  4. Finished! It's missing about 30 pieces that will be easy and cheap to buy from BL. I purchased it couple weeks ago for $240 on CL thanks to a tip from @terrymc4677 Will sell on eBay for $600-700.

  6. Past several weeks since the Holidays - three sets that have nothing in common! I built the AT-ST after seeing Rogue One right before Christmas. As someone who is new to LEGO Star Wars collecting, this was a must have as soon as I saw it was being released. Great set! Brings back lots of happy memories of playing with my Kenner AT-ST from the 90s. The only thing I'm more excited for is the soon to be released Y-Wing! I received the Temple of Airjitsu for Christmas (a technicality, I bought it myself for my folks to give me) - a fantastic looking set that displays really nicely. I don't have much use for the mini figures, but I suppose the citizens of Ninjago will one day make it into my LEGO city, and I have some ideas for MOC'ing the Temple and the Ninjas with my Dragon Knights from the 90s. I'm frankly surprised that this set was released - a theme that doesn't really appeal to AFOLs but not a ton of playability for kids - as a kid I needed something to attack and defend, and this...well...its a Temple, not a Castle. Still, no complaints, its awesome! Finally, I just finished the simple but very nice Lakeside Lodge. It will look nice beside the Mountain Hut. I like the simple creativity of some of these Creator sets. My wife and I are hoping to own some mountain property one day; in the meantime, we'll live vicariously through LEGO! As always, thanks to this community for helping me get these sets for good prices. I bought ToA over the summer when B&N had its 30% sale that unintentionally allowed you to buy books AND LEGO with the discount, and the other two sets were absurdly cheap thanks to Kmart / SYW nonsense. Up next, the U-Wing - bought through JET.com during their sale in November, another great BP tip!

  18. I was updating my inventory on BL with all these polybags Ive been picking up. When adding the Batman Phantom poly I thought the picture looked familiar. Sure enough, BL is using the photo I took for my lot of 10 polys that I sold on eBay. Some how I feel honored that they DeBoed my picture off there. Lol.

