HI, new member and first post and all that Love this site, I'm so glad I found it. As many of you probably know, here in Canada we generally pay at least 20% more for Lego than our friends in the States. I was curious how fellow Canadians manage to make this hobby profitable. After buying a few sets for my own enjoyment, I discovered this site and realized collecting Lego can actually be profitable, and in my enthusiasm I ran out and bought a couple sets I figured had potential at 20% off the retail price. What a great start!, I figured. Enter the sets into my Brickfolio and I realize I'm already showing a loss because even at 20% off I still paid more than the se…

Hi Ya'll So I was into Legos a lot when I was a kid (late 70's). I had most of the classic space sets, and Kings Castle etc. I haven't been into Lego since probably I was 12, but last year I saw QAR, and thought it looked really neat. I planned on picking it up, but never did. In early December I saw the Batman Arkham Asylum Breakout set was coming out, and my love for Lego was totally rekindled. I've bought a few other sets besides BAAB. The Winter Cottage, some more Batman, and a Vampyre Hearse. I am really enthralled with the Monster Fighters sets. I'd like to pick them all up, as I could see my kid loving them in a few years. I am starting to think o…

Hi everyone! I just recently got into investing in Legos just this past month and am excited to get started in something as fun as this. Currently I bought a fire brigade and two Stephanie's cool convertible sets because I thought they were good buys at the time, hopefully the future will prove me right Unfortunately, I havent really found a good opportunity for the theme I'm really passionate about, Star Wars lego of which I have a large collection that I'm keeping personally rather than investing in. The more I learn about this kind of investment, the more I get excited about making some good money on it but if I were just to make enough money to support growing my l…

Hi there, Like a lot of people on here was re-introduced to the world of Lego when my kids started receiving it as presents. The wife and I were totally hooked after looking round the Lego store in Brighton, up until then we were unaware of the full range of kits available. Love the modular building series, but probably have to accept the fact that short of winning the lottery will probably never get Cafe Corner! My 6 year old daughter is totally obsessed with the Lego friends series, which I think was a great idea of Lego to introduce and has broadened its appeal to girls massively. Most recent purchase was the Haunted House 10228 which i am very impress…

Hello all, I saw the article in USA Today which piqued my interest and led me to this forum. I'm always willing to entertain non-traditional investment ideas. You've definitely given me some food for thought. I played with my fair share of Lego as a child, still have quite a few of them in storage (none mint in boxes unfortunately). I look forward to reading more on the site.

Um, hey everyone? Ya, I've been to this site before, never really got into it, but what the heck, why not give it a try! I've been collecting LEGO for 5 years and during the same time have been immersed in the online community (particularly Youtube and Flickr) I started 2 years ago buying LEGO sets to invest in, particularly Star Wars I'll be making my way around the forums so if I'm a little slow, try not to hate on meh Thanks Everyone David

I've been reselling toys on ebay for just over a year. I've come across a few Lego sets, Black Pearl and Star Wars 2011 Advent Calendar being the most notable. I sold them without really knowing anything about them other than what I paid. I would like to learn more. I currently have a small collection of Lego sets from Star Wars, Monsters, Harry Potter and of course Friends. I usually buy in pairs or by 3s. I love reading y'all's posts on here and look forward to learning lots.

Wow...I was very pleased to happen upon this site. I wasn't too long ago that I figured lego sets could be used as an investment, given how they tend to appreciate after they're retired. That was a actually just a perk for me! I loved lego sets when I was younger in elementary school, but my parents didn't have all the money in the world and of course I had none. Many years later, I decided to go to lego's website and see what they were up to. I had noticed a steep decline in the number of models stocked in our stores, and the quality seemed to go down as well. Well I discovered they were reissuing the Black Seas Barracuda.....and so began my current collection. The next …

Hello All! I stumbled across this site today and really happy I did. I had always though a site that would list current market prices as well as current sales deals was needed. I have been an AFOL now for nearly 8 years but have recently focused my Lego fun to investments rather then play. I would peg myself as a small time dealer that primarily use Bricklink for transactions. My currently inventory is small and I only sell 1-2 sets a month. Investing and selling Lego is a small time hobby but I would like to ramp it up and I feel this site will help immensely. My most recent sale was the awesome 10179 for $2400! Not bad since I bought it for $400. I was r…

