New house has a pretty substantial office space that is dedicated to my built displays, etc. But what I don't have currently is a table to actually build on... Anyone have any pictures of what they use or any cool ideas?

Between my own sorting of parts and something said on New Elementary, I wonder how people feel about the number of colors available in Lego bricks if there is too many or just enough. I believe there is at least over 20 different shades currently in use but I am not precisely sure. On one side, it can seem too many since a person needs to have a good amount of any one color for building something decent with continuity in color scheme otherwise the thing will look bizarre. Not many sets include a ton of a single color at once. If anything their selection is usually rather diverse therefore you are almost forced to either purchase a bunch of the same set and/or many diffe…

I'm tossing out a question. Lately I have been rebuilding sets to sell and have been finding that seeing the difference of the old Light Gray and the new Light Blueish Gray is hard in the light I have. In sunlight the difference is very apparent. But I do most my building at night. I know that incandescent lights are not ideal but I have an LED light and sometimes the difference is very hard to discern. The Dark Gray pieces stand out easily. So what lights do you have in your Lego rooms? Any other tricks for sorting the old and new? Thanks

I thought it might be helpful to get a thread going for indecisive people like me. I would be open to others listing their "dilemmas" as well in order to avoid multiple threads. I ordered the Grand Emporium, but as I somewhat expected the order was cancelled due to it being over sold. I had decided that I was going to spend about $150 on a set to build this month, but I am having trouble deciding what to go with. The investment potential is at the bottom of my list, I am more looking for an enjoyable build and something that will look good on display. My hope is to build a city for my son as time goes on. Here are my ideas so far: Fair Ground Mixer Pala…

So this is new to me but perhaps others have tried it since it has been out since February. I picked up the new Technic 42022 Hot Rod today and on the box is a link to download the free app from iTunes. Just google "Lego Building Instructions app" for the link. I am using the ipad air version and IMO it is amazing. I think this is the only set available as of now but I would recommend trying it just to see what is coming our way No more need for PDF this is 3D rendering with 360 degree views and not sure of the term but you can see where the part you are working on will go in the outline of the finished model. It has a few neat features to try out as well. Now the…

So I guess you could consider me an AFOL now. Haven't built Legos in forever until I got the itch a week ago and bought the Parisian Restaurant. Now I might be addicted lol. I wanna build my own modular to connect to it now, but I'm curious on what the best way to gather an assortment of Legos it. I know the Lego Stores in malls have assorted pieces, but am wondering, is their selection small and basic or is it pretty good? Will I be able to get most of what I need from their assortment there or will I have to order parts from online? Thanks for any advise!

Here is a question for the builders, what is your favorite part? It can range from something you find aesthetically pleasing or universally usable.

I was going to start this one at roughly the same time as the other about brainstorming ideas for a Halloween Town but became sidetracked. Moving along, how about we use this topic to come up with ideas for a custom Winter Village/Christmas Town for when ol' Hallows Eve is done? There is this holiday modified Cafe Corner by odysea11 if you haven't seen it for a start and the Winter Village sets are also good foundation beginners. Hmm.... I am actually at a bit of a loss here. I guess my mind is just more geared for Halloween with monsters, demons, costumes, candy, and.... stuff.

I downloaded LDD and I am trying to design my first MOC. I am just curious what scale you use. I would like the scale to match with mini figures and to seem realistic. What scale do you use? For example, how many studs = 1 foot long? How many rows of bricks = 1 foot high? Thanks in advance!

You may have heard of Pepa Quin before if you can recall the huge city of New New York from Futurama he did a year or so ago. Anyway, his next challenge was the city of Springfield from The Simpsons. via The Brick Fan

I am asking myself what the majority of AFOLs without kids do with a set when it is built? It's clear that there are sets meant to be played with, others rather meant to be displayed only and some qualify for both. What do you buy sets for? Which are the ones you play with (on your own), which do you only put up to display?

For those who build I was wondering. When building do you prefer building by instructions an "Emmet", or building without instructions "Master Builder"? I'm way more to the side of without. Just a big kid who never paid enough attention to every step. That and I still have way more fun building what ever from a pile of bricks. ***/f is the polar opposite, prefers building with instruction, and "having it right".

Just got my pirate ship ambush from walmart.com and when I opened it up there were no minifigures inside whatsoever. The box was minty and sealed, and all the bags were sealed but somehow this happened. Has this happened to anyone else and what did you do?

The season of scaring is not for another few months but I figure we could pool some ideas together on what would be cool to feature in a custom Halloween Town in the meantime and even continue afterwards for years to come. I think we all know the Monster Fighters sets are a given for this epic diorama so what I am really shooting for is more about unique build ideas or special scene setups over 'straight-from-the-box' designs. I should give gratitude to Alpinemaps for the inspiration from conversation in the "What did you build today?" thread. Alright here's an idea to start. Each Escape from Mirkwood Spiders set includes two of those spider sacks and a tree to hang th…

A random browse to their site led me to a couple of designs which for some reason where not featured across the main page. It was only by an odd chance I even found these to begin with hidden on the instructions for sale page. Anywho, check out these digital renders of their latest items for sale.
