  1. Finally picked up a 10143 Death Star (sealed boxes / bags - opened box). Been wanting the set since 2014 but never pulled the trigger. Wish I would have then. Would have saved some coin ($500). Just need to figure out if / when i will be building it.

  3. Kids and I had been "good busy" the past week. Personally, I've been so busy with the biz side of the Lego hobby & regular work that it felt good to build something. It's been months... 10198 Tantive IV (only missing Capt. Antilles. I've built a 10198 before but ending up flipping it 2 years ago) 75150 Vader's TIE Advanced vs. A-wing Starfighter 9495 Gold Leader's Y-wing Starfighter (originally built it 3 years ago. Then tore it done).

  11. I think the lego batman movie sets will far outsell and out perform the Lego Movie sets. My opinion, strictly, but I already see the "collect em' all" strategy here and it's brilliantly well orchestrated. I really didn't feel the "collect them all" with the Lego Movie line, but here the way this is setup it's hard not to want all of these. First, all the main villian characters have a variety of vehicle sets - all of them look great. Killer Croc, Joker, Catwoman, Penguin, Riddler, and Scarecrow come with a vehicle, and all of them are quirky and interesting. I especially like the Killer Croc vehicle, and the Penguins. Overall, the entire vehicle lineup is well done. Next up, you have a mini-playset if you buy 3 sets. Reminds me of the DolGuldur set from the hobbit a few years back. You get Joker, Mr Freeze, and Scarecrow part 1 in this one. You'll need the walmart exclusive to have the set. Then it's slated for a Two-face vehicle, Bane vehicle, Scarecrow copter, Haley Quinn will also have her own vehicle in a set.. Add in the clayface figure, and overall I give this entire lineup a big solid A++++. To me, this theme reinvigurates Lego. Yes, batman has been done before, yes many of these minis are in other batman oriented lines, but this lineup for this movie is just fun and I can see a lot of kids wanting all of these. I personally, will buck up and buy the theme. I haven't really bought many batman sets over the year, but this is definitely on my radar. I also think the collectible minifigure lineup is a+ too.

  13. Love this idea. Disney minifigs and 70900 Joker Balloon Escape And yes JBE would make a great addition to a fairground, even without the Mickey heads.

  15. There's alot of stories in this forum about getting lego on clearance but that is mainly in USA. In UK it's alot rarer to pickup sets in clearance as most places only do that if: -store is having a closing down sale -boxing day / new years sale -random wild goose chase reported on HUKD -rare instore miss price I've personally stopped shopping instore. Only time I go instore to buy now is when a set is close to retirement / rumour of set being a winner. Even then most of the time it's easier to get online. In UK the way forward is to come up with a list of winners, and purchase when 3 for 2 sales start. Or to pickup sets that workout to be >60% off in 3 for 2 sales. This is a simplified strategy buthope.you get my drift. I've wasted many hours of my life driving around shops hoping to pickup a deal and coming home empty handed, never again. If you add up all the time you spent driving around to shops buying etc, it's not worth it. Sure you might get a bargain, but that will be and exception and not the normal. My 2 cents.

  17. Today is the last day to use the $5 off $25 / $10 off $50 coupon at Shopko. It stacks with sale and clearance prices. I've been stocking up on Airport Passenger Terminals. They are on sale for $70. The coupon brings them down to $60, which is 40% off. I stopped at 20.

  26. There's a really good explanation for that. In The Netherlands, unlike in most other countries, we can subtract the interest paid on our mortgage from our income tax. Which in turn causes the housing prices to be exorbitant, compared to our neighbours. The debt shown above is mainly caused by mortgage loans covered by the housing property itself. It's not consumer debt where people buy stuff they can't afford based on installments. So it looks worse than it actually is.

  27. @donbee Thank you for sharing. I think Brickpicker offers a great community to share sorrows and triumphs. Because of this business, I frequently find myself in a position of rage with no sympathetic ear or glory with no one to share it with.

  29. Playsets are almost always investment "turds". Just look at the performance of 75052, which included a ridiculous number of unique minifigs, Luke's landspeeder, and some sort of giant green lizard, but still barely made it 50% over MSRP after a year. 75093 pales in comparison. Gray and ugly, with no vehicles and few minifigs. I would have bought at $30.

  30. And then there's this: I am however pleased to offer my Dutch buyers retired MISB lego sets on credit. Interest rates are competitive, but payment is accepted in dollars only. I don't want to be left holding the bag when the euro is "retired" in the near future.

  32. If you can swing it, ordering in quantity lessens the chances of you receiving your sets in a bag. Whenever I order battle packs or $20-$30 sets, I order at least 3 at a time. If you order 1 or 2, you're guaranteed a set that looks like it was smashed by the Hulk. Larger sets are less of a worry but I rarely get pristine boxes on anything that I order from Kmart. I'm fairly certain the overeager shipping clerk fist bumps every set upon packing.

  33. So I built a UCS 10212 Shuttle last week and had to quickly stash it away from the meddling hands of kids. I set on our bedroom dresser and left it there for the evening. Later on, after the meddling kids were gone I assured the wife that the lego would not be in our bedroom. We have established rules in our home where displayed lego is acceptable and the bedroom is no such place. Well, I was about to move it and she actually said it looked ok and to leave it where it was (for a bit). Now I know that you all don't know... but trust me when I say WOW! Now talk about a CEO/credenza test. This set is a winner! Happy Friday all!!! GO PACK GO!!!

  46. OMG, so I was going through some old pictures and I found this gem from Christmas 2006. This is me, 8 year old Stud-Flipper with one of the first LEGO sets I ever got. It was early and I was very sleepy, and probably a little grumpy that I didn't get the batcave or joker copter.

  47. I think the Donald is an exact copy of the one in each. Daisy has a different torso print and color in the castle set. Captain Hook is actually my fav from the series so I am biased.I had heard that Buzz Lightyear was the most rare one from the set but not sure.
