  1. My boy is visiting this week! He'll be home in several hours. I haven't seen him since just after basic training, 2+ years ago. At 24 he think he's the ****. I'm gonna drink the boy under the table tonight. I love it!

  2. Hi guys, just a quick update but a micro build I am very pleased with! I have wanted to build a micro Falcon for sometime now and this actually took a bit longer than I had hoped but I am really happy with the end result. Untitled by dimitrinicomanis, on Flickr Its only 4x4 but I have managed to get in all the details that make the Falcon the iconic ship it is. Untitled by dimitrinicomanis, on Flickr The base wasn't part of my original idea but I had the Falcon on a tan plate just as a random support and suddenly thought it would look quite cool if there was a micro Mos Eisley below. Untitled by dimitrinicomanis, on Flickr The colour of the Falcon is white because as a kid to me it was always white, the toys might have got the colours wrong but they just stuck with me!

  5. Personally I think what we are experiencing here is a paradigm shift from Lego designed to maximize profits by capitalizing on the buying habits of investors, retailers and 3rd party sellers. You only have to look at eBay sales to know that Ecto-1 is a rampant seller so Lego have clearly produced this on a grand scale. On one hand it's marketing genius, they must be cleaning up with the Retiring Soon tag. The problem however is by shafting the 3rd party seller looking to cash in on retirements now they're technically setting themselves up to get their fingers burnt next time round. Now the guess work's taken out of the retirement game very few will be taking gambles over the coming year and unless they change their strategy again to capitalize on perceived future purchases I see Lego taking a massive hit from the reseller market in 2017.

  12. The Lighthouse My story For this modular (creator) building was that the The Lighthouse is based for a creation to fit in the Sea front Village. I built this one on Lego Digital Designer (LDD). I really believe that this model could have a lot of genuine interest for fans of my Sea front Village sets. This is the fifth building that I will be submitting. Summary A lighthouse is a tower, building, or other type of structure designed to emit light from a system of lamps and lenses, and to serve as a navigational aid for maritime pilots at sea or on inland waterways. Lighthouses mark dangerous coastlines, hazardous shoals, reefs, and safe entries to harbors, and can assist in aerial navigation. Once widely used, the number of operational lighthouses has declined due to the expense of maintenance and use of electronic navigational systems. On a clear day you can see forever.. How often can you see a light house? Popular with tourists, get in early and enjoy the ambiance.. A short walk from the Lighthouse there is an Old Fishing Store down the road, which has bait and tackle. Or go around the lighthouse and enjoy a magnificent view. The Lighthouse is under some construction and is also getting painted. The following is a list of the Lighthouse items: Minifig: Carpenter, Fisherman, Painters and Lighthouse manager. Sealife: Crabs, Starfish, Sea grass, Seagull, And more Boat: Rowing boat The building consists of roughly 2380 parts and a boat, office, bedroom, kitchen, deck with a porch and outhouse, light room, storage room between the cliff. I used the colors sand blue and white glow, reddish brown for the building that gives it a realistic feeling. The roofs I used the color dark stone grey and reddish brown. The roof just sits on a couple of studs so it’s easy to take of and put on. If you like this design or the idea of the The Lighthouse – Modular (Creator) Building thanks for reading and Brick On everyone ! https://ideas.lego.com/projects/163836

  13. Nobody goes out to see movies anymore. It's time for Lego to retire PC and replace it with a modular Starbucks where all the minifigs sit around sipping lattes and updating their Facebook pages.

  14. Lots of sets are 25% - 30% off on Kmart.com. Largest discounts I've seen since before mid December when they where pushing 35% off on some items. With SP and other offers you can easily score some good sets for 40-75% off. Good offers include: AT-TE posted by Lordoflego above $89.99 Avenge jet $44.99 http://www.kmart.com/lego-dc-comics-super-heroes-avenjet-space-mission/p-004W007062463001P?plpSellerId=Kmart&prdNo=14&blockNo=14&blockType=G14 FOTT posted by exicter above $69.99

