There is definitely some interesting reading regarding income tax reporting, but I don't see much discussion about sales tax. I am gearing up to begin selling off 30+ years of collectibles aside from my LEGO stash that is constantly in flux (ever growing). I've been a casual seller on eBay for over 15 years now, but only just recently have I begun to get all of the paperwork in place to become a licensed and registered business (Sole Proprietor). The collectibles were not purchased for profit, but they are still MISB or MOC, so those I'm not too worried about and will most likely start with liquidating those. Combined with LEGO sales, most of which were purcha…

Does any one here have experience packing their sets with "Shrink Wrap Film" ? I am packing all my sets in individual uline boxes and halfway though it, the "wise" person we all have at home aka "Wife" asked if down the road would the film stick to the art box...... uhmmmm??? Would it? I am packing them this way as i am sending them away for storage , and I think the wrap will prevent humidity, dust and critters to damage the box..... Any thoughts? BR

I am working on trying to finish up a few sets for my kids for Christmas. I am missing quite a few mini figures. I would like to purchase a larger lot if possible. They do not need to be mint, they will be played with by little ones. PLMK if you have any of these for sale/trade. I don't have tons to trade, but I will trade very well to complete these sets. So depending on what lines you have chosen to invest in- are there any sets that you have that you are sick of looking at- wish someone would buy it already? Mine: Lone Ranger Jurassic world Although the obvious is that LR is a not sought after theme, and JW was so massively hoarded that there is not much meat on the bone. Needless to say that sales were promising around BF and have since fizzled out considerably.

I just sold a Gingerbread house on Ebay for $50 plus shipping to someone with 0 feedback who signed up for Ebay today. They paid instantly through paypal and it was not a check. How protected am I in this transaction and would you allow it to go through?

The size of the 2016 LEGO Wall Calendar seems to be bigger than the regular USPS envelop. I am wondering what is the best way to ship it? Thanks a lot

Has anyone here ever been to the New York Toy Fair? If so, is it worth it? I'm considering applying to go this year, but am not sure that I want to spend the money to do so.

I purchased a large bulk lot of random lego from a family a few months ago and myself and kids have been working on piecing together everything and taking inventory of it all. So far we have account for about 80 sets that are complete and probably around another 20 or more that are missing 1 - 8 parts max. All sets are from 1998 to 2005 approx. I was looking up the average used value here on brickpicker for each set and was considering selling them in bulk if possible for about 30 - 40% off the avg used value. Most sets come with instructions (all the big ones do) but no boxes. Condition is pretty good but some sets have a little wear from play. All sets exc…

Hey everyone, I tend to build and hoard Lego more than I sell it. This past year is probably the most I've ever sold Lego on Ebay, probably around $1,000 in total sales, which may not seem like much to some of you, but again I am an AFOL that loves to build and collect, and I don't get around to selling much. That being said I've never paid taxes on Lego sales, but in previous years I've sold around a couple hundred dollars in Lego at most. I feel I need to pay taxes this year though. How do I go about it? Do most people out there pay a sales tax on Lego sales? And roughly how much does it cut into profits? Anyone out there have info and experience with this?

This may be a stupid question but it was difficult to search for... I'm in the UK so generally look for any offers in Pounds Sterling (£), however seeing an offer for a set in Euros (€) on the French Amazon Store i thought i would have a look. In the UK there is a 21% discount bringing the set to approx. £87, in France the set is discounted by 33% to approx. €80 which is approx. £57 with the exchange rate... My obvious problem is that i don't speak French, however, if i can overcome the language barrier i have a few of questions... Are Boxes and Instructions Universal? or are there language differences? Is it likely that Amazon FR would Ship to …

Hi, I've really enjoyed reading this forum over the last month and appreciated the insight. I've certainly got carried away at times in the early days of investing having read some of the advice in the forums. However, I occassionally notice a post that says something doesn't really apply to Europe, e.g the popularity of a certain line, or where is good for selling, or the time it takes for items to increase in value. So as a lot of the advice is written with north america in mind, I thought it would be really useful to hear from those based in the UK and Europe. - What are the main differences for our market to the US - What sort of discout and ROI do you usually aim for…

Can you still print labels through paypal to Canada? I just completed a trade with a trader from another site and he never told me he was from Canada. I didn't find out until I looked at his return address. Can I still use paypal to print my labels and if so, is it still easy? thx

Hi, I am hoping someone may lead me to the right direction on where I can find clamshell packaging like the Build A Minifigure at the Lego store. Prefer to have slots for 5 figures if possible. If anyone have any idea where I can get them that would be greatly appreciated!

Hi I just have a quick question for anyone willing to reply, from the pictures of the 2016 lego star wars sets we see that 75136 and 75138 are close to lego sets that we've seen before.I have the droid escape from 2012 I believe and the echo base from 2009. Would now be the best time to sell these? as new versions of these sets will be coming out soon. And will the value go down for these older sets?

So I'm thinking about adding 14 day returns to my ebay items in order to become a top rated seller. It's the only thing left for me to meet the criteria. I have a few concerns about this so was looking for some advice. Firstly, is it worth it? I know you get 10% off your final value fee, but but how does this stack up against the extra work? Do people take advantage of this, has any one had bad experience with this? I suppose I'm just worried about sending out a valuable set mint, and it being returned damaged in some way, or people renting used sets then retuning them. Any always advice appreciated, thanks.

Now I would not call myself a LEGO investor, I am just looking to sell my large collection of LEGO sets ( around 135 sets) and make some profit. I have a large amount of Indiana Jones sets including some of the bigger ones like Temple of Doom, The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Temple Escape and am looking for advice to see if it would be better to sell them now or if they are likely to grow on the market. I would really appreciate this.......Thanks.

So I thought I would try and start a thread for settings for label printers people use - how to set them up and how to get started. A mod can add if others have settings and other Label printers people can use. Dymp 450/Dymo 400/ Turbos There are two parts. When you go to print the labels (like when you are purchasing them - if you already did, you have to void and start over - extremely stupid) click on the "printer and label receipt preferences". You want to go down to "Supported Label Printers" and then select Dymo Labelwriter 400 2.4x7. The second part is in the actual dymo printing preferences inside your PC. If you have a Windows OC, just go …

Check out the links for U.S. carrier's shipping cutoff times for this year. I think I am gonna close my store down on 12/13 since I will be out of town anyway for Xmas and I should be able to ship any orders that weekend to reach customers in time for Xmas. Hope this helps. I would think these would be updated at some point by the carriers to cover their butts. https://www.usps.com/holiday/holiday-shipping-dates.htm http://www.fedex.com/us/holiday/last-days-to-ship.html http://compass.ups.com/ups-holiday-calendar/

I just wanted to share an idea with adding pull out drawers with stack on's on them to my current storage shelves. Before I made the shelf unit I could only fit 2 stack on's per shelf now I I can do 4. It cost me $17 for the 2 sets of full extension drawer guides and all the lumber I had in my garage. I took a few hours over a couple days to build. Next time I build them I will make the base a little bit more narrow.

I haven't seen a thread on this and I think it could really help us all: Share your Lego negotation tactics. What's your approach? Once you've engaged in a conversation, what do you do/say in order to land a better price? I'm ok in my approach. Once I found a listing, noticed the phone number in the description below was inaccurate, and was hours late in texting the correct number. But I like to think my approach helped me land the deal: I introduced myself before inquiring about the collectionI came off as educated, or at least not un-educated, by using proper capitalization, punctuation etcI 'nicely' told her the number was incorrect even though it theoretically m…
