  4. I finally had a chance to look at the instructions manual. Oh brother. I knew many of the original 10188 designers worked on 75159 but even so, some of the Q&A comments made me laugh in disgust. Basically, the quaility of this Q&A directly relates to why there wasn't a 75159 Designer Video. Come to think about it, I can't remember the last time an exclusive large set didn't have a Designer Video. While I made nice money selling my 10188s, the AFOL in me is still angry about this reissue.

  6. x2 75912 for $27.49 after tax and the GC that took 3 weeks to get reinstated from my last TRU disaster. When I went to checkout a manager quickly waddled over to inform me that I was not eligible to receive my GWP polybags with my PM. Gave me a nice BS excuse about it not being Toys R Us purchase anymore when I PMed to their own freaking website. Unbelievable and incredibly petty IMHO, its a freaking $3.99 bag that probably cost $1.50 to TRU. In the end its the little things that count, she could have let a $1.50 loss slide and built goodwill with a customer, but instead she took the time to take a tiny free item away from a customer. Things like that stick with people. In the end its over, I have no more GCs or rewards to spend, and I will no longer have to shop with that rotten company. ? ? Toys R Us

  8. Lego.com had a big discount on vampire hearse , big zoo and palpatine arrest coupled with free Martian manhunter poly . They were canceling orders and shipping free polys and yet kept the listings on those sets uP. One member was able to grab like 70 VH. Most ened with tens of free polys If u go to the very first few pages of the order status thread , it is all there .

  10. It is a secret society like The Skulls. Just kidding, Card Cash (https://www.cardcash.com/) is a site to buy discounted giftcards. Sometimes you can get 5+% off on good retailers which helps with your overall % off of Lego sets. There is also Raise.. https://www.raise.com/

  15. Personal preference, but I like the ship that came with the Darkseid set better than the Avenjet. There were a bunch of interesting techniques used in building that ship. In comparison, Avenjet was more like other planes in the Marvel SH series.

  21. Avenjet Space Mission 76049 was $35 clearance also at Shopko tonight. $10 off $30 coupon = $25+tax. I have gathered that Super Heroes isn't very popular here but this is a good price for those who like it.

  22. Finished up my own 10212 Imperial Shuttle this evening. I went without pictures since there are a few other versions in previous pages. Bought sealed, open box during ebay bucks promotion so saved a good bit of money there. Pretty fun build, and all the technic keeps you on your feet because messing up somewhere would really suck. No numbered bags either. Had to do a lot of sorting prior to building to keep from tearing my eyes out.

  26. Built a used 10212 UCS Imperial Shuttle that I picked up for $230 with shipping a couple weeks ago. What an impressive set. I knew it was a large set but it always seems bigger when it sits in the dining room table. Had all minifigs no box no instructions. I can cross this set off my list.

  27. I love how no matter what Lego does, the first 10 or 1000 posts are negative. They're re-doing the Death Star, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO They're not re-doing the Snowspeeder, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Just goes to show that the vocal minority or impacted party will typically dominate the social media and/or public view of any topic. That's how Brexits and Trump elections are mis-predicted.

  30. those days that gravy was even thicker ... coupons used to stack with points . 20% points back on lego purchases+ 10000 points back on $50+ purchase and $10 off $50 purchase. literally after spending $200 you would never be spending effective $ again. with the points banked you could rotate each and every purchases. i remember that x-mas all those diamond jewelry for graduating nieces and females in the houses were said to be paid by points...

  31. I'm not sure how much KMart is willing to apply bans (personally haven't heard of any KMart bans) but the above info are just good warnings to keep in mind when buying/using GCs bought from secondary marketplaces such as Raise, Cardpool, CardCash etc. That way, should you ever get banned, you at least knew it could happen and hopefully planned an alternate strategy in advance. That said, with where Sears/KMart are heading, I doubt you'll have to worry about bans in 2018.

  33. I see a lot of similarities to the Darkseid Invasion set from last year. That one hasn't really taken off yet. Super Heroes have cool sets for fans but investment potential hasn't been the best.

  35. This is not a misprint. Many LEGO minifigure heads have alternate face prints on both sides of the head (in your case, the facial expression is slightly different). This is typically done for minifigures which have a hairpiece or hat that obscures the backside of the head. You can give your minifigure a different look this way.

