Site Information and Updates

A place to learn about new features and updates to BrickPicker.com

  1. Started by Jersey Crewmax,

Looking at my post above (in the odds and ends sub forum) I don't see line breaks on mine but I see them on everyone else's. I see them when I'm editing the text and even when I go to quote but they disappear when they hit the forum. Any suggestions? I'm just hitting the return key on my iPhone using tapatalk but I tried going into and editing the post via the brick picker App but I got the same result. I did a quick search and couldn't find anything. Thanks in advance

  2. I would like to bring one new feature of the update to the forefront...The BRICKPICKER MEMBER SET REVIEWS. In the upper right hand corner of the new LEGO Price/Set Guide Page there is a box that is marked REVIEW SCORE. This will be the area where the average for all member reviews is shown. There is a link in the box so that you can review any LEGO set once. Here are the specifics: ***The number shown on the Price/Set Guide page is based on the average score of all BrickPicker member scores. ***The BrickPicker member scores are based on ten different characteristics or qualities that are on a 1 to 10 scale, which is averaged to give a set review total of between 1 an…

  3. What title says I keep checking list of new topics on bottom of posts, only to realize it only tells me the most recent topics created, not most recent posts. I've been missing discussions in some topics this way. Maybe I overlooked it, but is there a way to look up most recent posts (regardless of whether it is new topic or existing), sorted by posted date?

I wasnt quite sure where this topic belonged so i figured i would post it here. This may be an aweful idea guys so don't hold back on telling me so. What if you list how many other brickpicker.com members own a particular Lego set when you view the details page for that set? Maybe even a percentage would be more helpful to put it in perspective. I was just curious how popular certain sets are with investors here at brickpicker.com. I am sure there is a reason for not listing that info but I wasn't sure.

  5. does this site show the whole life of a sets CAGR and monthly listing sold to date? It seems as it only shows about 1 year back.

If you were wondering what the new CAGR statistic is on the top right hand side of the Set Detail Page, I wrote up an explanation in the Brickvesting Blog. Check it out. Any questions, please feel free to ask. I think it will be an important statistic going forward...

Hello, I'm new in this world but I'm realizing that in Italy people got this bad habit to blow up the selling price of LEGO, so now I'm asking... WHY????? Anybody knows why the price should be so freaking high without any "reasonable reason?"

  10. Great job especially for being as young as you are! (That was not meant in any way as a slam on your age, but coming in fourth at age 13 ahead of three moderators is pretty sweet!)

Hi... Jeff just added a couple of very useful features to the BRICKFOLIO. A 'search' option was added within the BRICKFOLIO to make it easier and quicker to locate a set. Another improvement is that you can now quickly see your sets from an 'entire theme' by scrolling through the theme selector in the upper right hand corner, instead of having to sift through each page. Also, your 'last set added' is posted above your list. This helps old and confused guys like myself remember what I just inputted into the BRICKFOLIO. We will be adding some more features in the near future. The new numbers for May 2012 will be up shortly. Thanks...Ed Mack

  12. Started by Ed Mack,

In addition to the various LEGO set reviews that we do on the site, Jeff and I will be giving the opportunity to Brickpicker members to add their opinions on each and every set in the database. The review section is something we have tinkered around with for awhile and we are still in the process of developing it. We would like to have your input into what is important to you when you look at a LEGO set review. Right now, it looks like there will be a basic template for you to check off various "bullet points." There will also be a section to add a paragraph or two of text that is your personalized opinion on the set. What we need from you is what you would like to…

Hi, Will it be possible somehow to extract number of listings per month for a particular set from terapeak. Right now we have average sale price which is fairly accurate and we have number of items sold. However we are missing very big piece of the puzzle as far as supply and demand goes. If I see that set only sold 4 times in a given month I don't know whether this is due to shortage or due to lack of demand for the particular set. Seeing how many total listings there were in a given time period will let us directionally jude the set popularity. Thanks a lot for an awesome site by the way.

I have a friend from our church and he's got a huge LEGO collection but I don't think he knows about this site and I think he would like this place and to be able to see how much his collection is worth. We don't talk much in person but we chat over Facebook sometimes, so my question is if I sent him a link over Facebook would I get some brickpoints?

I just sold a few sets from my Brickfolio and I was hoping there was a way to list the sale price and track my profits. Is that an option on Brick Picker?

If a set in the database is missing a photo, can I submit one? How?

  17. Started by stackables,

This is more of a programming question. Obviously the site used to use ebay sold listings to calculate values for the brickfolio. A recent comic book app has split ways with another company that supplied them with sold comic book values. In terms of difficulty, how hard is/was setting up a system that records ebay values? I assume you have to pay to get the data from ebay then design you own program to calculate values? How long did this take and how difficult was it?

  21. http://www.brickpicker.com/bpms/set.cfm?set=10182-1 how is this set calculated? a new set has dropped from $1200 in March to $680 or so in April. But look close, there were multiple used set sold for less than $20-40. There were only few new sets sold from $1100-1800. It is kind of hard to see your own brickfolio suddenly drops from positive gain to negative loss within one month but knowing the calculation is definitely off. It should be a price guide but turns out to be price scare. Could this be fixed in the system?

First of all, thanks for the effort made to maintain this website. I believe what I found was possibly discussed before..... I understand the calculation of the market value is averaged out based on the sales from ebay. However, I have noticed that sometimes for example, for a certain set, if you look in detail about the listing from ebay, you would see some listing has nothing to do with this specific set because the description might contain some info about a certain set but not necessarily it is the listing for that specific set. I also notice the following, for example, 21017, imperial hotel, the market value is 76.33. if you look into the sales, there is …

I'm not sure which forum exactly this best belongs in, but here's my question. I've been beginning to enter my collection into my Brickfolio. (No simple task, mind you.) I'd barely started when a question arose: when entering the condition of the set (new or used) do I enter the current condition, or the condition it was in when I bought it? To give an example; I bought 6858 Catwoman Catcycle City Chase, new, unopened, for 15.99. I've opened it now, so it's used, but it was new when I bought it. Entering it into my Brickfolio now, do I mark it as new or used? Any help appreciated!

Hello, At Brickpicker, we strive to provide fast and easy access to the great content supplied by members. Jeff recently made an awesome change to how forum searches work. Now when typing a set name or number in the forum textbox, the predicted top results will appear automatically and are click-able. note: You can also still search the original way. Here are three examples. I want to ask a question about that popular Batman Arkham. However, I can't quickly find the main thread (aka topic). Type "arkham" in the search box and the most popular Arkham threads appear automatically. This is way cool and easy, right? Now I can post my quest…
