Looks like I am over this whole LEGO is better than gold thing. When I see a collection of dioramas marked as UCS, all I can say is "meh"7 points

I will say the art on the side of the box here is absolutely f**king awesome. Seriously, damn. Frame that and put it on the wall.5 points

I did not hold any expectations aside from being large. It is neat for a possibly wall mounted collection of dioramas ....that we kind of already have from over the years individually. This is the sort of build I might expect to see at a Brickfair as a habitat showcasing all the well-known scenes of the Death Star within the homage of one. I wonder what the backside looks like. Also, where is the hot tub at? Haha. At least it is different from the previous iterations ....while simultaneously doing the same thing. I am certainly not the market for this (and still a cheap ass penny pinching son of a brick). It's okay, just not for me.5 points

I'm really worried that they are just saying f- it, let's see how much these rubes will pay. I've got 15 $200+ sets on my wishlist all waiting for some kind of 20%+ sale as they are all $30-$100 overpriced (IMHO). This set at $430 feels $80 - $100 overpriced.5 points

Drama sells clicks is the short answer, and part of the reason such extreme opinions of dismay have become popularized & normalized across YouTube. When the thumbnail and rant both come across as though somebody had just set their dog on fire, took a dump on the front porch, then pissed in the gas tank before dropping an eviction notice attached to a medical report saying they have cancer plus nine STDs with a bonus UTI, there is no critique to be found. All we have at the moment is a couple images of the included minifigures and some details on the build itself, yet these channels are making statements as if they have seen the complete package already. With so little to actually go on, I find their lack of faith ....boring. While here I am pondering what the heck an official on the shelf $1,000 LEGO set is going to look like.4 points

A lot of youtubers are slamming this set. I get the dissatisfaction, but I think some folks are overreacting. Even M&R made quite a lot of positive comments and observations. Personally, I do like the set...something I could actually display vice a huge 3D grey Lego ball we supposedly all wanted. I just wish the price was $850, to take over the MILF spot before fading into retirement. GWP rumor is a TIE Fighter with a couple of minifigs...don't think that we be enough for people to line up on release day.3 points

I've spent months, blocking channels that post negative, outrage videos on anything lego. I finally got my feed to where i'm getting more pleasant and more reasonable channels... if I click on that video from M&R, then months worth of work will be unraveled, and youtube will start feeding me the outrage channels again. It's like playing duck hunt blocking the negative nancy channels, in order to give a middle finger to the algorithm. Anyway, I don't know the dimensions on this set, but I do like the design, and it looks heavily detailed. There's supposedly 9000 pieces, so that's a good couple weeks worth of building, and i'm sure it will be interesting to build. The only mini that peaks my interest is the Imperial Dignitary, and to a lesser extent Galen Erso. Everything else is pretty much also in the older sets. This is a set you use your lego rewards points on, and either buy out of the gates and get the special GWP that will probably go for a good amount on ebay....or wait a year until the sales hit. Regardless, I will buy this one. I bought the original one (still mintly boxed), and the second version, but the second version grew quite nicely in value, that I sold it off. I want to get this new version, and build it. I do hope one day, they make a Death Star like the previous version, but it's covered in plates, and looks like an entire Death Star. That's what I was hoping for originally, with this version, but ohh well. This new one is still a nicely designed set.3 points

I got this set and built it today. Overall, its a very detailed set, although it is fairly small compared to the 20th Anniversary Slave 1 from a few years back. However, the build is quite nice and it has 707 parts and overall that provides a lot of nice detail for the size of the model. Old versions of this ship are not as clean, IMO. Theres not many studs showing on the exterior of this set and the play features are simple, yet have a nice level of sophistication, especially the part where you push in the nose of the base and it will deploy the bombs. The stand that comes with it is also very simple but extremely useful. So id say the pros are its a good, fun build and looks accurate to the source material. Good minis too. Cons - id rank the 20th anniversary Slave 1 as the best Slave 1 ever made and ahead of this set. The size on this Slave 1 is good if you dont have a lot of shelf space, but if youre looking for minifig scale, the UCS version is probably the best version. This one feels more like a midi scale version. The Lama Su figure is also awesome. I had to add that one to our prequel mini display.3 points

I look to be entertained watching a lego review. Jang is like anesthesia for me. Instant sleep. MandR is cool and entertaining, in a space dominated by nerds. Not that hes not a nerd. But at least somewhat cool entertaining one. And whether hes biased towards more critical reviews or not. His takes are based on a deep knowledge of star wars and lego and definitely valid.3 points

