  6. Add me to the list of victims of these fake claim scams. I will no longer be listing expensive items on Amazon. But special thanks to BA for helping me get my money back on an expensive set. His advice in this thread was spot on.

  9. I been doing Ebay for 18 years, never signed up for the Ebay Shipping Program, I ship Worldwide except to Russia anything over $100 it has to be mailed Express Mail only, no Exceptions. I always get repeat buyers from alot of countries, as they no it will get there faster, in a well packed box, and get there for sure, When you use Global Shipping, Ebay will open your box and put $500 worth of lego in a smaller not packed box, sure its easier to do Global Shipping, but I want my stuff to get to somebody in Japan, etc in Mint Condition. Plus sometimes the box does not get there on the Guaranteed Date, and you file a claim and you get the shipping money back. Ed

  11. Why'd they have to make it an odd number? For some reason, OCD or whatever, I have to buy them in pairs so I can Yin/Yang stack them. That reminds me, the toy section has fake mustaches so we can go back in for an even 18.

  13. My hometown Kmart lowered their Toys to 40% off (going out of business) and I stopped in again today. Was surprised to see new 2017 Nexo Knights sets and even a Clayface Batman Movie set (would have been $21.00) but I passed. At 60% I would have had a harder time passing them up. Hopefully at 60% off there will still be some good LEGO sets on the shelves. The recent Meijer's haul spoiled me (on top of spending too much during the holidays). I passed up a lot of items that I wouldn't have filled my cart with 2 years ago. 1x Ideas Birds (21301) $26.99 (last one and almost didn't see it lying on the very top shelf on its back) Not sure if I'll keep it for myself or flip it eventually. Couldn't pass it up at that price. 1x Mighty Micros Iron Man vs Thanos $5.99 4x Ninjago Vermillion Attack $5.99 each (plan to part them out somewhat... I have a soft spot for various types of armor and should be an easy way to get it a few without losing money) 1x Elves poly Sira's Airglider $2.39 6x Captain America motorcycle $2.39 each (sell later or give away as prizes or gift bag items)

  17. The clerks in the two stores I went this morning did not even mention it. I bought 11 at one store, then 16 at another store and both clerks didn't say anything. However, most places don't have much left only Sensei Wu, Bart, bad Cop, Cragger with some leftover Benny, Jay and Nya which were the ones I bought.

  19. It's going to be an interesting few months/years to watch these. Kudos to the West Coasters who are QFing these and to the ones holding tight. Everyone who is paying more than a buck and keeping them in the US might be in for a long fight over a couple pennies...

  26. My $.02... We bought 50+ lots from shopgoodwill.com up until a year ago, now just occasionally buy for my collection. Pros: * Variety is huge and nearly all sets and figs you'll find are retired. * It was a great introduction in to brick picking. You will definitely learn your parts, your sets, your Lego eras. If you're starting out with more time than money, and you LOVE sorting, inventorying and assembling Lego, the returns can be decent on a % basis. A typical buy was $125-150 for a 30# box, buy another $25 of parts and manuals and sell on eBay for $6-800. It worked out to a decent stay-at-home hobby/gig for about $15/hour. Open a beer, turn on the TV and have fun. * If you're a collector and want to build cool sets that you would never otherwise buy, you can. I've had old castles, pirate ships and a ton of large SW sets go through my hands. Now I'm only collecting vintage late 70s and early 80s. Latest addition from the site is a very nice 956 auto chassis with a great original box & a 375 yellow castle. * If you're running a parts store this is an awesome way to get a huge number of unique parts. Cons: * It is very difficult to buy sealed sets as they often go for above retail. Some people justify their purchase prices because "Hey, the money's going to a good cause.", making it hard to win some auctions. Of our 50+ buys only 2 of them were for sealed boxes to flip. The rest of the cons are based on buying partial sets and parting them back into complete sets... * You HAVE to study to be able to identify parts, figs & sets to bid properly. Or you will overpay or lose to bidders that did their homework. You may get lucky, but that's gambling. * Scalability is zero. It is time-consuming from one end to the other. Once I got into selling new sets it became sooooo painful sort, inventory, place and wait for BL orders, photography... yada. And it's really nice to list 10 or 20 of an item rather than 1 at a time. * You have to start your own private parts store. I amassed 100,000+ parts, 80% of which are part-sorted (not color-sorted), but I don't have the time, space or desire to start a (real) parts store. If you don't have a decent (sorted) parts supply of your own, buying individual parts will cost a LOT of money. * Unscrupulous listers, i.e. photograph a 15# box of garbage and show a few HP figs and sand green slopes sprinkled in to make you think the box has some value, just to see that you paid $80 for 1# of HP Lego and 14# of bricks. * Ignorant listers, i.e. someone donates a beautiful 30# SW collection and the lister pulls all minifigs into another lot, and then dumps the parts randomly into 3 lots... You'd better buy all 3 lots, and now it's time to buy figs. BTW, the lots often all end within 30 seconds of each other : P (PS - some listers are AWESOME and you will quickly see what locations to avoid) It was a good education, but you really have to enjoy the tedious process. Ultimately my desire to ramp up the business pushed me out of buying from them. But it is pretty cool to pay $65 for a pile of bricks and an empty 4842 box (confirmed by the lister that it's empty), to get it home and find complete a 4842 & 4867 inside the box : )

  27. After visiting my climbing partners house, who is also an AFOL, and seeing his original UCS x-wing 7191, I decided to build 10240. Loved the build, although the back was a bit weak during the first few stages. Can't say I love stickers much but did get the canopy on straight. Think my biggest trouble is that I can't stop until I finish a build. Was in bed at 3am, back up for work at 7...

  37. FYI - I had a water dragon order cancelled on me a few days ago. Hope it goes through for you. And in continued KMT packaging excellence...I groaned as I saw the KMT bag on the front steps. But lo and behold, the store packed it full of peanuts. Packaging win - sets remained unscathed.

  40. No time travel allowed. You are as stuck as the rest of us. Lol I'm not too worried about it. It changes the strategy a little but not much. I stocked up for myself already. Now I'm helping people fill out their collections. I'm lucky I have 9 within 30 minutes of my locations (work or home). I've got a network of people that are helping one another out. Plus I have kids and a wife. It'll be nice to not see pallet loads going out at a time. I will say every single manager and stock person has been very generous with their time and very friendly. Luckily I don't have many more to pick up. But looks like I'll be making multiple trips and pulling out the fake mustache.

  41. You have to click the little white paper next to the order on the orders receive page to send an invoice. If you hover over it, it will say "invoice". You can customize the text in the invoice. You may want to spend some time and just go through every screen on the Store --> Settings page to get familiar with the options. Edit: wow, double ninja'd!

  43. Conclusion of my Simpsons House saga: Returned the set, got my money back, lost my EBay Bucks (but hey, keeping them would have been a bonus). Seller has now relisted the set at his original asking price of $150: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lego-The-Simpsons-House-71006-For-Parts-/201803167055#viTabs_0 Check the Seller Notes: I wish him good luck with that ..... Does sound like he just didn't think glued parts were a big deal in LEGO (he sells all sorts of collectibles, very little LEGO) due to inexperience. And that ziploc bag with glued parts is how I sent it back to him.
