  4. Lucked into another Grand Hotel at KMart this morning on the way home from a meeting. They were rearranging and this one must have shook out. $65 after 40% off and $10 off coupon.

  5. Darn it. I hate to think that I'm personally responsible for such an appalling theme. At least it sounds like an honest misunderstanding. I said, "make more big, complex classic castle and pirate sets with lots of small pieces" and Lego heard, "release a line of Lego/Duplo hybrid Jetsons-themed monstrosities with giant clunky pieces in day-glow colors." I really need to learn to communicate more clearly.

  7. You Europeans are all doom and gloom these days. This set has been available for several years and already got whatever extras sales the GBHQ and new movie were going to push. What purpose do they have to keep it? As stated on several different threads, there are too many new Ideas sets out or coming out to keep them all around. And it still took more than a few days to sell out after getting the "Retiring Soon" tag (which generated articles on every single Lego/AFOL site and blog). That isn't exactly some kind of insatiable reseller appetite that DEMANDS a complete change in production schedule for a set that probably isn't that profitable since there are IP royalties and designer royalties to pay. I'll eat my words if I'm wrong, but there are plenty of other profitable sets to make, so it isn't as though Lego factories are sitting on their hands waiting for something to do. They will be too busy making Nexo sets for @GhostDad...

  16. I don't know about that. They cut The Lone Ranger after less than a year. I think if Lego was a public company with more professional management, they would stick very heavily to a combination of licensed sets (mostly Star Wars) and large exclusives aimed at teenagers to adults. Ninjago hasn't done badly, but most original Lego themes aimed at kids do quite poorly. Nexo Knights should have seemed an obvious dud to anyone with a brain.

  21. Well the next Ant-Man film isn't released until July 2018 and I'd be very surprised if Lego released another set featuring ant-man prior to 2018. I think the price might stagnate a bit over xmas as most people will be trying to cash in. Probably around SDCC next year when new trailer is released and hype starts to build will be a good time.

  26. Non Lego related but if anyone is interested sears.ca has the MEGA BLOKS USS Enterprise on sale for 224.99 (25% off) and when combined with GIFT50 which gives you another $50 off for spending $200 it takes the total price before tax to $175 which is 42% off. I'm on the fense on this one as I think it will go over 50% off easily at end of life like the COD hovercraft did last year. But I also a perfect spot in my office for one of these bad boys! LLAP!

  29. I have said it before and shall say it again. City shines best with its civilian designs. The part has been around since 1993 but seldom used being barely included with 18 sets. (Technically older as it is the classic Fabuland umbrella but with the proper LEGO logo on the top stud.) Now if you meant the color that is somewhat true with the current year the first in Lime with the 60110 Fire Station. Ah, I see Phil B has ninja me. Touché.

  32. I have no clue about the secondary lego market in Korea. Maybe there is still demand for DS and it is not as hoarded as in Europe. If you want to know. I did not buy and do not plan to buy any set from the money I got for 10188. I keep it apart for a rainy day. Investing in Lego has taught me one thing. If you need the money due to unforseen circumstances. It is very difficult to liquidate when you want. There are too many factors that one is depending on.

  33. Name one black Friday deal from any country outside USA and Canada that was better than Tesco 3 for 2. Sorry, but the last years have been a complete non event unless you want to corner the market on classic Lego boxes. The best deals for Europeans are in October.

  34. I'm 26 and know who the Beatles are, I also get a lot of requests from students to play the Beatles. Also I have watched the Yellow Submarine movie but haven't watched Wall-E despite having a 5 year old nephew, (who has seen the Yellow Submarine movie also, and was excited that Uncle Nate has a Yellow Submarine Lego model) I think I know what to get him for Christmas!

  38. Got my 10 baseplates from Walmart.com that I ordered a week ago when they were on sale for $5.75. Each baseplate came individually boxed with air packs and each baseplate was in excellent condition.. but I can't help but think it might be a little wasteful.

  39. Regarding the Media Mail package from a few days ago: I think the seller got told off by the Post Office - now there is a tracking number for Priority Mail and package has been accepted by USPS. They must have tried to send it Media Mail and got denied at the counter.

  41. I have very strong feelings about the buildable figures. I think that they look terrible and for $5 less, I can get the Hasbro Black series figure and it looks good, has good poseability and is unlikely to pop apart when I shift it. But, I also am taking a look at the Super Hero buildable figures from 2012. Looking at Bricklink, sales stats for the last 6 months shows that of the 6 figures released, the best seller was Green Lantern. 9 sold. for the rest, most of them couldn't even average 1 a month for the last 6 months. They retailed for $14.99, and I remember seeing them hanging around on clearance forever. Sure there may be more demand for Star Wars than Super Heroes, but I have a giant box full of Bionicle and Hero Factory parts that I can't sell for $2 lb bulk, and other LEGO sells for $5 lb quickly. Some people may make some money on these, but I have no faith that there is going to be much demand. I said so a year ago when the first series was released, and I'll keep saying it. LEGO had no faith in their TFA Constraction figures when they marked them down so early, the movement in stores is slow. I just do not see any signs that there's demand for them now, much less 2-5 years from now.

  42. What Lego set did you sell today and for how much? this is the last comment in the thread Yesterday I sold my son's old Legos collection to a guy on Craigslist for $800! My son just went off to college, so these old toys were just sitting around collecting dust. I initially just listed the Star Wars space base thing. The guy called me asking about it and asked if I had anymore and how much. I threw a crazy high number ($1200) so see if he would bite. He offered $1000 and I couldn't agree fast enough. We actually settled on $800 because he had some lame excuse about an atm limit or something. I didn't care because he gave me $800 for a bunch of old dusty plastic bricks! What a schmuck! Included in the sale was a hotel, a Star Wars space ship, the Star Wars base, an old car, and a few other odds and ends. $800!!!! What a schmuck ahahaha pretty sure it is the lot
