General Buying & Selling

Overall discussion on the buying and selling of LEGO

  1. Started by Tarvis,

Hi I purchased instructions for a custom lego set and now am wanting to sell both the instructions and the set itself. Would it be better to take it all apart and sell the pieces separate on brick link, or sell it all together as a set with the instructions? The instructions are for Brian Coopers Teknomeka mech robot. Also how would I figure out the value for both ways to sell it? Thanks

  2. I’m new here. I have a THE Lego fish sculpture that was displayed for years at Disney Marketplace in Orlando Florida. I bought it at a garage sale about 9 or 10 years ago because it was too cool to pass up. It needs to find a new home. Does anyone know how much it might be worth and where I can advertise it? I’d like for it to find a home with someone who will truly appreciate its uniqueness. It is about 4 feet long and weighs around 150 pounds so shipping might be an issue. I think it would be a shame to post it on local Craigslist, but unless I can find a better venue that’s where it will end up.

So in 2011 I started hoarding Lego... not bulk sets, but I had an obsession with buying one of each. This year I realized how much I had been spending and had to cut it off and start cleaning it out. I had no idea how much the stuff was going to rise in value and I started with the most valuable sets and cleared out my 50 per month on eBay without having to pay any listing fees. I got tired of being that chick who had two full rooms in her house loaded with bags of Lego sets. I've never hoarded anything else, but for some reason I started buying Lego sets. I was able to go cold turkey thankfully starting January 1, 2017, and just want to clear them out. So now I sit …

Hello, I'm new in the community and it looks awesome, thanks for having me! I'm starting a collection, maybe looking into making some profit in the future: I could buy a whole collection of the star wars advent calendars at what seems a fair price, something like slightly more than retail price, all sealed of course. Could it ve worth it? Thank you for your advice!

Hey all, I am new to lego and I am in my early 40's. I would like to build skyscrappers and would like to order the bricks that I need and not buy colourful lego sets. Do you guys have any tips on where to start and what to do ? Should I build using 1x4 or 2x4 ? What is the most economical way to build skyscrapers ? What's the most intelligent and cost efficient way to build with windows ? Thank you for your time

How do most of you that sell >20% of your items internationally handle shipping for items on ebay, where the combined purchase price can reach $150+ ? I've had a few orders now (Singapore, Greece and Russia) where the items seem to disappear for a really long time (20-35 days) and the buyers are usually most interested in blaming me, not the cheap shipping rate/company that they paid. I know that customs can take a while, but the latest order has been MIA in destination country for 29 days now. 99% of my international shipments currently go USPS First Class International since there is nothing else that competes for price. Is it better to reduce the quantity …

For everyone in UK and maybe broader Europe, please be on the lookout for set #40222 offered in large quantities below market value. Reposted from Brickset: Clearly, whoever has taken them will be looking to offload them somewhere so if you are offered any, or see them on eBay, local classified ads, Gumtree, Facebook, or wherever, take screenshots or photos and contact your local police via 101 quoting 13170537540. Not only have the sets been taken but the charity's delivery van has been put out of action too, thus denying even more children a little happiness over the festive period.

Great site that I stumbled on and searching for some guidance. My boys are now grown and our collection of Lego's over the years has overgrown their playroom. Since the wife wants the playroom converted to something else the judge has decided the Lego's must go. I've cataloged what sets we own. Have manuals for all of them and a few boxes. All of them are used as they wanted to put them together. Part of me says sort into sets and sell. I sorted 1 and changed my mind! Assuming I have 95% of the pieces across the 200+ sets where many are likely full sets. What's the best way to potentially sell all of these in bulk? Appreciate any ad…

Recently I bought lots that had sets that had been partially opened. Some of the bags had been opened but others were still sealed. How would you go about selling those? Would you assemble what was loose and leave the rest in the bags and sell it that way or would you open everything and build it to sell as used? Previously I had a set like this that I did the first method, but I don't know what is the best way. Which method makes the most sense and makes it easiest to sell? Honestly I am not too thrilled with the idea of busting open all the remaining bags to the10188 just to try to sell it as used, but I will if that's the best method.

  16. Greetings! When using an auction-style listing on eBay should I make the starting price the shipping price plus one dollar and put free shipping or start the auction at ($$$) and state the shipping price. Any advice would be wonderful. Edward

I've been listing Lego again on Ebay trying to sell out my collection for financial reasons. I was contacted by a person wanting to buy everything I had listed so far (about 20 sets) and everything else I have (about 80 more sets). He said we could do the transaction through a paypal invoice. He has been a member of Ebay since 2013 with 100% feedback. In his message his emailis different from user name. It ends with Uptown trades out of Brooklyn New York. Would you do this deal? I would have to ship everything.

  18. I have a 10937 missing the large #1 bag. Other things are all sealed in the original bags, including the instructions and plates. The box itself is damaged so I just put everything in a brown box. In the link below there is pictures showing all the contents. There are supposed to be 2 bags numbered #1. The big one is missing. https://comunidade0937.com/forum/index.php?topic=12431.0 A complete set on amazon is about $260. Any suggestion on where and how much I should sell it for?

  23. First time posting, but I have been lurking for a while now. I recently re fell in love with legos after building the Saturn V rocket. I was so amazed at the build and how every thing went together so perfectly. I immediately wanted to display it in my Man cave. After I did I started thinking about my other cool things I wanted to display. My collection of 100 amiibos that were just sitting in a bag came to mind. The rocket takes up a lot of room and I was wondering how I could display the rocket and all my Amiibos on the same shelf. I decided to build a 3-foot bridge that would go over my Saturn V. So far I have built a 2 level bridge and I have one more level to…

Hi everyone I'm new to all this so would appreciate some assistance please. I am am getting into Lego through buying bulk and separating out any sets based on instructions included in the sale. I am no doubt going to have some left over to create an inventory with. My question is how can I identify if I have any sets, or at least partial sets, from the bricks in my inventory? Along the same lines I've seen what seems to be quite a cheap bulk lot based on the per kilo price but there are no instructions included. Part of the description says there are Harry Potter, Indiana jones and a few other themes in there but how can I find out what sets there…

Hello, I'm in possession of lego system sets from 1950/60s and would like to know if anyone have any information about these sets(valuation, rarity, intersted lego enthusiasts etc.) that would be great, because I'm looking for the best market to sell them. Also they are in great shape, see it yourself.
