Overall discussion on the buying and selling of LEGO

This may be a stupid question but it was difficult to search for... I'm in the UK so generally look for any offers in Pounds Sterling (£), however seeing an offer for a set in Euros (€) on the French Amazon Store i thought i would have a look. In the UK there is a 21% discount bringing the set to approx. £87, in France the set is discounted by 33% to approx. €80 which is approx. £57 with the exchange rate... My obvious problem is that i don't speak French, however, if i can overcome the language barrier i have a few of questions... Are Boxes and Instructions Universal? or are there language differences? Is it likely that Amazon FR would Ship to …

  2. Hey all, I'm not sure if this is the proper place to post this, and my apologies if this has been covered before. As stated before, I am recently back from the dark ages. I have 3 young kids (2-5) and I'm looking for some bulk stuff to let them (and myself ) use their imagination for builds without having to break up/mix up sets. I'm looking at some local CL type of stuff, but I really don't have much of an idea of what to look for or how to determine what is a good deal and what isn't. For example, there is a listing locally here for ~12 grocery bags of Lego. Seller says it is made up of City and Town stuff (specifically stated there is no Star Wars). They a…

Hello, I am new to investing in Lego and I had maybe a little dumb question about mini figures in blind bags. It makes total sense to open each little bag to sell the mini figure inside but are there cases where buyers would actually prefer to buy the sealed bag? If that would be the case, I figure this would be only a minority of potential buyers? Thanks in advance for your recommendations

  4. I've just had a look at 21109 & 21110, the Exo suit and Research Lab. Both are OOS in the UK LEGO Shop at Home with Sept shipping dates. So if I can order them now, will I still get this months polybag, the mini Mini or next months when they come back into stock?

Howdy folks, I have been recently strapped for capital as many opportunities have come recently. Keep the info below to myself or share? Hmm. It is not gospel and it is only what I intend to do as I try to get more structure in my acquisitions. Here goes for some of the bigger sets. Feel free to comment, add your own, etc Past history in this series has shown me this is its second holiday season and if this line-up remains consistent it will the last time to buy this at retail. 10211 GE - Probably EOL 10214 Tower Bridge - still perplexed on this one. Have 4 would like at least 10...it is out of any other sets range I am trying to re…

Hello, I'm new in the community and it looks awesome, thanks for having me! I'm starting a collection, maybe looking into making some profit in the future: I could buy a whole collection of the star wars advent calendars at what seems a fair price, something like slightly more than retail price, all sealed of course. Could it ve worth it? Thank you for your advice!

I'm curious how much people spend on a used set (that is still available in stores). How much % off retail would be considered a good price? I really want to build my Helm's Deep set but also want it for investment purposes!

A friend of mine needs to send me something from the USA, it is about 1500 grams with a value of $600. I can't find the costs of shipping incl. insurance for this, could someone from the USA perhaps help me out? What would the costs be for: Package ~1500grams, $600 value, insured to The Netherlands. Thank you in advance.

  13. Does Amazon always just charge a flat rate for everything? The shipping is always a LOT more than what they automatically charge the customer ($6.95 I think). How does everyone do it, just charge more for the product?

Hey, I got a pretty ridiculous deal the other day. It occured to me it was a scam but the seller had 145 positive feedbacks. Can you fake that easily? Is it something I should look out for? Oh also if you get a tracking number is it definite you will receive the item or no. I know these might be stupid questions so sorry.

Number of pcs 1500 and more and I would like space theme but When I was searching I did not found anything space themed like NASA Apollo Saturn. Im not big fan of star wars series but maybe it would be okay too. Thank you for every suggestion.

I just tried to print an online label through paypal and it is stuck on "please wait...processing". I already got billed for this but I haven't been able to print anything. I have cleared cookies and restarted my pc. Still not working. Any suggestions?

I am new to selling lego from Canada and was wonder how other Canadian Brickpickers do it. For things like polybags i'm using the bubble wrap envelopes and canada post. It's larger items that I worry about. Who do you use to ship larger items? How do you package the product? Where do you source the boxes? Thanks for any and all help.

Happy December! It's that happy time of year when desperate parents pay ridiculous prices because they waited to buy that Lego set that sold out. I thought it would be good to start a thread where we can track what sets are spiking so that if you need to cash out on a few sets, you can make the best decisions. So far, I've sold my 4204 The Mine sets that I picked up on the $40 Walmart pricing error. They went for ~$140 apiece. At retail price, not the best profit, but I only bought them to flip quickly so I was happy with that one. The 9455 Ninjago Fangpyre Mech is trading at around $35. Again, not the biggest return on retail, but I picked up a bunch of these …

  19. Is it best to buy bulk mailers and put two stamps on each? Any tips are appreciated.

  20. I know its everyone's right to smoke so please don't think I mean offense to anyone, but has anyone got a set from a smoker that was very bad smelling, and what did they do to freshen it up? Again, I mean no offense to anyone with this question, just tying to find some solutions. Also, can you do anything about the box and instructions? Thanks!

Hi, I bought a 100% complete Sandcrawler 10144 and its in great shape. I'm going to tear it down and rebuild it for fun. It is dusty. What is the best method to clean a very dusty lego set. Just a rag, blow air, or put in water individual pieces from large to small if plastic only with no stickers? Want to get it super clean but not harm it. Thanks!

Here is a great tool for cleaning and polishing Lego bricks and models... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lego-DUSTER-KIT-Star-Wars-10188-10195-10198-10212-10215-/280608095278?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item41558bbc2e#ht_20253wt_1274

  23. Does anyone bother to remove the clearance stickers on your sets intended for resale? I was checking on eBay today to gauge values (Chima, specifically), and it doesn't appear that having the clearance stickers makes much difference in resale value. I've been removing them, and in one or two cases it actually damaged the box, so now I am debating on just leaving them alone. Thoughts?

  24. There is definitely some interesting reading regarding income tax reporting, but I don't see much discussion about sales tax. I am gearing up to begin selling off 30+ years of collectibles aside from my LEGO stash that is constantly in flux (ever growing). I've been a casual seller on eBay for over 15 years now, but only just recently have I begun to get all of the paperwork in place to become a licensed and registered business (Sole Proprietor). The collectibles were not purchased for profit, but they are still MISB or MOC, so those I'm not too worried about and will most likely start with liquidating those. Combined with LEGO sales, most of which were purcha…
