  1. Ordered some track from Brick Coaster (https://www.brickcoaster.com/) and then Bricklink'd the brown pieces to make it look like a wooden roller coaster. We then modified it with power functions and technic chains to get a working lift hill. Need to modify a few other things, but the darn kids keep playing with it and getting in my way!

  4. I'm going to disregard your advice, but I see what you're saying. Worse comes to worse, I finally build that Mech built entirely of Homer Simpson heads I've been dreaming of.

  5. You do realize if you buy a Scooby Dimensions pack, open the box and throw it away, you now have 2 LEGO minifigures, Scooby and Shaggy, as well as a buildable MM and a 3-in-1 Scobby snack. You also have 4 LEGO Toy pads that are great for displaying minifigs. If you don't see profit there with a buy-in of $1, I think you need your glasses checked.

  6. Another 10030 update. Built the other half of the bottom. Probably faster since it's a mirror image from the day before. 104 out of 225 pages complete.

  7. We are not the only buyers for these sets. The 99 Cent Store clientele shops there for a reason. Whenever a hot commodity toy comes into stock, they are all over it. A ton of these will show up at Swap Meets and south of the border for years to come. They are not our competitors. Btw - if the Doctor Who Cyberman pack become available, I will have the ultimate Dalek and Cyberman army ever assembled.

  8. I don't understand how there's even a question if these $1 packs are worth getting. If someone offered me Scooby, Homer, etc minifigs in any quantity I wanted for $1 each, I'd buy a few thousand.

  9. I am stealing Jaisonline's idea from last year! For each LIKE $***THIS***$ post gets I will donate 1 dollar! 1 like=1 dollar towards the schools raffle!

  10. Sign says limit of 5 "Fun Packs"... so take all the level and team packs . ?

  11. I think any of the level packs are an amazing deals. From a gaming perspective it's the only way into the Scooby, Simpsons or Portal worlds. But just from a minifigure perspective, you'll do just fine with Shaggy and Scooby for years to come.

  12. Maybe. Or they'll wish they had bought more. I'd guess the latter. I have bought 230 Homers in the last 3 days. I have sold 40 of them in the last day. I have a buyer in the UK who wants to buy 100 of them. And I sell at toy shows where the figs will sell quickly if priced at $3 - $4. Maybe it will take me two years to sell them all, but what are the other Lego investments that will double or triple my money in two years?

  13. I just modified it a little bit more to make it another "brick" taller and to make the lift chain easier to connect to the car. Pictures of the power functions and chain below...

  14. I purchased a train lot last year for $500 on eBay. Seller noted that items were new and used. His pictures were lackluster and a little confusing; however, he was very responsive to my messages. I wasn't entirely sure how much I was going to receive, but I knew based on what he provided that I could part it out to gross at least $1000. Well, the box shows up and weighed over 40 lbs. Half was still sealed with unused sticker sheets and manuals (no boxes). The other half was built but bagged according to set. The 3 BNSF trains alone pretty much paid for the entire lot. (And I thought I was only getting 1.) Recently tallied my net profit (minus purchase price, fees, shipping) -- $1950. I don't expect to find a lot like that again...

  18. Just finished 10243 Parisian restaurant. 3rd modular build after PC and PS. By far the best so far! The roof section is just gorgeous. I'd buy that by itself Had a bit of help from my 4 year old which was fun

  20. Maybe in North America, European market is a totally different. European Brickpickers get alot of flack for always being negative and talking of doom and gloom, but comparing North American market with EU is apples and oranges.

  24. I won a mixed ebay toy lot 2 years ago for $45 that was a haul... it was advertised as a hot wheels and games lot but came as an afterthought with 8 retired MISB lego sets, including MISB Sears Tower, John Hancock, Rockafeller, Sydney Opera House (small set), Hydraxon (from 5 yrs ago) and 3 other old bionicle sets. Sold off the Bionicle sets for over $600, kept the Architecture, gave my kids the hot wheels and board games.

  25. Great fun to look around the small independents though and support them where possible. Sadly they won't be with us forever. It's a lot more interesting than walking the aisles of Clones R Us.

