General Buying & Selling

Overall discussion on the buying and selling of LEGO

  1. Started by LegoFink,

Greetings: I was reading the thread a few weeks ago with the rainbow 10179 and the reference and link to ebay for the custom black version. I know it's time consuming to go this route for 10179 or other big builds such as Taj Mahal, but what's the feeling typically on the money making side of this venture? I only really see the custom 10179 and there was money made on that one. My apologies if this is a thread already somewhere else. I looked for it but didn't find anything. Thanks as always!

has anyone sold any items on bricklink, any suggestions while creating my own seller account? For me bricklink seems more attractive place to future sell my items than ebay as it only takes around 3% of your money rather than 10%.

  3. I've asked a few people on BL where they get such a massive inventory from and no one will share their supplier (as expected). Does anyone know where these sellers are getting their 500+ minifigure inventories from? For example, one guy was selling 500 Michaelangelos, and not to leave out his 100+ inventories of other minifigures from Hobbit and Superheroes. Does anyone know?

I scored a great deal on almost the entire run of the lego viking theme on ebay but a couple of the sets are missing some pieces. Of cousre I plan on bricklinking the missing pieces. This gets me to my big pet peeve about most bricklink stores. It seems most stores charge an "additional materials and handling fee". I can stomach maybe 50 cents but shouldn't getting the parts and shipping them be part of doing business on bricklink? You can get padded evenlopes on bulk for less than 10 cents a piece. I see stores who charge an additional $1.50 and fees. That seems like a lot to me. I can understand stores don't like to handle small orders, then just have a minimum or…

Hey, is there a way to print your bricklink want list without images? I just want to print a checklist without the images. I don't see the option or I may be just blind.

I have a question about BrickLink that I am hoping that someone more experienced might be able to help... So I've put together a "Wanted List" on BrickLink (for pieces from the Taj Mahal), and was able to find a list of sellers who had the highest amount of "unique lots" on my list. Once I click on a store, there are two options for "mass adding" items into your cart: "Auto-Fill Cart Max" and "Auto-Fill Cart Min". Is there a way to add items to your cart using the quantity specified in your wanted list? Second question: I'm sure that many of you guys have BrickLinked sets at one point or another. So how do you decide which seller has the best "value" for the …

Hey everyone, Decided to take a shot at BrickStock and unfortunately I hit a roadblock instantly. A lot of Youtube videos tell me to go into preferences and connect my BrickLink store via the network tab. I have done this, but received no "confirmation or denial" that is connected. I assume it hasn't though because I go to Import and try to import my store inventory and the option simply isn't there for me. Was this the difference between free and paid version? Or am I missing something simple. Maybe it cannot connect to your current BL store anymore due to lack of support? Any help is appreciated!

  8. Hi, Just seen Bricktrader launching/relaunching on 1st June as "the unofficial Lego auction site" and "the only Lego specific auction site on the internet". Is this going to cause problems / conflicts with Brick Classifieds launch or are they completely different / irrelevant to each other? Opinions? as I know nothing other than ebay so far (but I'm guessing Classifieds will be better/best). http://www.brickset.com/news/article/?ID=6606

Looking for estimates on how much you wise people would pay for the full inventory of a Bricklink store, where the seller is keen to get rid of it all due to leaving the country (how dodgy does that sound?!) I'm in the UK, the parts are in the UK. Total parts count is 110000 approx. A full range of parts, not just rubbish. Comes with all storage that the seller has been using to run the store. Volume takes up one wall about 2m x 3m x 0.3m deep Looking for just a quick estimate. I normally work at 5p a part, so we're looking at about 5500GBP. Anyone got any thoughts? Buying the stuff to sell on BL and/or ebay

Does anyone use the Brother QL-700 label printer? Does it print labels through eBay well? I was looking at this one as an option with using a Mac computer. I had looked at the DYMO 450, but read it isn't compatible with OSX post 10.4. Thanks!

Good morning everyone, new to the forum here, and relatively new to the LEGO game, approx 2 years. Have a bunch of sets that are built and a bunch unbuilt. After doing some research I see that even some built sets, if you have the box, and instructions can still be worth some money. I’m just trying to get an idea if these built sets truly do retain some value, or am I just building and displaying for fun? thanks in advanced!

