General Buying & Selling

Overall discussion on the buying and selling of LEGO

  1. Started by jgschmieg3,

Check out this eBay listing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lego-Lot-Variety-/281244592605?pt=Building_Toys_US&hash=item417b7be9dd So I contacted the seller to clarify if the sets included in the pictures are included because they do not match what is in the pictures. Their response was the pictures do not match the list and then quoted be $1000 extra if the Haunted House was included. LOL! Check out some of the prices they put on the sets too!

Hey guys. So tomorrow (5/20/13) I'll be making my first major Lego run. I live in NJ and close to NYC so the stores around me do not have any crazy clearance sales ever. The county I live in however has Blue Laws in effect, which means stores are not open on Sundays. This is nice because the circulars and sales are posted on Sundays but nobody can shop until Monday. It gives me time to really check for good sales. Anyway, I've got between $500 and $700 to spend. I'll be trying to get some MF sets as well as some LOTR sets. Many of the stores have discounted SW sets (A-wing being the most prominent; 28% off) this week. Should I pick up some SW sets like this? Also, wha…

Went to the Lego Store today. Here's a few pics. Most everything in stock, including Death Star, Ewok Village, Slave 1, and Tower Bridge. They had all JW sets except Raptor Escape and Indom. Rex. They also didn't have TOO and the Lego guy said they won't see that one again. No series 14 minifigs; he said those disappear in 2 days or less. Picked up 5 Trick or Treats. Seal on TRex Tracker was 30R5, on Raptor Rampage was 34R5.

As many of you know there were some great deals last Thursday aka "Epic Thursday" on both Amazon and Walmart online. Well the first part of my order from Walmart online came in this morning (an SSD) so I went to my local Walmart to pick it up, and I saw exactly what I didn't want to see, an SSD box with creases and one broken seal. I literally picked it up from the online order counter and walked straight over to customer service and returned it. When I got over to the customer service counter there was a guy in front of me returning 2 SSD's for the same resason (boxes in horrible shape). Also it didn't with the outer cardboard Lego box, shouldn't it come in this box?…

Will placing two orders for the same item two days in a row get you banned or anything? I just want to get two promotional items.

Anyone else finding their local TRU has been ravaged over Xmas, and there's very little good stuff to spend the £20 gift cards we were given before Xmas on? My local store has probably less than 25% of the sets on the shelves it would usually have at any time of year, and there's a lot of City, Chima, Ninjago, and Scooby Doo sets nobody wants (i.e. not the good ones). Vouchers expire on 16th of Jan, I think. Torn between buying the best of what they have now (not even sure what that would be!), and holding on for a week or so. Don't want to find that after that week, there's even less stock left! Anyone any idea on what the TRU restock pattern m…

Anyone know of a good place that sells replica stickers for lego sets? I got a couple sets that are missing stickers and would like to pick some up to complete my sets.

  11. I was going to see if anyone else had this problem and if it bothers them: New bigger sets normally come with a piece of cardboard and the instruction booklet inside a package - book doesn't get bent up. However, in smaller sets, they just toss the booklet and sticker sheet right down in there. I have had a lot of problems witht hem being bent so bad they wont stay open, the stickers coming off the sheet, pages torn, etc. Does this bother anyone else? Lego needs to find a way to keep this from happening.

$200 for a 20lbs lot. Has 3 large grey base plates as well, Briefly went through the lot and seen about 30 mini-figs. Didn't have any boxes or much manuals. OK I think I've overpaid for this, but at the time i thought it was a good deal and besides the kid wanted to sell his Lego to buy an Xbox. Will post some pics once I get it sorted somewhat.

Hi, I am hoping someone may lead me to the right direction on where I can find clamshell packaging like the Build A Minifigure at the Lego store. Prefer to have slots for 5 figures if possible. If anyone have any idea where I can get them that would be greatly appreciated!

