General Buying & Selling

Overall discussion on the buying and selling of LEGO

  1. Started by Zender,

I purchased a large bulk lot of random lego from a family a few months ago and myself and kids have been working on piecing together everything and taking inventory of it all. So far we have account for about 80 sets that are complete and probably around another 20 or more that are missing 1 - 8 parts max. All sets are from 1998 to 2005 approx. I was looking up the average used value here on brickpicker for each set and was considering selling them in bulk if possible for about 30 - 40% off the avg used value. Most sets come with instructions (all the big ones do) but no boxes. Condition is pretty good but some sets have a little wear from play. All sets exc…

Do you use the Global Shipping Program on Ebay to ship international? What has been your experience?

Thought a lot of you would find this interesting. This was a deal offer sheet from over a decade ago when I lived in Florida. 1 glaring set shows up on there for sure. The back story on this deal was these prices were all high at the time when it was offered to us. Also crazy how times have changed in the fact these quantities of deals do not surface anymore. Shows you how different the LEGO market was as compared to now. Sep 24, 2003 To me Sep 24, 2003 Hi, All new, retail boxes. Let us know if you have an interest, you can mix. Thanks! AKA my local Toys R Us. Only the second time I have ever been in one. They have the largest range of Lego I have seen, outstriping the Lego Store. Interestingly they had a lot of discontinued sets, most likely due to the prices they were charging. But some from memory.... 9476 Orc Forge

Hey folks! I'm relatively new here and have, up to this point, just been selling complete new and used sets. It's been going okay, but I think I'm ready to get serious about parting out some of my sets. I hope I'm posting this in the right spot, but I figured I'd start a thread which is a bit of a Q&A for Newbie Parter-Outers like myself. I've read quite a few threads (on Brickpicker) and articles, but I have a few extra questions that weren't addressed. A few questions I have to begin with: 1) New vs Used (Bricklink) - I'm seeing where it's around a 20-30% difference in Part-out value when you specify whether your pieces are new or used. Now, obviously "New" wou…

Something just happened that prompted me to write this. It's not a negative thing, just a observation. I have recently got into parting out some sets, so I am having a go at 75902 Scooby Doo Mystery Machine RRP £30. I have all the figures, the Zombie Tree & the Van listed separately. Fred Jones is unique so I sold him for a BIN of £11. A few days later I sold the Van for £15. I'm writing the address, it seems familiar. I check my inbox and yes, its the person who bought Fred Jones from me a few days before. So over about a week they've spent £26 only £4 short of the full RRP of the entire set to get about 60% of it…

  7. I finally bought it! This was my first and only "big" LEGO set as a child. Everything else was scrounged from a Happy Meal or hustled off some neighborhood kid for pennies on the dollar. My dad would only buy me Joe's, because they were the real American heroes. That flip lid means so much to me. I remember hanging out in the stores and that little plastic window gave me a glimpse into another world. LEGO made the best box art too. It actually represented what was in the box and provided the same excitement. Do you remember the Nintendo box art? Some of the best until you actually played the game. Man, what a let down lol! I'm interested to see others …

  9. I have been into the LEGO investing game for about a year now. Mostly impart to all the good deals shown here I have a nice stash going. I definetly want to move some sets I aquired at deep discount this year to recoup some money for future investing. Question is when is the right time to list on ebay. For Black Friday? after Cyber Monday? 2 weeks before the 25th? When does the mad dash for desperate parents begin!? Thanks for any insight on the matter, hopefully we all make a Scrooge worthy profit margin this holiday.

Ok I have two components to sell off first one is the new creator houses i have 8 31068 i have 2 31069 i have 2 31067 looking for 300. You can make an offer but I think it’s fair the other lot I have is every lego batman movie set that was made including the magazines the foil packs a case of both minifigures and anything else that was batman movie related. They are not in minto condition. They are some creases here and there no tears and nothing has been opened. I even have the lunchbox that comes with the dvd. So looking at retail I’d say 2000 and that would give you everything else free and ncluding the minifigure cases and polybags and th…

Just wanted to let everybody know that the Lego brick-filled ornaments are back in store and online. I picked up a couple sets for my Lego Christmas tree last night. Last year, the gold ones became nearly impossible to find and were changing hands for ridiculous amounts of money.

The size of the 2016 LEGO Wall Calendar seems to be bigger than the regular USPS envelop. I am wondering what is the best way to ship it? Thanks a lot

  13. Non-US buyers with US shipping addresses keep trying to buy my stuff on Bricklink. I can't even tell they are non-US until they send me a payment and I notice my paypal fees are 1% higher. I have notes in my shop that these payments will be refunded and I deal with US customers only, but they keep trying and I keep refunding and it keeps taking my inventory out of sale until I go and cancel the order. It's getting annoying. Is there anyway to block that from within paypal so I can't even accept those or turn off the auto payment accept so I can look through each one and approve it first?