  15. My local Kmart is closing too, and its my first one so I've been trying to find an angle as well. Here's my $.02. Others with more experience please guide us:) * Week 1 all toys were 25% off. The morning of day 1 you might be able to find retired/hard-to-find sets at 25% off. At my store they were stocking the shelves with new sets too. * Bring & max your coupons. A lot of them work even though they say right on them that clearance items are exempt. * I'm not 100% sure on this, BUT... Pay with GC/cash or GC/cash + points. If you spend just points, the paper coupons for future deals do not appear. Make sure you tell the cashier emphatically that you DON'T want to spend your points. My last two trips I said multiple times that I want to spend $20 points and put the rest on a GC. Both times they said "Your stuff is free!" and screwed me. I talked to the CS person there and said that since the system is in clearance mode all sales are final and they can't back out the transaction. * I talked to my store manager to try to buy them out of LEGO, and he said that he can't do anything on pricing in the store, because when they go into liquidation, the outside liquidator company takes over all store pricing... Which means that its likely that all of our local stores closings will be handled similar to one another (slow weekly markdowns over 8-10 weeks). * Talk to employees in the department and try to learn what days they'll be marking down toys and show up when the store opens on that day. For the store below it was always Thursdays. This is from exciter last year in this forum. I plagiarized this from another forum. Some KMarts ship out their stuff to other stores, others get clearance stuff shipped to them and liquidated. A final update for the Lancaster, Ohio (43130) Store: Toys were reduced to 60% off on Thursday (May 12th). I stopped in this morning (Saturday, May 14th). The only Lego sets left, not including Chima blister packs, were about ten #70725 Ninjago Mech Dragons. Here's a week-by-week summary of the listed toy discounts for the store and my inventory notes (YMMV for other store's liquidation sales): Week 01 (March 10th): 20% Off Week 02 (March 17th): 25% Off - Lego sets slightly picked over, but still almost a full selection Week 03 (March 24th): 30% Off Week 04 (March 31st): 30% Off - Note: Easter was March 27th Week 05 (April 7th): 30% Off Week 06 (April 14th): 40% Off - Still plenty of Lego sets, though some themes/sub-themes were depleted (e.g., Super Heroes were almost all gone, Star Wars was gone, Disney Princesses, most 2016 sets) or at least somewhat picked over (City, larger Creator sets, Friends, Elves). But, if you're just looking for parts packs, there was still a very decent selection. Week 07 (April 21st): 50% Off Week 08 (April 28th): 50% Off Week 09 (May 5th): 50% Off Week 10 (May 12th): 60% Off - Lego sets almost all gone

  16. On a totally unrelated topic, I had a buyer with zero feedback and a newly created profile buy from me a Green Arrow and Supergirl Polybag set. As I normally do when getting an order from a new eBay member I googled their username, address, etc to make sure things match up to some degree so I have some back up in case things go south. When I searched his eBay username the only thing that came up were several profiles to different adult dating websites (and by dating, I mean pretty hardcore hook up websites with descriptions of acts that would make my mother faint). I'm not sure why the guy is using the same user name for eBay and for hook up websites but more power to him. On the plus side, he does have a record of living where he says he lives, so there's that at least.

  17. Hid a few posts. Sorry. Don't want to promote that crap or the scammers selling it. Report the listing to eBay. I don't know if that would do anything, because most of the time you have to buy the item to leave an effective negative comment or have an effect on the seller.

  18. It really does work! I used exciter's time today and here's my proof! It's all I could buy because they didn't have chip readers back then and most of my money is dated 2011 and beyond. I also picked up some elves for 50% off at both Walmart and target. Both places didn't have them marked. A few small Friends sets at 50% and a City Fire Boat at 50%. Also stopped by a Lego store to get the free bat signal poly. Wish I had my kids with me to get more.

  26. If you can wait until September you can get for 20% off during Smyths annual 20% off all lego sale (instore only). Smyths also do vouchers from time to time (£5 to £20 off coupons). They did quite a few coupons last year which you could use instore and online. If you want to buy from Lego you can wait until they do double VIP points or a good promo set, and just sell the promo set to recoup some cost. High probability Slave 1 will be around till at least end of the year, tie fighter looks looks like the more likely set to retire next.

  34. Apps are getting popular. Main ones are OfferUp and LetGo. I typically just type in Lego and filter newest and put max (I believe it's 35-50 miles from your location) people live on these apps. I woke up the other day to a listing for a sealed At At for 60 dollars. Was up for 1 hour when I saw it messaged the person and she sold it 12 minutes after listing it. Depending where you live (higher population more competition) I make it a habit of checking Craigslist, offerup, letgo almost daily.

  45. (Update) I'd say I've dedicated about 6 hours to this project so far. Still feel like nothing has been done lol. I sorted all the bags/boxes and pulled the minifigures/accessories/etc out of all them. Today I went out and bought 3 different size zip lock 2 1/2 gallon, 1 gallon and 1/2 gallon. Color sorting now. Big pieces go in the big zip lock medium in the 1 gallon and small in the half gallon. I feel once everything is fully sorted it will be much easier to rebuild a lot of these sets. About 50% are 30-60% complete and shouldn't be to hard to put back together. Seems Timmy (or Mathew I think his name was) liked drawing permanent marker on top of a roof (looks to be the roof of a Christmas set judging by the colors) im sure this has been brought up before but figured this would also be helpful to anyone buying lots. After 20-30 minutes on the internet came up with a few solutions. Went with what I had in my house. I used rubbing alcohol, a brush and toothpaste. After 30 minutes of scrubbing I can see it removed about 90% of the marker. I didn't think about it at first but make sure to use gloves...lol my fingers are burning... My DIY kit! Very professional