  16. This has been nagging at me for a while and as Huskers mentioned in a post it should be started in it's own thread if the topic is going to be drawn out. If I owned a store and a customer was taking an item off the shelf and hiding it in the store so I wouldn't charge as much for it later I would consider that customer to intentionally trying to devalue a product I am trying to maximize profit on and essentially stealing from me. Would you find that customers behavior acceptable if it was your store? There are some people that would justify their actions and say that large retailers can afford to take the loss and it's a game to them. I don't see it tha…

I'm looking for some help from you Pickers who have had to file a lost package claim. I've had a shipment drop off of tracking, my local post office isn't much help, and I'll probably be filing a claim in a couple of days. (This is my first time dealing with this.) My buyer has been very patient so far, and I would like to keep them happy so they don't hit me with a neg. At the same time, I'm assuming it could take a while to get the insurance money back for the lost package. I guess what I'm asking is : At what point in this process am I "Safe" to refund the customers money? I don't want to refund the money, the package comes back …

It appears that sellers are getting scammed lately by buyers who use hotels as their shipping address claiming the package was not received by the front desk and requesting replacements/refunds/opening AZ cases that sellers are bound to lose. if you have an amazon seller account you should be able to access the link below, if you dont you MAY be able to get it as well: https://sellercentral.amazon.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=225779&ref_=im_sf_C_225779_wsfqs_home&sortBy=helpful it starts with the following: Posted on: 16 Oct, 2014 11:10 PM …

So Galarco has been mentioned on here before, their Amazon inventory is insane, does anyone know anything about them? Do they have a real store? Their are basically on a Quidsi level in terms of many of their product stock levels. I remember they had a crazy amount of SW advent calendars. They have 320 Millennium falcons on FBA among other things. Seeing as the FBA oversize limit is 500 items, I imagine they have some sort of relationship with Amazon. 320 millennium falcons isn't easy for an individual to come across, Just wondering if they are affiliated with a bigger company.

  21. I've recently been granted my sales tax certificate for resale so that I can purchase items without paying sales tax. I've found that there are some stores that this is a great savings and/or avoidance of headaches, but not all stores accept it. Here's the list that I currently have of stores that have accepted my tax certificate: Walmart Amazon Best Buy Here's the list that I've tried and they just give me funny looks (they're used to seeing educational/non-profit tax exempt forms, but not resale) Toys R Us Target Barnes & Noble KMart Does anyone else have experience with this that could add to the list or make s…

  22. Started by SOBEBELLA,

I see tons of postings on here of people driving around to Walmarts, Targets, Kmarts, Fry's, etc etc to save 10% or 20% off advertised price which is sometimes inflated. Why do people do this? You can easily get better deals online from the comforts of your home and you can buy massive quantities versus the limited supply on the shelves at the stores. Am I missing something? Also, any serious reseller with a fair amount of cash, why not just reachout to the fulfillment centers at Amazon and negotiate a better price if you buy 100x a month, or whatever it may be. I did this out of Avondale, AZ on the 60051, I purchased 100 on June 11th, it took several phone calls from Ken…

  23. I am trying to neaten up some of my mountains of paperwork, and want to get your two cents - I've been keeping my received packing lists/invoices since I've been doing this, but really don't have much use for them if I don't need to return anything. Do you guys keep these? If so, other than for return duration/verification purposes, how long do some of you keep packing slips/shipping invoices? Do you keep them in addition to e-receipts/receipts? Or one of the other? Thanks!

Wondering if anyone has used these before. http://www.amazon.com/Scotch-7907-2BP-Packing-Noodles/dp/B000GLS29E Conventional peanuts worked out well for me for packing items before the holidays. I've just about used up my stash and am looking at these as well as bubble wrap. The good thing about these noodles is they come in a brick form (now i've got your attention) as opposed to regular peanuts which have to be bagged up etc. FYI: For bubble wrap I haven't found anything cheaper than Sams Club. (which comes out to $.06/LF for a 12" wide roll) in store price.

  25. So I was wondering how everyone is taking care of this - Its one of the few things I haven't really developed a "system" for. Do most of you just calculate your taxes at the end of the year and just pay it? Do you take a certain amount out of each of your sales to stow away? I was thinking about just withdrawing 30% each time I withdraw from Paypal to a Savings account so I make sure I have money on hand. I was curious if others do it this way - or do you do more? Less? Obviously its tough to know exactly what you will pay unless you are putting it straight into a tax calc - which maybe thats what people do?