  26. Seems my local toy store has quite a bit of retired stock kicking around as they haven't got an online presence. I asked permission if I could take some pics. 23 to look through tonight!

  27. Yeah, I think a better option is to wait for a retail sale and get everything for an extra. $10-$15

  29. Over on Eurobricks just2good (of YouTube channel fame) is staunchly claiming that Dimensions is done, and that most Year 3 content won't see the light of day. Non-believers are getting tarred & feathered by the crowd (I exaggerate of course).

  30. Although I am not talking "big bucks" here, when Collectible Minifigure Series 14 "Monsters" was first released, I happened to come across them at the local Walgreen's. While the shelf price was listed at $3.99, they rang up at $.99 each. Needless to say, I bought out all the stock they had, completing two sets for my own collection and sold or gave away any triplicates. So, I suppose getting a complete set of 16 for $15.84 which represented a 75% savings! Total fluke... and again, not big bucks.

  32. My lesson in Kmart math: A = Star Wars First Order Transporter #75103 $79.99, earn $22.99 in points B = Creator Lakeside Lodge #31048 $21.16, earn $2.11 in points C = A + B = 2 sets $101.15, earn $25.10 BUT Kmart math (checkout) says C = 2 sets $101.15, earn $49.16 Which works out to 59% off: $39.75 for 75103 and $13.25 for 31048 inc. tax. Glitchy stuff. I got in one order, then the FOT went off the points back special

  34. You are looking at a period when people could have gone to TRU to get these sets brand new for $40-45. That is one reason why BrickLink didn't have many sales during Christmas/New Years. If you are patient and can hold inventory for a year, these are easy sets to make double your investment back even if you sell for original retail price. Also, TBBT has 7 minifigures. My cost/set was $35.26 all-in. If I can sell all 7 minifigures for $35, that's basically free parts for me. I don't see much difficulty moving 7 unique minifigures for $35 CAD.

  35. My $0.02 The first two waves of dimensions were way over produced, everybody knows that. I never paid more than $4.50 for a fun pack, except to get a green arrow. but I've seen a significant decline in availability of the later, arguably more desirable, waves. I think Lego learned its lesson. Joined the pre-order game to help judge interest, and will hopeful mature well the next 2-3 years. I don't think we'll find an A-team or Harry Potter sell-off like this. If they develop the game and story more with these great characters, it can draw a crowd for some time. There's still a chance for this game.

  36. If I saw the ET or Gremlins minifigs on sale for a 1.00... i'd freak... One thing that is nice about the lego dimensions is that once the games become obsolete after a 2 year period... at least the minifigs will hold some value. The ET, BA Baracus, Ghostbusters, BTTF, and Fantastic Beasts are worth it. It's not hard to list a minifigure on amazon... come on. Who cares about the little blue disk that eventually becomes obsolete... or the lego parts. Those can be tossed into a giant "Brick per lb" lot.

  37. That store that shall not be named serves about 10% of the US population, if that and Amazon serves 99.9% minus banned people. All deals are great, all deals that are open to everyone are better. Alternative facts may have been used in this post.

  38. It's a beast! It's also one of my favorite Lego sets of all time. I don't think I can ever get myself to sell it. Here's a pic of me holding the inner frame on mine. I think the set is pretty solid with the exception of the long panels that are held on by magnets. Good luck with the sale, although you're not going to need it. I believe you got this for $100 so your return is going to be nice.

  42. Finished up the last of our CL find...The SW Snowspeeder 75049. The two At-Ats are in trouble now that we have built their nemesis. Lol. Fun little build...but probably wouldn't be worth the $68 price these are going for on Amazon or the $50 price elsewhere.

  43. My daughter finished up the UCS Red 5 X-Wing 10240 yesterday with a little help from me. It is her favorite set and she was super excited to finally get to build one. The kids got their first Lego set for Christmas in 2015, and this was our 50th set to build as a family. What a great family hobby! (And so far it has been a hobby that has paid for itself through sales of extra sets that we have bought...which is tough to beat.)

  44. I think the best deal I actually ever had on LEGO was finding BrickPicker back in 2012. I can't think any deal that was really better than this.
