FBM Shipping Template Update:

So, to recap my shipping template is for UPS Ground only.  An "increasing" amount of orders are only showing 3 Day Select, Next Day Air or even Fedex.  Ground is not even an option.  @cladner suggested its just a glitch and to F5, wait 30 minutes to an hour and it should be good.  Well its not happening.  I think out of 12 or 13 FBM orders today I have 5 that I cannot ship because they are set to expensive shipping which I have not set for.

Just spoke with Customer Support which of course was no help.  She just repeats what I already know, yada, yada, yada.  The resolution is to escalate the case and I will hear back in 2 - 3 business days.  She suggested I contact the current buyers and inform them of the issue so that they may cancel the order on their end.  For the life of me I just cannot think of what could possibly be over-riding my shipping settings.

yes but there is no way you can fulfill guaranteed 2 or 1 day delivery using UPS Ground (as you selected during setup) so amazon selects the shipping service to meet the promise you made.  here's the shipping settings you posted the other day (below).  as i said before, no reason to offer guarantee 1 or 2 day shipping unless you want to get screwed on margins with shipping costs.  if you continue to offer TWO DAY DELIVERY and ONE DAY DELIVERY - you're going to be sending a lot of pacakages by air, no way around that.

also allowing amazon to manage your transit time under standard shipping may contribute to excess shipping charges.  i prefer to define my transit times.

in order to be able to provide 2-3 shipping for free under expedited (not guaranteed), you have to break it down by region and subdivide it by state like i posted a couple of days ago (below).  i have zero air shipments this season (yikes - that sounds margin crushing).  i had 3 day ups to cali somehow slip through but other than that 85% of my shipping costs under $9 and is UPS ground.  everything i'm selling is package weighed, dimensions already entered.  when i sell something, i immediately purchase the shipping, even if i'm away from m y printer because many times you may catch a better shipping rate then if you wait to purchase the next day.  i print the label later on.

How are you all able to charge restocking fees now? Amazon automatically gives a full refund for my FBM returns once they get a scan from the carrier. It is annoying. Also I'm going to have to dig around to figure out how to set up shipping like that by region. I don't see that as an option either.

amazon now defaults to Shipping Setting Automation which basically lets amazon define what the delivery time paramters versus the good old fashioned way where i can define it now by sub regions in each state.  you still have to offer free shipping to everyone starndard but you can discourage far away purchasers by offering crap delivery time.  you can encourage local buyers by offering free expedited shipping to that nearby zone which if nearby equates to UPS GROUND and USPS PRIORITY.

i don't know away to disable this automation when you create template but once create the template you can edit it and then under that page you can turn off SHIPPING SETTING AUTOMATION  and then do it by region where you define the time.   this needs to be set to off.

No worries. My bigger question is can I opt out of Amazon automatically refunding.

Thank you! I'm about to shut down FBM after this weekend but I'll play with it over the holidays.

Unfortunately you cant , however it seems the $$ threshold is different from one seller to another. I need to manually refund anything over  $100. @Darth_Raichu said all of his orders are automatically refunded regardless of the $ amount

Did the buyers for these orders pay extra for 2-Day or 1-Day shipping ?  If they did pay extra then this was not a bug since your shipping plan was setup to allow that (regardless of shipping provider)

Great.  I figured that my chosen shipping option would limit which regions would receive the faster shipping.  Didn't know One or Two Day Shipping would just override Ground.  However, since you did advise removing the One & Two Day option I did.  I'm pretty certain I did this before these orders were placed.  Is it possible that once a customer places the item in their cart without completing the transaction it holds the original shipping setting?

Another item of note, if you notice in my original setting there is a charge for One & Two Day Shipping -- 10.99 & 29.99 respectively.  When I put the items in my cart myself I am shown these charges however none of my orders show the charge to customers.

This happened to me as well. I just manually printed out UPS ground labels through my account 😕 I'll create cases after Christmas to fight the bullshit "late" arrivals.

What I believe happens:
On the shipping settings page Amazon has a default for "2 day shipping" order before 2pm. I think it automatically assigns some locations a 2 day timeline, "assuming" you ship it out that day you can get ground shipping there in time to meet that criteria. If you take a day to prepare the orders you fall outside that designated "2 day shipping assignment" with ground. Normally this isn't a big deal  however Amazon has assigned your shipment as a "2 day fulfillment" thus you are committed to meeting the commitment Amazon made to the customer.

I've only had it happen for orders that had been placed the day prior. Anything i ship out day-of has had access to ground.

I've been shipping twice a day so I'm not sure this applies to me.  As @cladner suggested, I'll have to manually set everything because even neighboring cities are getting One & Two Day Shipping even though Ground would get it there anyway.

There's part of the rub.  It does not appear the buyers paid the extra for shipping that I had inputted.  So my big mistake was thinking by selecting "Ground Only" that would be the limiting factor while the shipping time actually was.  Live and learn, but where are the extra charges?

If you removed the options from shipping template then the option to select faster shipping should not appear on your cart.  Perhaps there is a different shipping template assigned to that listing.  You can have multiple templates but can only assign 1 per listing.  I would make sure the template assigned to the listing is the one without 2-Day/1-Day options

If buyer paid extra for shipping, it should show up as "Shipping Total" line under "Item subtotal"

Shipping templates are all assigned correctly.  None of the orders charged for shipping.

This is weird.  Based on your descriptions it should not behave this way.  The only suggestion I can think of is create a brand new shipping template (not copy) and set everything to just UPS Ground for standard without any option for 2day/1-Day.

There is a chance Amzn did not save correctly when you modified the existing template that caused the error/bug.  The fact that you could see option for 2-Day ship in your cart when the option was removed from the template indicated to me there was something wrong with that template.

He's got an incoming package..probably what it is. I'm surprised we haven't seen more on the Amazon forums though on this issue. Surely Bold Arrow isn't barely the second one?  Damm ...does it really end this way?