New to the site obviously, so Im kinda checking things out. Been on Brickset for a while, great inventory checklist and library, so hoping this is equal if not better. I'm sitting at around 200 sets to this point and starting to snag bigger sets now after dabbeling up to this point. Found a couple usefull tactics to help you get more bang for your Lego buck, but like most things, timing is everything. Bought my first large city set about a month ago (Pet Store) and looking to grab the Fire Brigade next since its the next retiring set and with the new stuff starting to come out. I alos am an avid collector of Hard ROck Cafe pilsner glasses from all over the world so would …

Hello everybody, I'm from Italy. I've been collecting lego in my childhood, they were absolutely my favorite toy. Then i grew up and lost interest in lego (is that what you call a "Dark Age"? from 9 to 23 yo). So, a few months ago (for my birthday) I received a gift from a friend: an 8088 arc-170 starfighter. As a huge lego and star wars fan, i just said "oh my god". That literally made my interest in lego grow up again. And with "grow up" i mean coming out like an alien from my stomach. It just came out the children within. Now of course i'm collecting star wars lego, and i came across this site while looking for a good way to auto finance my collection, and even e…

Hi everyone! I'm new to brickpicker, but not to the LEGO world. I used to have a lot of sets when I was a kid, but then my parents gave them all away to my cousins There were some vey nice sets there, but it's water under the bridge. I'm looking forward to buy some nice sets, especially from the star wars series. I would love to do some investing just in order to cover my private collection :)

Hey everyone, I'm both excited and slightly frightened to have discovered this site. I know what side my wife will weigh in on there. :-) Been interesting to read a bunch of the posts though and I love the analysis of the market. About me: Mid 30's, child of the 80s, now a dad with two little ones. I was a huge Lego fan through age 10 or so...drifted after that as many do. Now, my son is 4 1/2 and a Lego fiend. I was both proud and sad when we came home the other day and he quickly put together the TMNT Krang's Escape set, following the instructions, without asking for any help. MOSTLY proud though. Instinctively, when he started to show a hint of interest…

I just joined Brickpicker yesterday and I've added most of my sets. From what I've heard, Lego SW is the best investment along with Ninjago. What new lego SW sets being sold in stores or lego.com now would be good to invest in. Thanks.

Hi all, I have been lurking for a few weeks, but thought I best introduce myself. I am a 34yr old man from the UK, I was a huge fan of Lego when I was young, I had quite a collection, including (but not limited to) the high speed train set, and a weetabix special edition house. Unfortuately my Mum gave all my lego away to a friend who had young sons once I was more interested in girls and rock music. Anyway... fast forward nearly 15 years and I'm on my luch break when I walk into a local tesco and see collectable Lego minfigs on sale, series 4. Well I bought one, then the next day I bought two more and so on until I had only one more to collect (I had purchased a…

I've been playing with Legos since the late 80s and early 90s, but stopped buying them as I got older. Now I've gone back to my Lego collection in a box, but I still need to gather the figures and separate pieces. I've been trying to find the figures with the appropriate accessories, heads, bodies, hands, and legs. For display. I had legos from the early castle sets, western, ninja (not Ninjago), city (earlier sets), Rock Raiders, Time Cruisers, Islanders, pirate (earlier sets), astronaut, Robo Raiders, Aquazone, Insectoids, and many more. I may edit this as I figure out other sets I have. I have more Legos than this, sitting in a large box. I don't plan to sell…

Hello everyone! I am extremely excited to be a Lego collector and investor in this critical and fortuitous time for us! I have been a Lego fan for most of my life and am working on plans for current and future investments and sales. I look forward to meeting more of you and learning more about this unique corner of our global economy. Above, I have provided a poll that might interest some of you. I am fascinated by the rising prevalence of Lego's Collectable Minifigures in TLG's fan community and among sellers, so that is the topic of my query.

Hi everyone, First of all I'd like to say this is the best Lego site of all time. I just discovered it 2 weeks ago. I was a collector of Lego but I stopped buying 10 yrs ago - went into wine collecting instead!!! However this site has re-ignited the bug in me. Lego is so expensive in Aus we really get ripped off down under now I only buy from the links from this site. Thanks again Kean