  19. Well, 2016 is wrapping up... So, as we sail into 2017 and a whole new set of sets are on the way, let's take a look at the retirement sets and what they could bring us in 2017 and beyond. Here's what I speculate. #19 - First Order Snowspeeder - I think this set will double, but it will be a slow double that might take a few years to get there. It's quirky, it was only seen as a background in the movie, and you barely saw the snowtroopers in action. Overall, it sits as one of those sets that will be in a grey area. #18 - Hoth Attack & Droid Escape - in the US these sets had a 9 month shelf life. There really is nothing to either though, and the Han Solo minifigure from the Hoth Attack set was in a polybag a few years back. The snowtrooper, and rebel trooper are also in other sets, so nothing too exclusive here... but Hoth Sets always seem to do well. I expect this one to also double in the future. Droid Escape has the Jawa's.. This is a set you pair with a Sandcrawler. #17 - Sith Infiltrator & Naboo Starfighter - The sith infiltrator has never been a set that has made a lot of profit, and I don't suspect this one will either. On top of that, Darth Maul, and Qui-gon are in an upcoming set, so those figures are going to appear again. I guess, the Watto Minifigure is really the best thing in this one, but Watto is not that iconic of a character. I feel the same way about the Naboo Starfighter. #16 - Hailfire Droid - This set is below average in my opinion. The first Hailfire Droid was far superior. The minifigures on this one aren't really going to boos the value either. This is one that might hit 2x but take forever to sell at that price. #15 - Anakin's Custom Jedi Starfighter - This set doesn't do much for me, but it's one of those quirky sets that some star wars nuts love to own. Sooo... i'd stash a couple just in case. But, I suspect it will have slow resale potential. #14 - Set of Series 3 Microfighters - Microfighters have some juice to them. I recently sold off a series 2 set for almost 2.3 x it's original RRP value. I also have sold series 1 complete sets for quite a good amount of profit. Overall, I still think these little sets have some legs. Selling them in complete sets makes it easier though.. and just how i've done it. #13 Imperial Troop Transport - Rebels set with 4 stormies. Overall, they are unique to the rebels theme, but i'm not sure the Stormtrooper figures themselves will be as in demand. With the Rogue One battlepack containing more troopers, and every advent calendar containing one, I doubt these skyrocket in value. Still could easily get close to 2x. #12 - Geonosis Troopers, Shadow Troopers, and Senate Soldiers - i'm grouping these together. All of these have interesting minifigures, but i'm not sold they will quickly double your money. Overall, good to have a few laying around, but nothing worth having a ton of. #11 - Tie Advanced Prototype - Cool ship, and interesting build.. It's rebels though, and i'm not sure the rebels theme will have long legs. Same can be said about the Imperial Assault Carrier #10 - Obi Wants Interceptor - Anakin's Jedi Interceptor has almost hit 3x... I suspect Obi's interceptor will do a similar. It was around for a lot less time than Anakin's, and I don't think as many copies were produced. #9 - Resistence Troop Transporter - I personally like this set. It's plain jane, but with Carrie Fishers death, this set could very well have some momentum. It also had a relatively short shelf life of a year. Overall, not the most iconic of ships, but it's Leia's ship. #8 - FO Transporter - Captain Phasma, with Flametroopers and FO Stormies will sell this one as EP 8 and 9 approach. I personally like this set out of all the first wave of Force Awakens sets. I know others don't, but I like the minifigures, and absolutely think the ship design itself is fun, quirky, and serves its purpose. My son also plays with this one quite a bit. #7 - Ewok Village - This set has already jumped up in value... To me it's a great set, and just one of the best Star Wars sets any kid would want. It's also stacked with minifigures and has a iconic exclusive Leia figure.. #6 - Battlefront Battlepacks - These sets have some interesting variants, and minifigures. While the builds are nothing great, the minifigures like the Shock Trooper, and some of the rebel alien soldiers could be solid "semi" rare minifigures in the future. I see these easily doubling, if not quadrupling in a few years. #5 - Vaders Tie Advanced vs A-wing Starfighter - What I like most about this is how short its shelflife was. That alone should make it a rarer set in the future. This one is a crap shoot. I think it can go either way... but I think because of that it's worth putting in the top. This is a set that either goes near 4x or hovers near 2. #4 - Death Star Final Duel - Iconic scene from the OT. OT sets are usually solid, and this one has a lot going for it. I think it could do well. It's already jumped out of the gates. #3 - Battle Droid Troop Carrier - Say what you may about the Phantom Menace, but these Droid vehicles are gold as investments. The MTT from 2014 is already 160 on amazon, and this set is it's little sister. I personally, think this was an awesome build, and a great freaking set. It's by far the best troop carrier, and no one was talking about this one. I give this one a real chance to hit 140 in a few years. 3x or bust on this one. #2 - Sandcrawler - Give it time... lots of time, and this set will be the one where you make the most money for little effort. Even if this set doubles, you make hundreds on it by just having to go to ship a set once. Not bad. #1 - Imperial Shuttle Tydirium - This is by far the best set that retired, IMO. The minfigures are great, and I really like this set and think it will perform very well over time. I also don't see them making this one again in a long time.

  23. Well, 76€ for 76106 Imperial Assault Carrier isn't bad compared to its RRP of 130€. Looking at completed ebay sales I'd say one won't lose money at that buy-in. So I took my chances and purchased my first (and probably only) copy of the set.

  27. Totally. Favorite set in my short selling career. I parted out around 40 of these. Even at RRP this is a profitable set to split. Demand has been consistently strong. Even when these were on sale, I was selling built Tardis exteriors for a pretty penny. If this set had numbered bags, it would have been the greatest set of all time for the set splitting crowd. This set will do fantastic after EOL.

  30. Not to poopoo, but the TRU deal may still be best for most of us here, considering just about all of us dabble in discounted GCs, rewards points, free polys, and TRUTH. Not sure how many of us are apart of the gamers club at best buy.

  38. Kids and I had been "good busy" the past week. Personally, I've been so busy with the biz side of the Lego hobby & regular work that it felt good to build something. It's been months... 10198 Tantive IV (only missing Capt. Antilles. I've built a 10198 before but ending up flipping it 2 years ago) 75150 Vader's TIE Advanced vs. A-wing Starfighter 9495 Gold Leader's Y-wing Starfighter (originally built it 3 years ago. Then tore it done).

  39. Finally picked up a 10143 Death Star (sealed boxes / bags - opened box). Been wanting the set since 2014 but never pulled the trigger. Wish I would have then. Would have saved some coin ($500). Just need to figure out if / when i will be building it.