  36. Bricklink is a pretty good indicator of market value, but unfortunately you have to look at the data in depth to really find out what a set is worth. There's several issues: They have two major categories: New and Used, however we all know a sealed set is worth more than an opened set. You can't list only sealed sets in the price guide. Within the New category, there's three subcategories: sealed, complete, incomplete You can exclude incomplete sets in the price guide, but there's no strict enforcement of the categories. Which basically means I can list a set as Sealed and put in the commentary field: set opened, bags are sealed. Other examples are: no minifigures, only certain parts included (e.g. Snowspeeder in Assault On Hoth), ... Minifigure value is very innacurate: The distinction between new and used minifigures is sometimes rather vague People sometimes list complete sets of 16 minifigures under the part number for a sealed box (60 figures) and even list it as sealed Another major problem is the use of super lots. This is also an issue with regular sets, but with minifigures it's a huge problem. Here's the problem: a super lot is basically a collection of items which are offered all at once, however on bricklink each item gets it's own listing through the catalog. Take for example a set of 16 minifigures for 90€ total. This means that each figure on average costs about 5.63€. However, there is no rule on bricklink that says you can't list one figure in the lot at 89.84€ and all the others at 0.01€. Now a buyer would see those minifigures listed for 0.01€ on the catalog page! Of course you can exclude super lots when selecting an item in the "items for sale" tab. However, for some reason this option is not available in the price guide. This means that all super lot sales are included in the price guide, even the ones that have this unrealistic price of 0.01€. I've complained about it a lot, but it really is a huge issue because it drives the prices down. Buyers look at the price guide and see an average price that is way too low. This price determines (in part) what they are willing to pay for a figure. I urge anyone on bricklink to report this to bricklink support. I've done so a couple of times already, but they keep telling me "they'll pass it on to the tech team". Since all of the sales are listed in a database, adding the option to exclude super lots is a really minor adjustment.

  39. Sadly I don't think they will be dropping again. Its a sale price, not clearance. Clearance has a $0.98 ending and usually would be $2.98 for a $3.99 set, which would eventually be reduced to $1.98 and then $0.98

  43. You gotta look at it like this. That is the set value... on BL. As in, that's how much someone on BL will pay for it. That set can have, and likely will have, a very different value on eBay. Which will differ from Amazon. Fees. Each has a different fee, and shipping expectation. eBay and Amazon buyers love free shipping. BL buyers expect to pay their own shipping. Can be a very large difference in price. Sometimes I'll see some one try to sell something on Brick Classified for the same price they can get on eBay, as if everyone didn't know there isn't any fees on BC. Also, on BL, there are two options that you can toggle when looking at prices. "Group by currency" and "incomplete sets". Click those, and some times it can change the 6 month value drastically. Just because it was paid for in dollars, doesn't mean it was sold in the US, assuming that's your market. Just because something is labeled new, doesn't mean it wasn't actually parted out or even An open box, which would sell for less than NISB ("new sealed" in BL terms). I've seen people list a set "New Complete" but then in the description say "Ship only" Or "New Complete" and then say "built only once". Very annoying. Messes up the metric. At least with the incomplete toggle, you can weed out the ones that were honestly/accurately listed as "new incomplete".

  45. God, i could write a book about it honestly. Here is another one - Out food shopping with the Mrs. So as you do, i say " i'll just go and have a look in the Toy isle darling " Head into the toy isle and there were about 30 x 75034 for about £4 each. I don't have a basket so head off outside to get a trolley, put the sets in the trolley and head off to checkout. Instead of putting them all on the conveyor belt thing i give her 1 set and say " i have 30 in total to pay for ". Lady on the till says " what do you want all them for ? " my reply is " what's it to do with you ? ". Next thing she picks up a microphone and blurts out over the tanoy system" manager to till xxx and security please ". Now i have half the supermarket staring at me. Two minutes later 2 security guys turns up and a minute later the manager. " What is the problem ? " I respond " there is none " Lady on the till says "he is trying to buy xxx amount of these" and the manager says " what is wrong with that ? " I pay and head off into the sunset. You could'nt make it up !
