General Buying & Selling

Overall discussion on the buying and selling of LEGO

  1. Started by stackables,

I sent a package to Iowa with tracking. I just looked up the tracking number to see the progress of the package. The package was sent to Texas first wtf! I have the printout of my receipt and it definitely shows the correct destination of Iowa (IA). Anybody have this happen before? I hope it gets to the correct destination. Probably should have added, I am in Michigan.

Hi there, i've been checking like sets in the days of avengers tower, first wave of jurassic world etc, in those days, and damn, those set have high resale value now. They is less seller on bricklink or other platform, less people who invest and it's profitable. Better then it was, still some turd of course, but in general, a 2 years old is really great. 2015 sets have done better than older one, (post 2012 maybe).,...

Today I went to the Lego Store! Spent 2 hours at the Pick a Brick Wall trying to fit pieces into cups. ;-) Scored a Large Pick a Brick and Small Pick a Brick cup for a total of $26 including tax. In it were over 1000 pieces which comes out to be $0.025 per piece!!! I need them to make the 10189 Taj Mahal through the method of Bricklinking. Learned from the Lego employee that they (the employees of Lego) are NOT allowed to buy Legos to sell them later on since Lego employees were buying all the sets (he said in particular the Green Grocer) once they heard that they wouldn't be getting any more shipments of it. Apparently Lego employees would buy all of them...then se…

Hi All, Been a lurker here for awhile, but signed up to participate as I have a question. I have a variety of sets that I've been selling online through the usual channels, Ebay, Amazon, etc., and read about West End Toys as an option to take everything off my hands and handle the sale and fulfillment directly, but I've heard some comments through the grapevine that the company has some issues. Not sure if these are financial problems, management problems or just bad communication as I wasn't given much in the way of specifics, but figured the community here is the best place to ask since I'm sure there are some West End Toys vendors here who have sold through them. …

  5. I finally bought it! This was my first and only "big" LEGO set as a child. Everything else was scrounged from a Happy Meal or hustled off some neighborhood kid for pennies on the dollar. My dad would only buy me Joe's, because they were the real American heroes. That flip lid means so much to me. I remember hanging out in the stores and that little plastic window gave me a glimpse into another world. LEGO made the best box art too. It actually represented what was in the box and provided the same excitement. Do you remember the Nintendo box art? Some of the best until you actually played the game. Man, what a let down lol! I'm interested to see others …

  6. This is more dedicated to those who buy sets for the purpose of parting out and reselling for profit. What sets do you feel bring in the best return? what is a typical return of parting out? 10%? 20%? im running out of capital and i do not want to sell off any of my retired sets yet but need to start making some money to get some more tower bridge and super star destroyer any suggestions is greatly appreciated

I sold a 4203. The buyer sent me a note asking about a "slice that runs halfway across the bottom flat side of the box". Having bought this a long time ago at WM on clearance and it being boxed since then I asked for a picture of the issue. He sent a picture showing this. In his own words he said " It's kinda hard to tell, but it doesn't look like it pierced through all the way to the inside of the box. Almost almost, but not quite. I think." Seeing the picture it seems someone may have used a blade to open up the Lego case to stock it originally. It does not look pierced. Having it in hand he should know if it is or isn't pierced. Anyway in my listings I always state... …

  9. Pretty simple. Target and Walmart will start clearancing some toys - which lego lines/sets do you think will be included? I am going with Hobbit, Lone Ranger, TMNT and a few of the older star wars and city sets. What do you think?

  10. With all this Summer clearancing talk amoung other sale events, I thought to place a poll up for members to help give everyone a general idea of what Lego discounts look like on average. Feel free to describe some of your typical bargain hunting experiences here if you wish. ^_^

The site seems to have vanished and they haven't updated any social media. Did Bricklink cease and desist take them down for good?

I've tried many times to open up bricklink today but it isn't letting me in and it says to try to reload it. Every other website is working and i reset my router. Is brickilnk working for anyone else?

Simple question ... I’ve been away for a couple weeks, and now cannot find the Lot Price Calculator feature anymore. Did I miss something?

  14. Started by Orodes,

Hey all I have been checking out BrickLink for a few days now and just can't seem to convince myself to actually buy anything as of yet, since I have never used it before. I was just wondering what does everyone on here think of the site, have you ever bought anything on there, new or old. Thanks everyone

So I recently placed two orders with amazon and walmart.com. Both have tracking that says that the packages were delivered but I never received anything. Do I have any recourse? The carrier on both instances was the USPS...just wondering if any other's had a similar experience and what the best way to get results is. Thanks!

Hi all, I wanted to ask you something. My father is going to move in with his girlfriend and found an old lego set of mine when I was a child, presumably from late '90s. My father thinks it is worth something, but I honestly have no idea. I put it online for sale, but I have honestly no idea what it's worth. My apologies if this in the wrong forum, if it is a stupid question, and I'm also sorry for my bad English. Thank you in advance! Kind Regards, Lily

  17. My son has 10 large bins of Legos to sell. He wants to sell them to collectors only. He wants them to go to a good home where he knows someone will appreciate the bricks and use them to build amazing things. He would prefer to sell to an adult Lego collector. He does not want to sell them to parents looking for large lots for kids (my son is 16). We've looked at eBay, but there is no way to politely say "collectors only." Does anyone have advice?

  18. Excuse my noobness on the subject. Chowren toys?

  19. Good morning, 1st time on this forum. I have a lot of my sons Lego (37 sets) unassembled, but all pieces included of various Ninjago, Lego Movie and City from 2012 - 2015. What is the best way for me to sell this? Thanks, Jon

  20. I bought this lot for 20$ at a Yard Sale and want to sell it on Ebay but I want to know what the most efficient way to sell them is. I roughly separated them by color but its not 100%. Should I separate the minifigs and sell them separately? Any help is appreciated. Thanks! Edit: There are definately more than 30 minifigures

I came across this listing on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/LEGO-8085-Star-Wars-Freeco-Speeder-New-Sealed-Free-US-Shipping-Set-Retired-/111019548247?_trksid=p2054897.l4275 It is a Star Wars Freeco Speeder 8085 for $10,000. The description does not indicate that it was made from unobtainium or anything like that, I am just curious what the purpose of listing this would be. I realize there is a sucker born every minute but you would have to be long lost uncle from Nigeria stupid to fall for this.

  22. This thing won't sell for even 100 euro under the Lego RRP. It is a retired set. People offering it new for 140 euro on BL. I have 3 of them, now priced at a loss for 195 euro. What is with this set that people don't want it?

  23. What is your answer when in the post office ask about what is in the box? Im a little curious about the answer you can give me!!! In my first sell i answer ( its a lego set) but i want to know if its fine to say that? What did you say? Sent from my iPhone using Brickpicker

  24. I recently posted a set on bricklink for $95 and it sold a couple days later. (cheapest on BL) The user is from Canada (I'm in the US) and send a message asking if they can pay by paypal and if I will send it as a gift...I responded and said yes you can definitely pay with paypal, but I would not send it as a gift as I'm selling it (I understand customs taxes probably aren't cheap in canada) However, the user has 0 feedback. I am looking up shipping rates to canada for this large set and it's around $38, and tracking is not available for this feature. The user created an account feb 23, so it's their first 2 weeks apparently. I dont know....should I go ahead and sel…

Starting up my store soon and need bags. What size does everyone recommend and where would be a good place to purchase them? I would be selling a variety of bricks and minifigures so probably need a variety of sizes. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
