  1. Reached out to a good friend that I have wronged years and years back and we went our own separate ways. Been meaning to approach him for a couple years but I’ve been putting it off ( think the old man and his son from home alone ). We aren’t hanging out for Christmas but at least we talked for a good bit

  2. Got busy and never updated but actually arrived at dealership the next day after posting that last assembly line photo. Took possession 12/8/21 from a 7/13/20 reservation... Got about 400 miles on it so far and its fun to drive. Feels like a tank on the road and lot more room / comfort than the Wranglers I drove for a few weeks. Color looks a lot more vibrant in the sun too and darker at night. Were shocked I was keeping it, said most were just having them sell on the lot.

  3. Another year.... another kid.... same train. It's clear that no form of non permanent birth control can defeat our ultra fertility. The oldest let me condense his zoo just enough to jam Christmas town in. Just a couple small sets added this year. The toy shop never got rebuilt due inventory and staffing shortages. There are a lot of set 10241 sitting off the coast of the table.

  5. Just finished the sitcom tower that's on rebrickable. Wanted a way to get Seinfeld into my modular city. Love how it turned out.

  6. 21226 Art Project I built this with my daughter twice. Once for the 3x3 art design and once for the classic spaceman. I wanted and kept the spaceman and she kept hers with the 3x3 art. Started with the 3x3 art, this was one of her Christmas presents. She'd loved making art patterns when she was aged 4-6 with 1x1s of all varieties so now as she is going on age 9 I thought she'd really love this art project and she did. It was fun enough I found a 2nd one at Target locally next to the Lego clothes in the clothes section. So glad it can be built little by little, I thought this project would drive me nuts. But I was able to commit to one panel at a time for like 15-20 mins per panel and stage it out when I felt like it and no rush. NOT interested in the World Map! Ha, after two of these I think I'm done placing 1x1 tiles for a while. Edit: Okay kind if interested in the World Map but wow it goes from 3x3 panels in this project to 5x8 panels in the World Map. That's 31 additional panels!

  7. I had a Covid Xmas, currently relying on an oxygen machine or else my blood oxygen % drops to 75-80 fast. My common colds turn to lung infections, so I should've seen this "covid pneumonia" coming and it's probably not typical for the 99% that recover. I kinda wish this thread would get locked as I'm fighting to post in it constantly (and now caved). Also, I like and respect people so much more the less I know about them, and this is showing a lot of people's ugly sides. Understandably so, I can't think of anything that's been so divisive, especially between friends and family we all thought we knew so well. There's so many variables in this, it's hard to have one direct argument. Religion plays a factor for many, trust in science/doctors, having/lacking common sense. For instance, if you believe that masks are a false sense of security, than a picture of Fauci with a mask down shouldn't really matter because it's not doing much anyway. The problem in those pictures is the constant lack of "practice what you preach" (Fauci, Newsom, Pelosi, etc), not the science or environmental variables in the scene. These debates don't work well when one is focused on science and the other is focused on principles. BioNTech CEO stated triple-vaccinated will still spread omicron and isn't enough. You can do your hardest to play along, get your shots, get your boosters, show your proof, and then enter a stadium or some place and are still told to wear a mask. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. I know we're all struggling with this, but let's stick together people. It's the best community out there.

  9. Was notified back in April that I was going to be laid off at the end of October due to our department getting bought out by another bank. My employer didn't want to lose me, offered me a position on another team, and said it was mine if I wanted it. I discussed this with my wife and decided to pass on it and make a career change after being unhappy in the financial industry for the past 20+ years. In late August, I took a couple of night classes (Interpreting Engineering Drawings and CAD with SolidWorks) at the local community college while I was still employed. Took the three hour CSWA (SolidWorks Certification) exam last month and passed!! Now I'm trying to figure out if I should pursue an Associates Degree in Engineering. On hold for the past 30 mins with the transcripts department of my former college where I got my Bachelors in Finance, so I don't have to retake Calculus, etc. I'm in my late 40's and know that I am lucky enough to be financially able to change careers. Just wondering now if getting an Associates at my age will be enough for me to break into the industry.

  17. I finished rebuilding 10255 Assembly Square this morning. I ended up completing 8 modulars and the Lantern Festival in Mils. Only 6 modulars plus extras to go next year. I hope to run Christmas lights through the town next year, but between life, a second child, and the fact I didn't even get to build the Christmas sets this year, I doubt it happens. Merry Christmas everybody. Yay LEGO!

  19. Finally got around to building the Blacksmith Shop I scored for 30% off a few months. I have to say that this was a very enjoyable build and will stay in my collection. The light brick gimmick is actually really cool.

  20. We build our "LEGO Wall" every year, it's become a fun tradition for us. Here is this year's 2021 Christmas haul. We're cracking the Titanic tonight!! Can't wait! Time to get busy! Happy Building Everyone!!!

  21. Man, Time marches on. 8 months since the last post. I’m going to focus on the happy fact that it doesn’t look exactly the same. As opposed to focusing on the unhappy fact that it’s not as far along as I would like! Here’s where we sit today. Next step is to build the plywood riser for the back portion that the trains run under. Cross your fingers on that happening next week!

  22. I'm no fan of Biden, but this is despicable. Some people show no respect to the presidency anymore. We should not be cursing out the President, our duly elected leader, despite whatever your feelings are for him. How are we as a country supposed to come together and accomplish things if half the country is cursing out the Commander in Chief? Truly sad.

  26. It wasn't today, this was actually back on Sunday. I ran the Houston Marathon in 3:16:28, and qualified for my first Boston Marathon at age 46. I'm still flying high, enjoying the break from running this week, and eating anything I can get my hands on.

  35. Chickens definitely have different personalities! We have 12 chickens and have named each one. My wife calls them her emotional support animals. She loves them so much. She holds them in her lap, lets them stand on her head or shoulders, and cuddles them all the time. As for bees, she wants to do that too, but we already have two dogs, a tarantula, a ball python, and the aforementioned 12 chickens. *facepalm*

  36. Have been staying away from this thread until I watched the third episode last night. Everyone's posts are spot on. Weakest episode so far. That chase seen was downright awful. I'll leave this pic as my contribution to this thread for the week.

  38. RIP Magawa Magawa, the famous mine-clearing rat who was awarded a gold medal for his heroism, has died at the age of eight. In a five-year career, the rodent sniffed out over 100 landmines and other explosives in Cambodia. The African giant pouch rat "passed away peacefully". It said Magawa was in good health and "spent most of last week playing with his usual enthusiasm". But by the weekend "he started to slow down, napping more and showing less interest in food in his last days".

  40. So I'm on quarantine. Got covid from a vaccinated employee (I'm vaxed and boosted). Feel fine. Just very minor cold symptoms. I'm locked in my guest attic suite. Here was my weekend (built it in 2 days) covid project I picked up used for $150 before christmas. Needed to build to confirm all pieces are accounted for. Only missing 4 pieces. Not too bad considering the set was owned by a family with kids.
