Put my life at risk and met @$20 on joe vs danfor a local sale yesterday. Sold him and his kiddo an open box 10212 UCS Imperial Shuttle with sealed bags. Nice meeting and chatting with a local picker. Enjoy the set!30 points

Mine is of my father when we were on a Lego run together a few years back. He got a little too excited as he was loading our bounty into my trunk. Shopko (remember that store?) used to be a great place to load up on deals when the stars and planets aligned. Clearance, coupons, and senior day (extra 15% off entire purchase) would all stack. I’d give him a stack of cash and would show him what to buy. He’d go check out and use his senior discount as I would wait in the car. We made some epic runs. There were about a dozen Shopko stores within a twenty-five mile radius of my home. A few years27 points

Just a reminder to everyone - and this isn’t directed at any one in particular as we’ve all been guilty lately - this thread is for posting of deals. We’ve been lax with the cross talk lately, but as the holidays approach, and potential deals come around, let’s keep it to a minimum. Instead, I encourage you to check out all the other forums we have. There’s a topic for just about every set out there. And if there’s not, create one! We have topics on speculating what’s going to retire, investment strategies, clearance at individual stores. Please go check them out. Thank you!26 points

Built my first 3 Lego sets in almost 15 years. Can't wait to build and display the other skyline. About the display: I wanted to display my skyline sets using the Kasseby display boxes as posted by others. However, some of the newer sets are much deeper (>10cm) and did not fit in the boxes. Here is my alternative which in my opinion looks nicer and is cheaper: 2 x IKEA Mosslanda (115 cm) 2 x IKEA SÄVSTA Memo board for the black background Clear Acrylic sheet from Home Depot L26 points

I got together with my Dad yesterday for his birthday, and he gave me this from when I was a kid. He specified, "it's not for you to sell, it's to put together with your girls." Box, instructions, and all parts. I spent HOURS playing with this set back in '84/'85.25 points

Turned a book shelf destined for the dump into a nice piece for the baby's room. (took about 2 weeks between sanding, painting and staining.)22 points

So here is what I have been working on this quarantine. Before: After: Needs a bit of trim and some paint. Everything is easily removable so it can switch back to being a clothes closet. Stores the same amount of LEGO as before. Not visible are the left and right alcoves (about 2ftx2ft each) that contain more boxes and storage. Can't wait to start using it!22 points

Built the corner garage on Monday/Tuesday and the Bookshop on Wednesday/Thursday. I like both builds and really notice the improved techniques in the modular line, especially for similar areas to other modulars, or when comparing to city mini builds. As blasphemous as this is: Green Grocer needs an update. The Garage feature is excellent (at least it's my son's favourite besides the fire truck) and is well designed. The rolling door is not for little hands though and the greebling was VERY annoying. I hope Lego figures out a way to take a similar set and make it a reverse corner in the futu21 points

Wife wanted a home office and the only option was our garden shed out back. Took about three weeks. Had to install three new larger windows, new subfloor, reframed the door and installed a new one, trenched and buried electrical 75ft, new 20 amp breaker in the panel wired, vapor barrier, insulation, wood tongue and groove pine, installed a screen door. Likely do plywood planks for the floor tomorrow. All told about $1000 w a small window A/C unit. It’s only about 70 sqft so not much of a chance for multi use space. It was her Mother’s Day/ birthday gift. She keeps calling it our Covid Cabin.21 points

Ok, it is the holiday lull... unless you chose to ship FBM this year! So, a diversion is in order. I have been planning on building a city for a while, and it is nearly time. To be honest, I resell lego just to fund my lego city account. Our basement is almost done, (I will start building new lego tables in January) and I have an area, not as large as I would like, but much bigger than nothing! So I am building a tiered city, using Eureka Springs, Arkansas as my inspiration It. It is built into the side of an Ozark Mountain, and it very "tiered". I would love to see all of your la20 points

Curious how in-store stocks are holding up since it seems that many online sources are drying up -- good for resellers and any of us LLQF's LEGO SAH makes it easy to breakdown by price and what's in stock (once you eliminate the items that are not buildable sets -- i.e. STEM kits, EV3 modules, etc... that still show in the list even though you specify "Sets" in the filter). Here's their status (US market) as I measured: Price Range, Sets Available, As a Percent >$100: 18, 23% $75 to $100: 13, 19% $50 to $75: 17, 26% $25 to $50: 27% (stopped screening build20 points

