  4. Hello Australian brickpicker fans Just wondering if everyone is up to date on what the toy sales have to offer this year. Kmart - a joke with no real toy sale to speak of. Toy World - do not waste your time BigW - Not a bad selection with a few select items on sale below RRP (LOTR and Iron man) Target - A nice selection of some exclusive sets namely R2D2, police station and 20% off all lego Toys R Us - Good selection but most sets are retail prices of just below. Myer - Some fantastic sets and hard to find ones at that below RRP, ie Horizon Express, Sopwith Camel, Volkswagen T1 Camper van and Mini modular sets to name a few plus 20% off retail prices. So I will be going to Myer bright and early and Toys R Us. Plus the other thing i need to mention is Toys R Us (TRU) will price match and then beat the price by 10%. The conditions that has to be meet are that the other store has to have that item in stock and obviously TRU must have the item in stock. I know this works as I did it last year. Considering the rapidly dropping Aussie dollar I am very happy with some of these prices that are below RRP as I think the happy days of cheap lego from overseas is a thing of the past. I could and DO hope I am wrong and the dollar rebounds. Any thoughts on what set(s) grabs your attention?

  5. If you wanted to build display it---low 80s is ok--but it's already been to $75 with various bogo deals, and will see $65 soon. With the amount of figures and track sections--it's a deal at $65.

  6. From the album: LFoW's MFZ MOC's

Fighting against the Ijad taught the Solar Union one important lesson: desperation and determination can quickly lead to innovation. The design of the ST-02 "Scrambler" set the precedent for what would become dozens of quadruped frame variants, all of which the Ijad have succeeded with. The ST-23 represents the Solar Union's reverse engineering of the Ijad quadruped design, favoring more traditional weaponry to the SU such as the burst cannons shown here. The Castor otherwise functions exactly like its Ijad predecessor, able to quickly skitter around and up difficult terrain to gain the advantage. LFOW's Note: You're looking at a frame comprised of exactly 50 LEGO pieces and 50 KRE-O pieces. No I did not plan that out, but that's how it fell. KRE-O's pieces have impressed me more than any other LEGO competitor in terms of quality, color, and compatibility. Honestly I think the main problem with KRE-O is the fact they use bad CGI renditions of their models for their box art, instead of showing off the product in the flesh. This almost makes them look cheaper than they actually end up being. This frame here is made up from parts from the KRE-O Battleship line Helicopter Attack set. Its version of Olive green is a bit darker and richer than LEGO's offering. I'll definitely be picking up more of these if I can still find them. FLICKR LINK.

  9. I can write pages upon pages on this topic. But for starter, my top 5 TV shows: Game of Thrones - War, gore, fantasy, tricky political games, power, naked people, etc. No character is safe in this show The main drawback is trying to keep track of characters' names. Star Trek Deep Space Nine - Science Ficton, war, down to earth view of the Federation (as supposed to the pompous TNG and 3 characters show Voyager). Very weel written show as a whole, interesting and diverse cast. Sherlock - Holmes in contemporary England. Well made and acted. Other versions of Holmes, please step aside. Perhaps a bit too much Mycroft Rome - War, historical fantasy, power, naked people, etc. How 2 roman soldiers caused many major events in the ancient Rome. Everybody Loves Raymond - Laughter for all ages Honorable mention: Leverage, Babylon 5, Modern Family, Black Mirror, Psych, Top Chef

  10. List-alert.com is a man's best friend if this is something you're into. I make sure that it hits any listings for garage sales that show "lego" or "legos" in my city. Just had3 more yesterday. Got to the first one at 7 in the morning, and their lego lot had already sold(person showed up at 6:30am). Went to a 2nd that opened at 8 and picked up the lot that I purchased. There was a 3rd near my house, but a guy needs to get to work at some point, so I missed out on that one, but I have a big enough project in front of me with this one. Check out the site if you troll Craigslist for Lego finds.

  11. That thing looks like an angular, half-pinched, sloppy turd. And it's tiny. Doc would be ashamed. I really can't stress enough how disappointed I am. I bet the guy who submitted the idea is pissed, too. Boo this car.

  12. Headed up to Ohio today to photograph a wedding. Stopped at a Walmart in West Virginia and found a vampyre castle for $35. Seals were popped open but appears complete.

  15. That thing is uuuuugly. I mean, I know it's supposed to be, but still... And what's up with the front wheels not touching the ground? It has little train track wheels underneath that roll instead. As for investment potential: If the 30+ yr old guys here arent singing its praises, and they're not, I don't think it has much potential. If you can't sell turtles toys to an 80's kid, you can't sell it.

  16. While we're on the subject, is anyone else getting tired of yet another science related....thingy getting approved? Neat as some are, I am already burnt out on seeing nothing actually original get by and that ATLAS mini model has to be the worst one yet which ended up only getting approved because of Facebooks social network. The upcoming Delorean (fingers crossed) will hopefully get the rendition it deserves. If not and until then, I've lost a lot of hope for what CUUSOO was meant to be honestly. For the love of pete, may we please get something original instead of yet another obvious licensed idea?!

  18. Set looks pretty weak to me. Other than the Jango fett fig the set doesn't interest me. Jango's guns look horrible too. Is the Tank any better than the original?

  19. The set itself doesn't really interest me, but I do need a Jango Fett.
