  1. My latest Craigslist find today for $50. My previous picture didn't save before a few sets had been bagged.

  4. I'm lucky enough to live in Arizona where there are many 99 Cent stores. I've visited about 15 separate stores (a handful of them 4 or 5 times) in the past two weeks (lots of work travel around the state). I've found everything and bought two copies of each for personal builds and a few extra BTTF, JW and Scooby... And it has totally ruined me for paying "real" prices for Lego. I was in a Lego store yesterday and bought the Valentine's picnic. For $10. It felt like highway robbery. I've gotten so used to shelling out $300 for exclusives (like so many others, I have closets full of them) that I'd forgotten how much money that really is. Thanks for the reality check, 99 Cents Only. And for the party supplies, laundry detergent, Captain Crunch, lawn gnome and sack of oranges.

  5. Plus, it's a cool little build. Man, I wish Val-e would just quit. I respect some of his opinions, but lately he's just trying to live up to his avatar, and it's become highly annoying... Sometimes it seems like a terrible act.

  10. One thing I have noticed is that sets are plateauing at "a" price at n months after retiring. 10197 is around £300, it still has not increased in the 18 months since I sold my last one. 10211 is knocking on the door of £300, and has been for the past year. I just sold one for £285. 21110 Research Centre refuses to go above £35. Which is still not bad for RRP of £17 but I was hoping for £50+ 21301 Birds shot up to £80+ Christmas 2015 but has since fallen back to around £70 and again is not rising. Currently the Scooby Doo sets have all shot up 50% due to their unexpected retirement before Christmas but now are falling back to approx 30% above RRP. Getting to Ecto1 I expect an increase - for a set that has always traded at 80%-90% of RRP on eBay - but no more than to £60ish. Initially at least. Let's see how right I am (I want to be wrong )

  14. Finished up the UCS Imperial AT-ST 10174. The kids and I are hooked on SW UCS sets at this point. Next up is the UCS Tie and then the UCS Imperial Shuttle. On this set, we loved the detail that they added on the outside with some of the unusual pieces that were used. We built most of it at my office where space is ubiquitous, and that made it a ton easier since it was a used set with all of the pieces mixed together. Definitely going to try to do that with the Imperial Shuttle as well. I do wish the set came with and At-St pilot, so we will probably BL a couple of those to put with the set. We also took a couple of pics with the new AT-ST 75153 and the AT-DP Micro Fighter 75130 (I don't have the 9679) for scale purposes. It is tough to tell how large this set is without some sort of spacial context.

  15. Seriously, it's been quite the marketing for their stores. I never would've been in there otherwise and I'm seeing a bunch of name brand stuff. Might be a new favorite. And like you said, I'm about to order that Assembly Square tomorrow, $279.99 with 8 minifigures. That same $ would buy 560 minifigures in team packs.

  17. I think that they have resolved the issue of the collectible minifigs being of noticeably lesser quality - by lowering the quality of the regular LEGO minifigs. The problem has been solved.

  18. So, I responded - let's see what kind of pleasant response I receive. First off, I was not lying (suggesting that was offensive, and is not the best way to convince someone to care about helping you out). Second, I was able to confirm that we did receive an extra set (which you could have just waited to find out) - You can either send me a return label, send me $15 to send it back to you myself, or send me the address of the person who ends up buying it (and I could ship it straight to them, saving you the extra shipping costs).

  19. Thursday's aren't any fun any more. Where's the unlimited use 20% off coupons circa 2015? Back when you could scrape together nearly 40% off anything - 20% off coupon, 10% credit card, 12% Raise GC, possibly stack a $5 off coupon, sometimes a generous rounding error by the cashier. I'm leaving work in about an hour for an early weekend. In 2015 I'd have hit two stores on my way out of town. Today - not even considering stopping at one.

  26. Whether the news is positive or negative, it is always good to hear both sides of the coin. Sometimes sets retire early on this side of the pond so it is advantages IMO to have one thread and vice versa.

  27. Well, that depends on the subject of the set. Not every Ideas set is connected to a license, though most are. For example the Birds set which doesn't have an external license. On the other hand, in the Ideas program the original designer of the submission gets a percentage of the sales as well. This will naturally be marked up on the price because LEGO wants to make a healthy profit and not have that commission eat away from their profit. So if you take the Ferrari F40 vs the Caterham Seven, then the main differences are: stickers vs printed pieces the original designer sales percentage mark up for the Caterham And who knows ... Maybe the license fee for Ferrari on the F40 set is smaller (percentage wise) because the total license fee is spread out over many different Ferrari sets, while the license fee for Caterham is exclusively pressing on the Caterham Seven set.

  28. Nice! But yeah it's definitely YMMV because the first one that I went to wasn't Doing that sale. Here's a pic of the items. They also had nerf guns on sale, some lightsabers, and the larger electronic stormtrooper figure.

  37. My $0.02 while stuck in traffic. Did seller make mistake? Yes Was seller rude? Yes Does that give Kshine the right to ignore/punish/get revenge against the seller? Is this tooth for a tooth, or eye for a tooth? I think keeping the set and ignoring the seller would be an extreme reaction to an unpleasant email. Some people have thick skin (Phil) can keep their integrity, peace of mind and move on with life. Others are fragile and well... have a hard time dealing with their emotions. Ethically, there's no room for revenge. I think asking for an apology and a return slip is adequate. No need to lecture them if they're not going to apologize. Getting them to apologize means they have to admit their mistake and their rudeness. For some, that's heaping on burning stones enough. If he refuses to apologize, then your dealing with a sociopath and you should avoid like the plague. Better to send the package back as they know your address. They may drive 50 miles to your house to get their set back. That would be an escalation I would not like to see.

  42. enough tiptoeing, I'm dropping bombshell right here-> we can be in about < 90%sure that we will get three new UCS sets by the end of the year which are as follows inclusive of price tags. #Lego #LegoNews #LegoStarWars Подтверждение некоторых слухов о UCS наборов в линейке LEGO Star Wars Цены примерные 1. UCS BB-8 [100$/150$+] 2. UCS Snowspeeder [-200$] 3. UCS Millenium Falcon [-600$+] end of quote. I'm excited for Millenium Falcon, can't wait to see the final project! Price is on spot since the last one costed roughly about 500USD. BB8 is a little surprise, wonder which model they are going to present? the popular one based on ideas with knob based rolling mechanism inside?

  43. I guess I've simply lost all patience for sellers that behave in less than a professional manner. After the "I'm not sure, let me check" email the correct response from the seller would have been something along the lines of "cool, thank you so much for checking" By calling a customer a liar out of the gate this seller becomes all that is wrong with eBay.
