General Buying & Selling

Overall discussion on the buying and selling of LEGO

  1. Hi,all , irecently starded selling lego on ebay but after some complete set now i have a lot of items of lego city advent calendars 2008/2009. Do you think someone may be intrested in a complete lot like for 40$? What title should i write? Thank you

  2. My son has 10 large bins of Legos to sell. He wants to sell them to collectors only. He wants them to go to a good home where he knows someone will appreciate the bricks and use them to build amazing things. He would prefer to sell to an adult Lego collector. He does not want to sell them to parents looking for large lots for kids (my son is 16). We've looked at eBay, but there is no way to politely say "collectors only." Does anyone have advice?

Here is an interesting quote from a website 5 years ago that I agree with very much and wonder what some of your thoughts are. Albeit some on here have such large collections and sell mostly misb so it takes some less time than parting out a set but for the most part arent we all limited by time and space and will find it hard to make millions selling lego. I do make a good living from reselling but do not see a bright future personnaly in Lego no retirement other than my toy stock no benefits and little time off and an ever challenging and ebay marketplace are just some of the difficulties we face... "As someone who actually does buy and sell Legos on eBay and Brickli…

  4. I had an auction last week on ebay. I shipped it with USPS priority with signature confirmation last Wed. Today is Thursday, the package is in status "sorting complete" and was supposed to be delivered on Sept 30. It did not show any attempt delivery. If the USPS lost my package, what do I do? I did not buy any insurance but it came with a $50 insurance. The auction was for about $200. Do I need to refund the buyer if USPS lost my package? I contacted USPS but I have not heard back from them yet. in the future, should I always ship it with insurance and signature confirmation when over a certain amount? Thanks.

  5. Mine was crushed in shipping. They put it diagonally in a huge box with no padding at all except in the bottom under the set. Top of the box was smashed in really bad (caved in) and the set itself had some wear and all the seals were broken from the air being pushed out of the set. I am going to build it anyway, so I am not too worried about it. Anyone else have problems? I was going to see if anyone went to customer service about it.

  6. Would be nice if it did. And have an app to go with it just like EBay. Wish someone would come up with a LEGO-Bay. A site specific for LEGO sellers where we can purchase or set for auction with 5% or less fee instead of EBay 10%.

  7. Is it best to buy bulk mailers and put two stamps on each? Any tips are appreciated.

Hi folks, I need some help. Basically I sold some stuff over ebay and now couple of the buyers come back to me and tell me that the shipping cost shows up $9 something in the product detail page, but after they won the bid and check out, the shipping cost from the final checkout shows $10 something. I just checked other recent transactions, it seems like other buyers may have this issue also. I selected Automatic Calculate and FedEx Economy option when create listing. Does anyone know why the shipping cost in product detail page is different than the checkout page? Is it something configurable in listing page? I tried to contact ebay but I only see the C…

  10. I saw a thread recently where Toywiz.com is buying Lego for resale. I logged in to my account and to my surprise, some of their prices are pretty good and considerably higher than the prices of items I picked up on clearance. If you need to offload some items quickly and don't want to hassle with EBay and PayPal fees, this may be a decent option. http://www.toywiz.com/toywizbuying.html Quick screenshot of a few items:

  11. Hi all, I have a few sets that I am considering to sell in the next days, but a couple of them I am considering seriously given my purchase price. I have the 8070 Sports Car for 67

Just a heads up for people who have access to Costco--might be good to check their toy aisles for Legos. Saw a few in there yesterday--Olivia's House (Friends line) for $59.99 and a few other little things.

  14. I am shipping an architecture set. Although it is quite heavy, the box is about 12 by 15 inches. I know that UPS seems to be cheaper on an oversize box , but how about where the box isn't huge, just heavy. any ideas which shipper is cheaper? Who appears to be cheaper on heavy items. Thanx for any info

A buyer from New Zealand contacted me today asking if I would ship to New Zealand. The buyer has 0 feedback and has been registered on eBay since 2010. My question is should I sell it to him? What would you do?