Hello very new to the investing world of legos, although i have always loved to build and play with them. I always try and get my wife to buy them for my kids, when inside my head i know ill be playing with them lol. Any way just wondering about bulk legos and were you mite be able to sell them once you buy them. I have a friend who wants to get rid of tubs and tubs of legos for cheap. Thanks for your time.

I purchased a large bulk lot of random lego from a family a few months ago and myself and kids have been working on piecing together everything and taking inventory of it all. So far we have account for about 80 sets that are complete and probably around another 20 or more that are missing 1 - 8 parts max. All sets are from 1998 to 2005 approx. I was looking up the average used value here on brickpicker for each set and was considering selling them in bulk if possible for about 30 - 40% off the avg used value. Most sets come with instructions (all the big ones do) but no boxes. Condition is pretty good but some sets have a little wear from play. All sets exc…

I guess if you sell enough you're bound to get burned eventually. I've been reading this forum with the intermittent reports of problems with ebay buyers and felt fortunate I have yet to be scammed. But today is my turn and now I turn to the good people of this forum for some needed advice about how to proceed with my first dishonest buyer. I sold a minifigure on ebay 4 month ago (12 bucks plus shipping) shipped item off and tracking confirmed delivery a few days later to a confirmed address. Today I get an email from paypal that they buyer is disputing the transaction stating it was an unauthorized charge. Pay pal wants proof the transaction was a…

I have an incomplete MOS Eisley Pod racer set. I'm missing a few minifigures and probably about a hundred pieces, and the pieces are missing a specialty pieces that I don't have in my collection. I was wondering for any advice to you the make it a Buy It Now or an auction. Sent from my LGLS676 using Brickpicker Forum mobile app

  16. Hi, a stupid question. Do I have to pay any duty fee for LEGO I bought in BL that the package is shipped from Singapore? the total value of the LEGO is around USD$900. If I do need to pay, where can I find out how much? Or what is the maximum value that is duty free? THanks

Hi any good sources to buy lego in bulk? and thus at a cheaper price? I see really good deals on eBay and Amazon, which however sadly do not ship to this side of the world. Would be great if anyone has advice or suggest a shop which does international shipping. Thank you!:)

Hi guys, I wanted to ask for your opinion on a claim one of my eBay buyers is making. I am a newer seller so I don't have a lot of experience with problematic sales. I got a message from them this morning asking when the item would arrive. I replied with a link to the tracking, showing it had been delivered on Saturday. They then replied with this message: I just received the package today in the mail along with a letter from the post office, seems the lego got damaged during shipping. The package is empty and I believe they sent the damaged item back to you so you should be receiving it sometime this week. I don't know what that means for me. Do I get a refund sinc…

I just sold a Gingerbread house on Ebay for $50 plus shipping to someone with 0 feedback who signed up for Ebay today. They paid instantly through paypal and it was not a check. How protected am I in this transaction and would you allow it to go through?

Hello everyone, I've just scoured through "General Buying & Selling" and I don't seem to be able to find some tips on this. My wife found a set from some local seller and we are interested in getting it. The set that we found contains about 1000+ pieces, it is already assembled (according to the seller) but will be disassembled for easier transportation. We are meeting him over the weekend. We are both new to buying used Lego sets, so what tips do you have when buying a set from a local seller? How do we check each piece (or you don't?). I presume when the seller says "will be disassembled", he's not gonna disassembled it entirely. Thanks.

Hey guys, Quick question regarding Bricklink. I've bought a bunch of bins over the last few months and have gone through and sorted a good portion of them back into sets, but inevitably some are missing a handful of pieces and unfortunately some aren't available from lego any longer. I've made lists of all the parts I need but when I search bricklink its hard to find someone that has more then a few parts on the list. Is there a better way to do this or can anyone recommend a dealer that may have a vast selection of parts? Thanx

Have any of you from the US ever bought stuff from Mexico or South America? I want to open a brick and minifigure store at Bricklink and I would like to know if people from the US have to pay import taxes when buying from outside the country, I could ask a friend to send from the US but I really dont want to bother him.
