General Buying & Selling

Overall discussion on the buying and selling of LEGO

  1. Started by boomzoom,

I have been selling CMF as a complete set. New and sealed. I am very good at feeling the package and identify them. I have not had an issue selling them as a set before until today. Someone opened a case (after 40 days of the sale) on eBay saying I sent him a duplicate minifig (one of not much value) and missed another one (which currently worth at least $15 by itself). I am going to take it as a loss. But that got me to think maybe I should not sell the minifig as sealed any more for my own protection. Have any of you have issues before? Thanks.

Typically when you buy from Wal-Mart online and choose site-to-store for merchandise pick-up the item will come in a shipping box. But sometimes the items isn't boxed and they slap an adhesive label with your name and order right on the product box. This is what happened on my recent Lego order of a Golden Dragon. Fortunately this was a birthday gift for my daughter but had it been for collecting I would have been pissed. Just be aware.....

Quick question for someone new to the Monthly build, hoping someone can shed some light. Obviously there is registration mid month for the monthly build. Couple questions; 1) What does the event look like? Meaning do you get your set and have to open it there and build? Or can you leave with it sealed etc.? 2) How do people on eBay who sell these have soooo many of them available? Do they have an inside source? Do they sign up for multiple stores? And is there a max you can get per event? Just curious, don't really want to get into that game... just confused how it works thanks

I know this set is toystory... but it's also also a train, will the good outweigh the bad? I see it runs for around $75 on here. I have the chance to buy it for $55. Should I do it?

So Galarco has been mentioned on here before, their Amazon inventory is insane, does anyone know anything about them? Do they have a real store? Their are basically on a Quidsi level in terms of many of their product stock levels. I remember they had a crazy amount of SW advent calendars. They have 320 Millennium falcons on FBA among other things. Seeing as the FBA oversize limit is 500 items, I imagine they have some sort of relationship with Amazon. 320 millennium falcons isn't easy for an individual to come across, Just wondering if they are affiliated with a bigger company.

Anyone care to speculate on the value of this item. Life size Lego Batman display. Approx. 70in tall and 100lb. I may have an opportunity to acquire. Thanks

Like most of you, I believe, I am new to LEGO investing. I have been watching pretty closely the sets I am most intrested in. Come on, we all think if we like it everyone else should too, right? I am learning that I need to think "out of the box". I have started to buy sets that I really won't enjoy building if I am stuck with, but maybe I can make a little money for myself to spend on the sets I want to build. Thank goodness I have Grandkids that Love Lego. I am intrested in anyones thoughts as to how they decide what to buy. Is it price? Is it just what you like? Do you follow ebay sales? Do you watch Amazon? Do you watch lego.com? Do you listen to what every…

Bit of advice folks. I am trying to complete a 8275 Technic Bulldozer before listing it. I have bought a few pieces on ebay but I suspect to buy all the missing pieces will quickly eliminate any profits on the set. So I thought I might try to get my head around Bricklink or Brickowl. Does anyone know any good Bricklink or Brickowl stores that are UK based? I was at Steam in Swindon last weekend and Minifigforlife.com had a stall there. Their Bricklink store seems to be good but does not have everything I need. I want one that provides a good service and good range of parts. Does not have a silly minimum purchase; Minifig for life is

Anyone here sell vintage legos on etsy? With a 20 cents item fee and 3.5% cut, it looks pretty good.

  15. So I recently purchased a large set (42055 - Bucket Wheel Excavator) from Target clearance section. Came home and clearly the box had been opened so I needed to inventory. Double checked the quantities of numbered bags and accounted for everything, all numbered bags, instructions, motorized parts. Everything was sealed except for the motor / switch board piece and ONE numbered bag. The numbered bag that was opened has a slight cut up at the top so there were a few loose pieces in the box that had fallen out of the bag. I highly doubt I had found them all...and I'm sure there is ONE missing or something. So question is, how do I sell this... will all the bags sea…

  16. I'm pretty new at all this so this stuff is all new to me. brickworld Chicago is June 15th(Father's Day)..so I figured there's no better way to spend it with my wife and 2 kids playing with, seeing, and buying(tons ****** tons) of Legos. Then after ordering off lego.com for my darth revan minifigure. I got the ticket deal and figured it would be even better to go to the discovery center afterwards. But I'd like to know of any tips (besides bring all my credit cards lol) that would be good to know for either place. Like..best things to see or do. The must-see's etc. thank you all in advance for the help and advice!

My mom passed away on Monday and my dad showed me these in her closet. He was going to give them to the grand kids to open up but I suggested we price check them first. It looks like they are fairly valuable and I think we could sell them and buy some new sets to give the kids (I know the 8 year old would love the new mindstorm set that is coming out). Here is what I found: 7715 Push-Along Passenger Steam Train 1985 7817 Crane Wagon 1985 6972 Polaris I Space Lab 1987 6921 Monorail Accessory Track 1988 Should I bother putting these on Craigslist first or should I go straight to creating an ebay account so I get maximum exposure (and hopefully bids)?

  19. I am looking to make several orders next month and was wondering the best options to buy and if Lego will flag me for making more than 1 order a day or one every day for a couple of weeks. I was planning on picking up the T1, Sopwith, Horizen, Pet shop, and at least one mini cooper. Have any of you made multiple orders in one day?

Most of my interest is in the hard to find sets (Technic Porsche, Ghostbuster's Firehouse, Volkswagen T1, etc), but I have a really hard time finding these on sale. Is this normal? Do these sets ever go on sale like the others? I find that even at EOL they still aren't often marked down. Am I missing the deals, or do they not occur?

  21. I have these Creator sets and they are priced well below the Lego RRP, retired sets. Just can't get rid of them for a reasonable price. I always thought Ferris Wheels, Ships and Castle's were popular. 31119 Ferris Wheel 31120 Medieval Castle 31132 Viking Ship and the Midgard Serpent Any idea why these don't sell? Thanks

  22. There is definitely some interesting reading regarding income tax reporting, but I don't see much discussion about sales tax. I am gearing up to begin selling off 30+ years of collectibles aside from my LEGO stash that is constantly in flux (ever growing). I've been a casual seller on eBay for over 15 years now, but only just recently have I begun to get all of the paperwork in place to become a licensed and registered business (Sole Proprietor). The collectibles were not purchased for profit, but they are still MISB or MOC, so those I'm not too worried about and will most likely start with liquidating those. Combined with LEGO sales, most of which were purcha…

Great site that I stumbled on and searching for some guidance. My boys are now grown and our collection of Lego's over the years has overgrown their playroom. Since the wife wants the playroom converted to something else the judge has decided the Lego's must go. I've cataloged what sets we own. Have manuals for all of them and a few boxes. All of them are used as they wanted to put them together. Part of me says sort into sets and sell. I sorted 1 and changed my mind! Assuming I have 95% of the pieces across the 200+ sets where many are likely full sets. What's the best way to potentially sell all of these in bulk? Appreciate any ad…
