Bear with me here. The last few weeks, I've been learning about the buying and selling of bourbon, mostly online for the selling, in private facebook groups. It's basically gambling. I've been wondering about doing this for Lego. What they do is the owner of a bottle posts it for sale, say Sunday morning. Ten different people buy a number, 0 through 9, for a stated price. Each buyer of a number sends money to the seller via Paypal or Venmo. Then that evenings Illinois Lottery Fireball number is the winner. The seller and winner exchange address, and the seller pays for shipping. So the buyers take a 1 in 10 shot they'll get the bottle(s) for 10% of it's v…

Hi all, I couldn't find a thread along these lines, so thought it would be worth starting a discussion. Have many of you run pop-up shops before? I've run a number at local LEGO shows/toy shows, and figured there may be a lot we can learn from each others experiences. I've gradually grown my main popup over 5 years, now running a ~8m frontage and two registers. We typically have 3 staff to run the space, and use Vend as our POS as it's fairly easy to upload by excel stock files and manage payments etc. I actually didn't manage to get any photos of my last big show, but here's some from a small show we did earlier last year and the year before. I've see…

I am new to selling lego from Canada and was wonder how other Canadian Brickpickers do it. For things like polybags i'm using the bubble wrap envelopes and canada post. It's larger items that I worry about. Who do you use to ship larger items? How do you package the product? Where do you source the boxes? Thanks for any and all help.

Next week I'll be visiting my sister in Denver. My dad mentioned that there is a Lego kiosk at the Cherry Creek mall. He said they have some discontinued sets, but that the prices were high. I haven't been there yet myself to check it out. Has anyone seen this kiosk? Do they have anything worth looking at?

So my story begins upon leaving the movie theatre after viewing The Desolation of Smaug. With nothing scheduled for the afternoon, I decided to take a quick peek in the nearby Wal-Mart to see if there was anything of note within their clearance section. This particular Wal-Mart is one of the older, less desirable ones, small and disorganized that I had frequented only once before. If I had any expectations, they would have been extremely low. So into the store I go, heading straight for the clearance banner hanging by the garden section of the store. As I walk down the aisle, my heart skips a beat when I gazed upon a new, undamaged 4840, The Burrow. I couldn

I found this post by Brickpicker member, John Crumpton, to be very helpful to me and I would like to make more people aware of it. I often find myself reading assorted LEGO blogs and forums and as an American, I often am not familiar with various stores that sell LEGO bricks in the UK and other European countries. I am trying to educate myself on the differences between American stores and various UK and European stores and appreciated the effort John put into his reply. The thread might also be helpful to other Brits who are not familiar with all of the following stores. Thanks John. To other members, please feel free to add some other stores from the UK or other…

So, it finally happened to me. USPS destroyed a shipment of mine and then delivered it anyway. Buyer contacted me and wants to return or something, but I have a few questions. It was a 42000 that I sold for $200 on ebay and sent Priority. The shipping box and the set box are smashed all to hell. The set appears intact and complete however. The buyers states it is for a collector though. So I offered a return and full refund or a partial refund (amount not specified). 1. Is USPS supposed to deliver a box they clearly destroyed? Thought that was odd. 2. So if I file a claim with USPS, they will want to see the damaged box. Does the buyer need to take that in or …

Now I would not call myself a LEGO investor, I am just looking to sell my large collection of LEGO sets ( around 135 sets) and make some profit. I have a large amount of Indiana Jones sets including some of the bigger ones like Temple of Doom, The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Temple Escape and am looking for advice to see if it would be better to sell them now or if they are likely to grow on the market. I would really appreciate this.......Thanks.

Just a heads up... There is a store called Tuesday Morning which is basically a buy-out store. I popped into one today and saw a few Lego sets. Nothing I wanted (Minotaurus game, mining truck, and another game), but, if you are ever near one of these stores, it might not be a bad idea to see if they have anything you might be interested in.

I went to my paypal site and was greeted by "You've reached a limit for how much you can send, receive or transfer. See how to lift your limits". I have never seen this before and I barely sell anything. I basically use paypal for payments linked to my credit card. I don't trust paypal with any bank account. So in order to use paypal, I have to link them to one of my accounts? Does anyone know what exactly is this "limit" I reached? Did I print too many labels for $2?

I found another site selling Legos that sent the BS meter pegging... HomBZ.com They have the Maersk train for $87 (as well as Diagon Alleyand The Pet Shop for $99 each). So I thought "hmmmmm, let's see..." Put the order in then they direct you to paypal for payment. OK....so I see if the vendor is 'verified' but can't find anywhere on paypal where that info is. No way will I send money unless they are verified. The website has a phone number so I call ((951) 200-4263?) I get a recorded message...no one there, blah blah blah...leave a message. BS meter pegging even more. I look at the "invoice" the sent me via email Here's the address they ship from…

Hi there, I have a large (19 inch tall) Lego figure that I wish to sell. As far as I am aware they have never been sold, they are only acquired as a retailer stocking lego - they are used for store merchandising. Any idea how rare this is and how much it would be worth? Thanks

I just saw this on brickset.com and it seems pretty straight forward. Trade4cash will buy your new or used lego by the pound or piece. So it stands to reason that if you've bought some sets that wont return much via ebay or bricklink you could sell them here by the lb. Take for instance the recent "free" galaxy squad sets at TRU. The space swarmer was available for about $4 and weighs approximately .64 lbs. Short of bricklinking these sets it's not likely to return much. The current payout is $10.50 per lb, and brickset readers get an additional 10% by using promo code BRICKSET at checkout. They also state that they'll pay $6.00 a lb for "good" quality pieces, whic…

Well the time has come to sell my grand collection of classic space sets and some castle. Sets range from 1979-1992. Close to all sets have the boxes and instructions and are complete. Lightly played during that time and has been boxed up for 20+ years. These sets meant the world to me and as any brick collector knows, very difficult to part with, especially my Blacktron sets I have been putting them on this sites estimator, and have been impressed with values these sets have established for themselves. I am going through all the sets to verify that all their parts are there, so far all complete. So far i have come across duplicate sets with out boxes, …

Hi, I am new to selling lego. I am planning to sell some of my lego star wars collection on ebay but I need advice. For example, do you ship the set disassembled? If disassembled, do you sort the pieces or is it just a giant pile of bricks? Could you please help me.

So i was walking around Meijer yesterday and on the shelf were these two retired sets on the shelf. they did not have a tag or anything, they were just sitting there. I know these were not there the week prior so they must have been hidden in the stockroom or something. Any anyone experienced this before?

Hey Guys. Can't find an existing topic on this but I think this is a good question (especially for me) and given the number of new investors coming in definitely something they need to think about. Having paper profits from sets stashed in your cupboard does not necessarily mean your going to end up with real profits once you've sold out. I mean buying is the fun part and so should be selling. R5, Tumbler, DS... great! Your profits on paper look excellent, but how do you actually go about shipping these??? SC (sand crawler) I LOVE it as a set and think it will do great post retirement (plenty of reasons but that's for a diff thread). Just using this one as a…

Had a question about selling my complete set of Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series. I am not a collector, rather just have enjoyed following lego collecting on line. This interest led to me starting to purchase only NEW Star Wars UCS sets over the years and hanging on to them given my love of star wars and lego - not even sure why! I thought these might be fun for my son and I to build or it was a really fun way to force some savings. I am now ready to sell them all and I am trying to figure out how. Each set is bubble wrapped and boxed in a separate cardboard box - was trying to avoid selling individually given the time to take pics, list, and ship numerous times!!…
