Yeah, the Death Star didn't work out. Right now I'm looking at around a $1,000 total loss on my DS stash. Probably my biggest loss ever on a particular lego set. Though you really need to put this sort of thing into perspective. If losing $1,000 breaks the bank for you, you really should not be investing in anything. I think that what makes Lego investing losses so psychologically painful is that most of us see our Lego inventory every day. So a stack of Death Stars just sits there, mocking you, until you sell the sets, as opposed to something like health insurance premiums or property taxes that eat an ever-larger portion of your income each year, but without the daily reminder that you're being fleeced. That said, Lego investing has been throwing up red flags all over the place this year. Lego investing losses are minor in the overall scheme of things, but they're also becoming increasingly common, and that's obviously a bad sign.

The main issue now with freebies is the lift of the discount ban on exclusives. Those freebies were nice to offset the cost of them big boys sets but now I'm not so sure . hopefully some nice discounts on ur regular sets to go along with the offer .

I'm starting to hate the ebay final value fee promos on ebay as every time there is one there is an influx of sets and undercutting, race to the bottom price wise

I think the pain is the work on the backend just to list, pack and ship an item knowing you aren't making a dime for your efforts. It's as if the Queen is raking you back and forth over a hot bed of 10188 coals.

I have no clue about the secondary lego market in Korea. Maybe there is still demand for DS and it is not as hoarded as in Europe. If you want to know. I did not buy and do not plan to buy any set from the money I got for 10188. I keep it apart for a rainy day. Investing in Lego has taught me one thing. If you need the money due to unforseen circumstances. It is very difficult to liquidate when you want. There are too many factors that one is depending on.

I bought a Brick Bounty for $88 (after coupon) at a local toy store. It was the last one, and I'd been eyeing it for a few months. Fine just building if the price doesn't grow.

the online ones... nothing else is worth going in person... but seriously I only went to LEGO stores last year ($66 AT-ATs plus promos). There was nothing else that I saw for in store deals that were not available online, or later in the season.

There's just no point in holding 10188 as it's not going to make money until the new DS goes EOL. Even then gains will be slow and slim I suspect, as it will be competing with the new one on the secondary market. I'll probably keep one for the collection and that's about it. The other three I have, I'll happily sell for €380-€400 cash/collection only. I'll take my measly profit and move on.

At this time of the year, there's a supermarket chain that does 50% off in toys. One pays full price and 50% of the amount paid is credited on the supermarket's client card. I almost didn't went because it opened early and I thought I wouldn't find anything worth my time and waking up early. Guess what? I found 5 Ant-Man sets among other left-over sets! There was a limit on 3 of the same toy so I went home to get my GF client card and when I came back one of the sets was gone. Bought 4! What a lucky find.

I'm always shopping Target due to the "get a $5/$10 GC" deals that seem to be on constantly (also on non-P&G brands like Cottonelle and Viva). This time around it was a little weird - I think they hadn't refreshed their shelf tags yet even though they should as it is Sunday and that's when their prices change in that department. The 8=12 Bounty Towel (select-a-size) was marked as on sale from $12.79 for $9.99 but no GC banner, however, scanned with sale price and $5 GC promo when I checked out. The 30=68 Charmin Strong was $17.89 with a "Buy 3 get $10 GC" tag but rang up as just $17.89. Manager overrode it for me to get $10 off, then applied the $10 free GC after $100 purchase offer. Best of both And yes, we're talking TP. @Exciter1's favorite subject.

First time ever I had someone from this forum (active member, but I won't call him out) say to me after a purchase "hey, aren't you from BP?" Recognized his handle here when he mentioned it, and said I'd have gladly knocked a buck off the $5 minifig he bought had I known - was willing to do a partial refund as well. He basically said "nah, don't sweat it, it was a fair price." Just some cool BP camaraderie, and made for a highlight amongst my last 250 or so eBay transactions.

What happened was, I hide one and brought 4 to the counter. The lady told me I could only take 3 and between getting home and coming back, that one disappeared (I asked 3 different employees, including the lady who enforced the limit but no luck) and the other I hide was there waiting for me.

One of my local independent toy stores (who, when I asked, told me they are one of the US top-ten authorized LEGO resellers) carries this line as well. They have a vast LEGO collection - on par or larger than the B&M LEGO store in town.

We were asked, but we just couldn't agree to a new idea. I know I have mentioned this before, but there is very little money in writing a book. It's sounds cool and it's nice to say that your "are published," but at the end of the day it is like working for minimum wage.