That's actually a really well done review page. Didn't know people were using instagram to make reviews like that. I think people that are harping about prices are forgetting that lego spent billions of dollars on factories around the world and have to recoup their investment. Also, we have tariffs and inflation in play. Also, as brickpickers, we should be a little honest with ourselves too. If you had purchase a bunch of 75151 Clone Turbo Tanks when that set came out in 2016, you could have resold them for close to 600.00 a few months ago. Even if you bought those at retail back in the day at 109.99, you still are making over 450.00 profit on that set. Lego obviously sees how these sets increase in value like that, and guarantee that has played a role in the price spikes. That's why we are seeing a 1000.00 Death Star this month. The Original Death Star was sold for 399.99 and now sells for about 900 in the box, while the updated version from 2017 can sell for over 1500.00. Lego is obviously trying to capture some of that after market value that they know will happen once the sets retire. Even at 170 retail (which I know wont be what I pay for it since I can wait for the price drops in the coming months), this set will still increase in value beyond it's RRP once it retires. If people do buy it and take care of it, they'll have an asset better than most stocks.2 points

I don't agree that M&R hates every set that comes out. I'd say he has high expectations based on a long history with the hobby (now career). For example, when he says LEGO would've done a better job on these minifigures 10 years ago, that may be whining but it also matters considering the current value proposition is worse than 10 years ago and newer consumers lack that context. It isn't the best they are capable of (despite their lofty motto) while continually squeezing the YoY profits higher and higher. Jang remains the gold standard. Unfortunately LEGO is pricing (and pre-distributing) him out of many of their flagship sets - no way he spends $1000 (of his own money) on a Death Star at public release just to review it a month after all the pre-loaded LAN slop soaks up the views with pointless positivity.2 points

Supposedly there are two more Star Wars sets coming out this year. 1st one is a Death Star UCS/Master Builder set that contains over 9000 pieces and will retail at 999.99 2nd set is supposedly a 70.00 holiday themed set. Supposedly its a Darth Vader Tie Fighter in gingerbread colors, although i've also heard it's a gingerbread midi scale At-At, but no pictures of it yet to confirm either. Regardless, I want to rant about something. | RANT ON I am finding myself highly annoyed with a majority of lego youtube personalities. After the Death Star was announced, and some information about it was leaked, there was such a whine-fest throughout all the youtube channels. In fact, if you search "Lego Death Star 2025" - all the searches that come up are whinefests. You would think Lego killed their first borns or something, if you watch their videos. I find it highly annoying to even watch 99% of the channels on Youtube. All I want is the information on what's coming out without the whiney crybaby opinions that these so called "influencers" bring to their channels. Let me make my own opinion if I want to buy it or not, I'm not going to be influenced by some dude like M&R productions who obviously profiteers on being a whiney negative nancy 24-7. The dude hates every set that comes out, but he always has to review them, and own them. Why be so into something you hate so much? Get a new hobby. So many channels act like that guy now, and it's left a BIG void on youtube - I'm like Huey Freaking Lewis anymore, and I need a new drug - I want just a simple youtuber that just announces what is coming without giving me his whiney opinion on why it's horrible, and that lego is dead. Lego is not dead, they still make good sets, and they wow me about 3 to 4 times a year with sets. I dont need to be wowed by every set, but THE BEST PART IS NO PICTURE OF THE DEATH STAR SET HAS EVEN LEAKED YET, AND THESE GUYS HAVE ALL MADE UP THEIR OPINIONS! It's a total idiocracy on youtube anymore when it comes to people that have made their personalities about lego content. RANT OFF!2 points

Just for archive purposes - These were the sets for Jurassic World Rebirth wave. Overall the sets are decent, although after watching the movie, it would have made more sense to have a mososaurus and spinosaurus combined into the big set. And some of the vehicles werent really needed in these sets, as there was only one vehicle in the entire movie on that island. But overall the sets all reference parts of the movie, but dont coincide with the correct scenes. I feel they are all good regardless, and if you get all of the sets you will pretty much have all the main dinos and all the most important characters in the movie, plus a couple dioramas from the film. The only thing i hope for next year is one more set. They need to make a 199.99 set with the abandoned ingen containment facility that also comes with a Distortus Rex and a Mutodon. I feel these Rebirth sets arent complete until theres a set with those 2 creatures. Im suprised neither of those 2 were in any set, to be honest.2 points

I'll say that I'm glad to see the Imperial Dignitary. I had wondered if they would lean into the ROTJ figures with this set, or if they might hold them back for a UCS DS2 in another 5-10 years.2 points