  14. Just looking for some advice on how to proceed. I have ~100 or so Lego sets, mostly from the 1990's, some more recent, that I'm looking to sell. They're used but all have the original instructions (almost all of which are in pristine condition)and all have their original boxes (though some are a little smushed/bent here and there from being stored in a big box for the last 15 years). The sets are either 100% complete or at most missing a few non-essential pieces (e.g. minifigs, specialty pieces, etc. are all there). I've stored them in chunks in their original boxes and I'm in the process of going through each set and noting what pieces, if any, are missing. How doe…

I sent a package to Iowa with tracking. I just looked up the tracking number to see the progress of the package. The package was sent to Texas first wtf! I have the printout of my receipt and it definitely shows the correct destination of Iowa (IA). Anybody have this happen before? I hope it gets to the correct destination. Probably should have added, I am in Michigan.

Good morning everyone, new to the forum here, and relatively new to the LEGO game, approx 2 years. Have a bunch of sets that are built and a bunch unbuilt. After doing some research I see that even some built sets, if you have the box, and instructions can still be worth some money. I’m just trying to get an idea if these built sets truly do retain some value, or am I just building and displaying for fun? thanks in advanced!

  18. Started by golong,

I remember reading on the forum some time ago a comment that "you are not an investor until you actually sell some of your lego. Until then you are simply a collector". I have been "collecting" lego now for about 12 months. Like a lot of people I am very much focused on the larger more exclusive sets as long term investments, however, a long the way I have picked up a number of freebies with purchases, such as the elf workshop and some polybags. I also purchased some of the original minecrafts sets with a few to trying to flip some around Christmas. Anyway I decided to list some of the freebies and minecraft in the lead up to Christmas, on Ebay. It has been…

  19. I'm pretty new at all this so this stuff is all new to me. brickworld Chicago is June 15th(Father's Day)..so I figured there's no better way to spend it with my wife and 2 kids playing with, seeing, and buying(tons ****** tons) of Legos. Then after ordering off lego.com for my darth revan minifigure. I got the ticket deal and figured it would be even better to go to the discovery center afterwards. But I'd like to know of any tips (besides bring all my credit cards lol) that would be good to know for either place. Like..best things to see or do. The must-see's etc. thank you all in advance for the help and advice!

Testing out a new scale we received as a gift. It accurately weighs a test weight, however, while weighing a number of sealed sets (all of which were purchased from Lego shop at home or in store) we are getting different weights. For example, all of 6 Old Fishing Stores are showing different weights. The differences range from 2 to 8 grams. One box seems weigh out of the range at 30 grams heavier. We are finding a 2 to 10 gram variation in a number of sealed sets. We were hoping to use weight when checking other set purchases from retailers such as Walmart. Is this variance in weight of sealed sets normal? Is there a variance range that would be considered "safe" …

  22. In the "What Lego set did you buy today?" thread, I mentioned a lot I got over on Shop Goodwill, and how my bulk lot was confused with another bulk lot (that ended at the same time). My lot was for 35 lbs for $225 and the other lot was 31 lbs for $111. I suspect that my lot has a Market Street modular in it. When I received the lot yesterday, I went through it and discovered I got the 31 lbs lot. I contacted Goodwill today, and they mentioned that the other buy hadn't received the lot yet. This afternoon, Goodwill contacted me and told me first, that I did receive the correct lot, and they just misweighed it - they'd be willing to refund me a small amount for the mista…

A friend of mine needs to send me something from the USA, it is about 1500 grams with a value of $600. I can't find the costs of shipping incl. insurance for this, could someone from the USA perhaps help me out? What would the costs be for: Package ~1500grams, $600 value, insured to The Netherlands. Thank you in advance.

I am looking to sell this lot and have no clue what to price it for. If anyone can help give an idea on pricing as a lot? Manuals included for most and some still sealed. All sets are complete Tons of figurines and loose Legos galore Tons more pics available

Found a used bulk lot for sale locally, that I am interested in but the price is kinda steep. In the bottom right corner of one of the tubs in their post I see what looks like a black ship hull. The only set I know of with this black hull piece is the Black Pearl set. If this bulk lot potentially contains a Black Pearl then it is definitely worth it. I just wanted to see if anyone knew of any other sets this piece could possibly be from first before buying.