I have a fellow investor that has had a bit of a hard time and needs to unload his collection. Is CL the best place. Ebay is no go because he needs the money soon. i am buying a bit from him today. He said he would return it all to the stores but is thre a place here where he can offer it up? He is doing cost on all of the pieces. Not trying to peddle wares, just asking.

  17. Do you guys ever know you have something, but when you look for it you can't find it? I know pretty much everyone has experienced this. I'm starting to sift through inventory for listing stuff this holiday season. I've went through what I thought was my entire inventory 3 times and I can't find a Ninjago Destiny's Bounty that I know I have somewhere. I've searched for it for over 2 hours and my searching has pretty much negated any profit that I'll ever see even if I do find it. I have a bad habit of putting stuff in boxes and totes and I have to open all of them when searching. Oh well, it will be a nice surprise maybe someday in the future.

  18. I recently bought a lot that included almost all of the parts for a set still sealed in the original bags. I would like to find a source for the other bags of parts so that I can package them together as a "new" set, but am not sure how to find someone selling in this manner. I am sure that people part the set out for sale on BrickLink, but I am not sure how to interrupt them in the process of parting out the set in order to get the full bags. Anyone have thoughts on methods to do this?

  19. I was going to see if anyone else had this problem and if it bothers them: New bigger sets normally come with a piece of cardboard and the instruction booklet inside a package - book doesn't get bent up. However, in smaller sets, they just toss the booklet and sticker sheet right down in there. I have had a lot of problems witht hem being bent so bad they wont stay open, the stickers coming off the sheet, pages torn, etc. Does this bother anyone else? Lego needs to find a way to keep this from happening.

After reading the comments on the purchase thread about the steals at Shopko, and finding myself in a town tonight with a store, I went to check it out. And I had my dad in tow for the senior discount. I could already taste the cash. Uruk Hai Army, $50. Hulk's heli -- wait, what? Uruk ..... Hai .... Army ..... $ .... 5.....0. Then I started noticing other sets priced accordingly. I cursed a few times and stomped out. I also said something like "more criminal than tru".

I was at TRU yesterday picking up a few polybags. I am always in there checking stuff on my rounds so they know me quite well. I was informed that word had come from corporate stating that they now have a purchase limit of 10 of any one item. She (the manager) advised me it had something to do with resellers. Not there is ever a real opportunity to buy 10 of ANYTHING there, but I am wondering if this ultimately came directly from LEGO.

  22. Hi there! I'm new here after stumbling across the site while researching my treasures I recently dragged all our old Lego out of the garage. It was originally kept for my son but to be honest he prefers breaking it all up and building elaborate models of his own, for which he has a large bin of odds and ends so the whole lot is destined to go. I have many sets from the 80s as well as a few from the late 70s and early 90s. All of them are unboxed but have the original instructions and are in excellent condition. I have a few questions as to the best way to sell these sets and would appreciate any advice you could give. So... 1) Is it vital that the sets are 10…

  23. A buyer left this feedback: Toys is new, but some box have bug. I don't know what kind of bug and why there was bug. or if there is bug at all. The toys are brand new sealed. I am a small ebay seller (with around 150 positive feedback). Even though this person gives me a positive feedback, but a negative comment. I am afraid it will affect future buyers to buy from me. What can I do about it?

Hi there, I am looking for Lego resellers in US particularly tax free state (you lucky peeps). -I buy Legos in bulk particularly exclusive sets to ship to my country. -I will arrange courier to pickup so all you need to do is get the Lego sets on request, fill some form and package it nicely. -I make full payment before shipping so no worries on your side (although mutual trust will need to be established for first contact) If you are interested, please PM me for further discussion. Thanks.

I scored a great deal on almost the entire run of the lego viking theme on ebay but a couple of the sets are missing some pieces. Of cousre I plan on bricklinking the missing pieces. This gets me to my big pet peeve about most bricklink stores. It seems most stores charge an "additional materials and handling fee". I can stomach maybe 50 cents but shouldn't getting the parts and shipping them be part of doing business on bricklink? You can get padded evenlopes on bulk for less than 10 cents a piece. I see stores who charge an additional $1.50 and fees. That seems like a lot to me. I can understand stores don't like to handle small orders, then just have a minimum or…