  44. Greetings fellow block heads and firstly many thanks to you all for contributing to what is without doubt the friendliest forum I've ever lurked on. As somebody who has tended to exclusively surf on football forums (soccer for those in the states) with their overt and constant tribalism this place has been an absolute breath of fresh air and a real pleasure to read. I've been in the background for the last year and am one of those posters some of you have referenced on here in frustration, you know, the non-posting members who you fear snaffle all your hot tips without giving back. Why? Well, I originally joined this place simply in order to learn more about older themes and building techniques so I could help out my kids and nieces with their building passion. I never expected to get so interested in the bricks myself! You'll be delighted to learn I'm not here as a budding investor and won't be stepping on your toes in that area. Yes I have a number of unopened sets boxed up in the spare room but that's because I've gotten tired of Lego retiring sets before I get around to buying them so my policy these days is "buy it if you like it and build it when you can". (though of course if any of these rocket in value before I have the chance to build them.....) (... then I'll still build them!). Personally I'm a huge fan of the large creator expert sets, it astounds me how clever these are and what an absolute pleasure they are to build. Simultaneously challenging and relaxing (being a near middle age adult perhaps I shouldn't be admitting to the challenging part!). There's not much more I enjoy in an evening then putting a game on the TV and settling in for a building session. The Fairground Mixer is a particular favourite, I've had that one on display for the last half year and it still brings a smile to my face. I've become a regular visitor to the daily deals thread (huge thanks to the frequent contributors in those) as despite scanning Hot Deals UK for a couple of years I always seemed to miss the best ones on there. Dropping in on the daily threads I know why! You guys are seriously on the ball here and have helped me pick up several nice deals (don't panic, never more than a single copy of a set!) so again, many thanks to you all for your postings in this area. I've decided to finally post on the one hand to repeatedly thank all of youse and on the other to selfishly ask for some advice. My family and I are huge fans of all sets with action features such as exploding walls, trapdoors, falling blocks etc. The kids just love combining these sets into enormous adventures and though we have a decent collection of sets I'm struggling to find a good list of these across multiple themes. To give a few specific examples we've already gotten copies of and love the following sets: Indiana Jones - Temple of the Crystal Skull, 7627; Temple Escape, 7623; The Lost Tomb, 7621 Prince of Persia - Quest Against Time, 7572 Monster Fighters - Vampyre Castle, 9468 Lone Ranger (seriously!) - Silver Mine Shootout, 79110 Pharaoh's Quest - Scorpion Pyramid, 7327 Marvel - Attack on Avengers Tower, 76038; Jokerland, 76035 Disney Princess - far too many to mention! I'm aware there's a number of superhero sets out there that fit the bill and we do have various others in this theme but I was wondering is there a thread on this forum that vaguely covers this area? Some kind of "Best Action Feature Sets" or similar (both retired and current)? I've explored many of the nooks and crannies on here but am yet to encounter such a catch-all thread. Failing that are there any knowledgeable posters on here with some free time and thoughts to share? I'd greatly appreciate any input. I wasn't sure where to put this question and given I've learnt the protocol on here is to start a thread when you join I figured I might as well go for two birds with the one stone (albeit a year or so late!). I've never been the most loquacious with online communication (I spend all day at work on computers and try to avoid them in my free time) but given the vast amount I've absorbed from this forum I definitely owe something in return and will endeavor to contribute going forward. I'm not sure I'll be able to add much outside of enthusiasm and exuberance for all things Lego but I'll do my best! Many thanks for your time and I look forward to hot brick discussion going forward. Cheers, Jack.

  45. I only started buying last month when the sales hit. Ended up with a half dozen which is a lot for me these days. Only 40 sellers on amz. 75 or so on ebay. Seems low. I honestly thought I had it high enough on amz that no one would buy it. Not really in sell mode now but always have some overpriced stuff listed.

  46. These sets are crack for kids. I love how they have to give 20 different villians separated in what seems 20 different vehicles! Overall, I have to admit, after seeing a display with all the different sets, and allowing my son to buy about 10 packs of the mini's.... I can't see myself saying "no" to a bunch of the sets once the movie hits. I think this will be Lego's biggest theme this year, by far. Lego has nailed it with this movie, and toy line rollout IMO.
