes on nearly every question or topic. But, I've used bricklink for purchases and it is the "go to" for so many. I know they are "suppose" to be updating their site in the near future. I've seen where people run the same inventory on both stores, I guess that is an option. Where would you put your efforts? This will be something I tinker with over time. Thanks!

Just picked up a deal on 5 x 7345's at 22.50 a piece. The deal itself wasn't so good but they let me turn them in for store credit at the local lego shop, which is a pretty rare thing i guess. They are selling for 35 bucks a pop at the lego store and thats what they gave me in store credit. Question is what to buy with the credit ?? What would be a really good investment ?? I was drooling over that death star they had there lol. I was talking with the manager and i guess when lego discontinues sets they actually lower the price on them. I guess they're cracking down on resellers and investors and you can only buy 5 discontinued items at a time. The manager was really s…

I need an advice. Anybody been in the situation when Ontrac site shows "delivered" status but package is not actually delivered? The time they show there is about 5.30 pm, I was home that time and later, so that's a bull... I filed the report on yoyo.com and received a response, just as usual "check with family members" blah blah. I double checked all my yard and the shipping address on yoyo of course. I'll keep talking to them, but I'm not too optimistic about it to be honest. Well, I didn't lose much, just about $40 order. So. Any similar stories with yoyo? I'll post if any updates on my story.

I was able to acquire an Eiffel Tower with instructions but the box wasn't included. Does anyone have one to see / trade? As of last night, I only see one on bricklink. Heck, I would be very grateful and even will "kneel before Zod" for help.

I know why they call it YOYO.com now because apparently they have a bunch of yoyos packaging the Lego sets for shipping. I bought a vampyre castle and a helms deep from them over the past week and both arrive separately and slightly crushed. They are sending me replacements, but I can't imagine they are going to hold up any better. Anyway...that's all.

Typically when you buy from Wal-Mart online and choose site-to-store for merchandise pick-up the item will come in a shipping box. But sometimes the items isn't boxed and they slap an adhesive label with your name and order right on the product box. This is what happened on my recent Lego order of a Golden Dragon. Fortunately this was a birthday gift for my daughter but had it been for collecting I would have been pissed. Just be aware.....

This has been nagging at me for a while and as Huskers mentioned in a post it should be started in it's own thread if the topic is going to be drawn out. If I owned a store and a customer was taking an item off the shelf and hiding it in the store so I wouldn't charge as much for it later I would consider that customer to intentionally trying to devalue a product I am trying to maximize profit on and essentially stealing from me. Would you find that customers behavior acceptable if it was your store? There are some people that would justify their actions and say that large retailers can afford to take the loss and it's a game to them. I don't see it tha…

I have one of the Gold Chrome 1-10000 C3POs that were given away at Comic Con a few years back. I need to have it evaluated and have its condition legally documented. Does anyone know of a reliable appraiser for Legos in the Orange County/LA County area of Southern California? Thanks. Theatrix

I just received a "package" that contains a "new" LEGO 9398 Technic 4X4 Crawler ordered from Amazon UK. This is undoubtely the most terrible package condition I have ever received. The whole package is wet and is wrapped in bubble wrapper just to hold it together. I guess the package probably once fall into the sea and then rescued by the coast guard or something... The box is very soft and is torn apart by the time I carefully open the package, not sure if everything is still there. Probably hard to "return shipping" in this case. Does anyone have similar experience? I remembered someone on BP has requested refund from Amazon UK. How does that work…