Maybe it's just my age (60) but there comes a time in a man's life that you aren't willing to jump through all the hoops. If B&N wants to sell to me, fine. If they want to play their silly little games then they can kiss my fat ass. There is too much other low-hanging fruit out there.20 points

My goal is to build my city into a coffee table. I wanted something that I could drop modulars into as well as design my own. I also needed a train because what is a Lego city without a train. I'm currently working to modify the Hogwarts express to fit under my arch way. Soon I'll start adding lighting. I am now considering expanding the city and going away from the coffee table idea. I also sell Lego to fund the habit.19 points

I had to build one of my Diners. They just look too cool. Its definitely among my favorite modulars so far.19 points

Went to Yosemite on Saturday. Here's of pic of me and the kids in Yosemite Valley with El Capitan on the left and Half Dome all the way in the back. I haven't been back in 20+ years and it was our kids' first time. We had a great time hiking a few trails. The air quality wasn't great, but it wasn't too bad either. We also got to see a couple of bears (from far away), and one even climbed up a tree! We were surprised at how fast and easy it did it.19 points

Took in two rescues today. Think they are just two weeks or so. I think I have a family for them already, will have to get them off the bottle first. I have been fostering 10 years now but stopped once covid hit. Nice to be back at it.19 points

Someone posted on Nextdoor that they were moving and put a bunch of stuff in their driveway for garbage/donation. They said feel free to come by and take whatever. One of the pics had two skateboards in it, and I wanted to get them for my kids. Got there 25 mins after the post and as I pulled up, I saw some lady grabbing pretty much everything and putting it next to her car. All the stuff wouldn't even fit in her Jetta, but she was selfish about it. Anyways, I saw the skateboards in her car and was bummed out. I decided to look anyway and lucked out on a box of Lego that was sitting under anot18 points

Most people aren't aware the 2 months ago I had a pretty serious stroke. Im only 45 and in good shape. Ends up I had a 13mm hole in my heart so it was only a matter of time. So since I have 6months off of work and with all the crazy stuff going on in the world I figured it was good therapy to get back to building. So this is the first think I have built. Turned out ok. Will be starting on Dr.Stranges house tomorrow.18 points

Bought a pinball machine today, Williams Space Shuttle (1984). It was during the rain but I tarped it as best I could for the 1.5 hour ride home. Got home and had to label and disconnect about 12 cables and remove the backbox in order to get this thing to the basement but we're rockin' and rollin' now!17 points

Got a rare one, new & sealed 4478 in the blue box, none listed anywhere, just one sold through BrickLink in October for ~550€/~$660. Black box is quite common, this one isn't apparently. Literally no sealed blue boxes.17 points

SO to answer the question - Yes you can sell $10,000 in Lego from a garage in a weekend 🙂 The final total is $10,438 in sales for a profit of $4496.91 on 190 Lego sets sold. I will post a list of sets and prices at some point but I wanted to update the thread. Yes- I am shocked- I have gotten close to 5,000 before and been happy. I am in utter shock - I am going to have dinner.17 points

Wife played bumper cars earlier in the year (main damage in the lower left hand corner of pic 1) and finally had some time to complete the repair. The lowest price a body shop offered me was $1250 for the bumper and upper and lower grill. I got all the parts online, including a color matched bumper for a grand total of $275.17 points

So this was my project for the week. I wanted to turn the Hidden Side Shrimp Shack into a MOD. It's not as polished as many that I see but I worked with the pieces I had on hand. I only had two of those brown arches so I just used white till I find some. So if any of you guys have some in your store please send the link.17 points

I check the prices a couple times a year. If a set is flat, I dump it after a year. Maybe it'll go up, but maybe it will be the next Birds, Exosuit, Women of NASA, etc... just taking up shelf space. If it climbed, but has since leveled off, also a good time to sell. Super Star Destroyer, Grand Emporium, etc... would be a good examples (ignoring what they did this past year). If it took off like a rocket with irrational exuberance, might want to pull the trigger quick -- I'm looking at you, Seacow. Everything else, is up to your cash flow needs.
