  4. Apologies if this has already been posted, but I haven't seen it on BP. There's an offer on Amazon for $25 off a $50 purchase of any item sold and shipped by Amazon if you use any amount of Amex Membership Rewards (MR) to pay for the order. You have to have your MR account linked to Amazon to be able to pay with points. Once you add the item to your cart, go to the payment options, click on your Amex card with the MR points and enter the number of points you want to use. I used 1 MR point which = $0.01. I used my Amex card to pay for the rest of the order. Once you apply the MR point(s), then enter the promo code AMEX17EVER. I bought a $50 Staples gift card that I needed for $24.99 and 1 MR point. I've seen some comments that this may be targeted, so YMMV, but it definitely worked for me. I took advantage of a similar offer at the beginning of the year at the same time that Amazon ran BOGO on a bunch of Star Wars sets, and I was able to get it to work again this time.

  12. Don't worry. I read somewhere lego is worth more than gold. If this goes south I'll just open all the boxes and melt the lego into lego bricks. Sell them on the yellow market and make a killing....

  13. I've recently expanded my local platforms by listing a bunch of items on Letgo and Offerup. In addition to Craigslist I've got a pretty good share of my local market for brand new / retired sets. The only listings in my area for Lego other than mine are usually for duplo or knock off crap, so when people see the good stuff at a decent price it generates some interest. Yes, you will get the occasional lowballer, but just stay firm, be polite, and educate them a little bit on the going rate and they will see that your price is actually a good deal. I've also developed quite a few regular local customers who have made several purchases from me, which also spreads the word. The Letgo and OfferUp apps are quite easy to use and navigate, and they also will post directly to Facebook so you can get even more eyes on your items. Local sales are the best because it's cash with no fees. It just takes a little time to get the word out. Good luck.

  15. Basically this question has been asked at least 20 times before with hopes of people sending PMs to try and sell their stock. You already have a FREE. Let me say that again FREE site called Brick Classifieds. You are already saving 10+ % on your commission fees. Take off that 10% savings of your items and spend a day or two or five and load up the site and make deals with people. If you limit it to a big bulk sale, you are cutting your changes to a very small portion. Very few people are giong to have 10/20/30+ thousand to offer depending on what you have. A while back someone sold like 19k worth of lego in like 2 weeks. Saved thousands on commissions. Just be ready to made a deal that works for you and it will go. Take advantage of Brick Classifieds now. It is moving and it may not be FREE much longer.

  20. I guess giving the theme a bit more time is the right move. In 4 years (2021) Lord of the Rings will make it's 20th anniversary. Return of the King is the most decorated movie in terms of number of Oscars won.

  25. @njsealeJust my two bits... I recently got a craigslist offer for about $15,000 on most of my inventory. At that pricing, the buyer could have flipped it all for about 10% "instant" profit (....well, maybe in a month or two, depending on his selling platforms). We went 'round and 'round with details etc, until it became clear he could only pay via Paypal. Of course, Paypal doesn't cover that with buyer / seller protection. A Paypal rep told me that it is possible for a dishonest person with a Paypal account funded by Amex to make that kind of purchase, then call Amex the next day and say the purchase was unauthorized, merchandise didn't arrive, was fake, etc, and get the money clawed back. Now you might win that in a fight but... who wants to fight? Basically, the only way to do that kind of sale is with cashiers check (that you witnessed being written) or cash. In the end, we had no deal. I'm guessing that a real "whale" (one who actual has $15,000 to spend) would probably want to give me more of a haircut the joker I was talking to. Maybe 20% off? So anyway... with renewed selling attitude I went back to eBay (reading some of the selling on Amazon thread, you'll find that Amazon is not the place to be selling high dollar sets right now). On eBay, I've found you can move product pretty quickly at a fair price. I also love BrickClassifieds and am "double-listing" some items there at better discounts. My point is, like you, I was hoping to move all this stuff without the work. And I was willing to lose $1500... (maybe $2000?) to do it that way. But now I'm finding that... willing to take the going rate or a little bit less... I can move 10 or 20 sets a week. And at this rate, I should be able to move it all by the end of the year. Yeah it's a little work, but now the cash is rolling in, it feels great.

  27. Been looking to build a UCS AT-AT for awhile but Moc's have been too expensive with their rare parts, until the one Raskolnikov built. It's a great looking model. I have changed a few pieces and will be getting some 2x2 round tiles to put in a few places. Sorry for poor phone photo.

  28. I don't know about the comics last the early 90s either, but in the Toby movie trilogy he's a returning villain that actually plays a significant role in the maturation of Spider-Man. You end up feeling sorry for the guy. I think he helped with a robbery because he couldn't afford the cancer treatments for his daughter. Then he accidentally got transformed into the sandman. Daughter's still sick, he's a wanted freak, so he starts robbing armored cars. Not out of greed, but to pay for the treatments because the insurance companies won't cover her because she's sick and the hospitals wong take her because she's not insured. The whole point of course is to make you wonder, who's really the bad guy?

  32. Sitting in last night with my mate, having a few Beers and he asks; "have you been up where they were filming lately?" And proceeds to show me photos of a pretty big water feature dug out in what I can only describe as being in the shape (basic mind you) of the Jedi Symbol and what looks like a walkway/causeway jutting into it. I'll see if I can get some photos of my own next weekend maybe

  34. ^ I'd agree with a lot of this advice in particular (though it's all very good) I started selling used parts from bulk lots a couple of years ago. Although there can be a LOT of time spent on cleaning, sorting, researching and listing, there is a visceral thrill for me of digging through a bulk bin off Craigslist and finding those few rare pieces that can (sometimes) pay back on the whole lot. That, and having some inexpensive bulk used items (or rare items) in my inventory keeps things diverse and get people shopping. Now, due to some personal / family things, I don't have the space at the moment to do all the work for cleaning & sorting the used lots. So I have been dabbling in parting out sets to help diversify my inventory. I still get to satisfy my OCD by sorting and organizing LEGO, and it keeps my offerings fresh. Dealing with new parts has a LOT of benefits that have been mentioned already. So if I could say the one "drawback" of dealing with new sets / parts is that you really have a more straightforward understanding upfront on what the costs and profits should look like. Aside from finding good buying deals, you loose that "treasure hunt" and "goldmine" effect that used bulk lots can provide. That's a fun aspect of this hobby for me. From a business perspective, you can build formulas and strategies around dealing with new sets / parts. And the good thing is that as mentioned above, there are still a lot of niche ways to do things. Just my two-cents.

It's showing up on TRU's website: http://www.toysrus.com/search/index.jsp?s=A-UnitRank&kw=90867feb17&keywords=90867feb17&origkw=90867feb17&sr=1&ppg=96 If it isn't showing up in store, you can have them do a PM to their site. With no active coupons, other sales, or TRUTH happening, it shouldn't be a problem.
