  3. I've got the U-Wing via WM clearance a while ago. This set was not on my radar, and I did not expect much, but the price was right. Now, it is one of my favorites. The color scheme is esthetic; the compartment fits many people; the cockpit-opening mechanism is working; the shooting mechanism is very well developed; it has a trunk for spare parts storage; minifigs look great; and the slender design makes it a very nice display model that doesn't take the space of a 16'' pizza such as the Millennium Falcon. Thanks to the suggestion of @exciter1 it even makes a great toilet model. Not sure about its investment potential, but for me as a collector it is a great set.

  4. I've been reading about this Dimensions bonanza for a while now. I finally made a trip to the 99c store 2 miles from me and found some. If anyone in the east coast still needs some let me know and I'd be happy to send them to you. I'm not sure how much people are paying for them, but I'll send them at cost and anything you're willing to pay above cost you can donate to Ed Mack's school, if donations are still accepted. Just an idea.

  9. I guess there's no real point in trying to discuss if a set is a good or bad investment anymore. If you say its a bad investment people just say "I bought this for 50% off so I'll still make money", if you say it's a good investment people say "it won't be anywhere like set xxxx". Everyone has their own interpretation of what is a good profit margin. £10 profit is nothing for Mr A while for Mr B it is an amazing ROI. I don't think anymore constructive info will come out of retired set threads, apart from periodic updates on how the set is performing.

  17. Old Fishing Store - Modular Building The Story The story for this modular building was that the Old Fishing Store is based upon the Christmas sets that are available. I liked the Christmas sets so I built this one on Lego Digital Designer (LDD). I really believe that this model could have a lot of genuine interest to fans of Christmas sets. This is the first of a series of modular buildings that I will be making. Summary The building consists of roughly 2160 parts and three floors: the main store, office, and lookout. I used the colors brown and sand green that gives it a realistic feeling. Three Mini-figures could be added such as a fisherman, the store keeper, one captain. And a lot of details. Production Process of the Old Fishing Store LEGO designer, Adam, is putting the last touches on the beautifully crafted Old Fishing Store before finalising the design. It's a fitting place for anyone looking to stock up on gear for their next big fishing trip! Launch: Expected Fall 2017 Thank you for continuing to be engaging and supportive fans of LEGO Ideas. It truly drives us to look forward to next year. Exprected Price for this set: ~100$/150$ Project: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/124448 Brickset: http://brickset.com/sets/21309-1 Final Look:

  19. I was afraid to click on this thread thought it was going to be more posts on how this set is poop. You probably already bought it but nothing that will be too hard to replace other then Queasy Kitty some of the parts that make up metalbeard. Also the large grey turbines and smoke stack pieces. So many tiny pieces in this detailed set. I would check the captains cabin and make sure all the "play" parts are there.

  20. So I have a LEGO item on eBay at $11.99 (buy it now or best offer). Someone sent me a first offer of $11.98. I obviously accepted but have reservations because no other than a fruitcake would make such an offer.

  21. Sales are still strong on Ebay for this one and once the cheaper UK sellers run out of stock, it should start appreciating nicely. I can see it following the Delorean´s growth curve.

  33. We just got back a little bit ago. I thought it dragged a little during the 2nd half and something else about the 2nd half I didn't like as well, but I'll hold that in for now. The first half was pretty great and very funny. I want an Orphanage Batman Fan Club Battle Pack and some of those Batman emblem t-shirt torsos.

  34. There are alot of great people on BP who give great advice on what are good sets / latest deals / what set to avoid etc. But noone is just going to handout their golden goose items that they most likely spent countless hours researching / trial and error / learning the hard way etc. This is not them being rude, but they worked hard to get to where they are. Would you give up your hard earned business secrets which would kill your livelihood? If you do want to get rich quick... I hear some Nigerian Princes can help you out if you send them some dollars to help their long lost cousin.

  40. General perception. Ebay started as a garage sale and added retailers and credibility, but many still view it as a used item site. Amazon started as a new product retailer and added 3P sellers while maintaining a HIGH level of quality control. Also, Amazon has listings that are streamlined like a retailer leaving a consumer without many options (studies have proven people buy more with less choices), while an Ebay search without narrow parameters yields a lot of things that must be individually examined and takes a lot more work/time. The list continues, but these are the basics as I perceive them.

  41. Just took the kids. They loved it. I thought it was okay. It wasn't outstanding, but it wasn't bad. My favorite part was Batman's password. And all the different minifigure combos! Oh man, I want the entire Justice League. And the different costumes many of the other characters wore.

  42. What do you mean by long run? Most retail products don't appreciate over time like Lego and other limited run items. If you mean good short term flip material then almost everything beats Lego. Difference is you have to source and sell it continually to make money whereas with Lego you just sit on it and sell much less frequently. Lego is much more passive than regular household items which means far better hourly pay. Walk into any chain store in the country and you will find lots of household items with great ranks that make 30% ROI within a month. Do some research on getting discounts to buy online and you will find 100-300% ROI within a month. We do 10% Lego and 90% other toys and household items (home and kitchen, tools, health and personal care, beauty, grocery etc). Started with Lego but branched out 2 years ago. Like Lego start with another niche, learn the ropes, send in product, master it and then move into the next niche. For each niche you will learn the best items to buy, when the good sales are, ideas to create your own bundles, best keywords for your PPC campaigns etc. With Lego you don't have to do any of that, but the returns are far less as well because it is such low hanging fruit. Obviously the big revenue is in private label and wholesale but profit margins are much less (around 10%). IMO Lego still gives the best hourly rate if you can store it at home and sit on it for 3-4 years. OA and RA gives good hourly rate with good consistent cash flow. Wholesale and private label gives the best cash flow but much less hourly rate after all expenses. Lots like to mix RA, wholesale and private label. Plenty of opportunities and the sky is the limit. Like anything simply takes an initial investment of time and capital and you will take your fair share of failures along the way.

  46. You'd be competing with folks who bought these at $15-20. Kmart had an endless supply of these for over a year at that price. I'd imagine that a few resellers have a several hundred of these so you'll see multiple hurdles at several price points. There's also a new scooby movie coming out next year so we'll probably see another van at that time.
