  4. Today we are announcing the winners of the Brickpicker Minifigure Book Photo Contest. Now that we have two books out there in the wild I can say that it is not easy. Ed has a few months of sleepless nights and or nightmares and I become a stalker looking to get permission to use photos in books or I pretend I am a photographer and take a few thousand photos hoping one is good enough. With that being said, I have to say that the first book was super exciting mostly because it was our first book but the second book was a lot more fun. For one thing, we knew what to expect overall, but it was a lot more fun because we got to deal with and see what type of photos the public came up with. The first time I saw the photo below, I was in tears and laughed for a long time. I loved it. I knew we were in for a fun ride. So many people were helpful, giving and just fun to deal with. That we appreciate more than anything. Some really invested an immense amount of time and that we are humbled by and grateful for. At this time I would like to announce the Grand Prize winner chosen by Ed and myself. The winner is Markos Chouris from Australia. The amount of time he spent taking thousands of photos for us was truly amazing. He contacted me very early on and offered to help take a ton of photos of many of minifigures you see in the price guide part of the books. The sad part is that we unfortunately could not fit all the figures from our original list into the book. A few of Markos' fun shot were also able to make their way into the book as well. Thank you Markos for your help and dedication to helping to make the book great. You are the Grand Prize winner of a $500 gift card to Amazon or LEGO. Below is a list of the other winners that were chosen by the publisher and will split up the remaining $1000 of gift cards. Durand Family (Anna, Geneva, Isaiah, and Josiah Durand): (note: $200 gift card will be given to the four of you, thank you all for your submissions) Heriberto Perez Acebo Fabio Broggi Charles Chang Tony De Marzio Daniel Flanagan Brandon Isensee Stephen O’Mahony Anthony Varos As a special note all participants whether you are in this list or not will receive a copy of the book from the publisher. I know I have a lot of the information from all of your for your photo releases, but if you are reading this, please contact me via PM or email ([email protected]) and type of your address so that I can give to the publisher (some are very hard to read). For the winners above, please let us know whether you want an Amazon or LEGO gift card when you write me. I will also try to reach out to all of you as well to make sure you are aware. All gift cards will be in USD($). Thank you again to all of you and hope that you had a great time taking the photos. Jeff & Ed View full blog article

  8. There's some good news here. Some of those boxes are clearly too small for Pet Shops. I'm thinking they're a combination of Ecto-1's, Pirates Chess sets, and a last shipment of Funhouse Escapes someone found in the janitor's closet.

  9. @Frank Brickowski and @feed ,Ok ok, agree to disagree and let's move on. Just ignore each other's posts. Personally, I don't think either Batman movie will help most Lego Batman sets for the long-term. Lego is just releasing too many Batman sets with refreshed minifigs every year. We'll see. In general, I do think the nicely designed Arkham Asylum Breakout set's already dismal value (compared to MSRP) will drop even more once the new Arkham is released.

  21. Seems like the old method of only VIP points for damaged boxes doesn't apply anymore, my local lego store was doing 15% off, pretty good deal for only some cosmetic damage.

  24. We were asked, but we just couldn't agree to a new idea. I know I have mentioned this before, but there is very little money in writing a book. It's sounds cool and it's nice to say that your "are published," but at the end of the day it is like working for minimum wage.

  28. No... the shipping boxes are smaller cause inside are the PS's with the new, smaller and more efficient boxes. So it is easier to send them to Smyth in the UK for example.

  29. Ok enough, stick with the deals. Too bad we can't get in on any of the deals they have been having over in the UK. Unfortunately it looks like they don't even try to ship to the US anymore.

  31. I've been travelling for work recently and in that time I've had the chance to visit 8 different smyths store across UK. All of them still have EV & PS with an average of 5 on the shelves and all had plenty more in the back. After speaking with the store managers it seems like the only time they really sell the big £150+ sets is during 20% sale and whenever they do vouchers (every couple of weeks). Unless lego update all of the retiring soon sets to retired these both will be around for quite some time. Once the retired tag hits SAH that will start the gradual selling out of these sets. Hardly anyone is touching them at full price. Most of the managers said the they were still selling PS about 2 sets per week. EV 1 per week if lucky.

  32. "Yes. I said get in Thursday and layby what you want . If they didn't give you the 20% off, go back the next day and apply it to your layby." Wooo I didn't know that you can do that as I thought that once you've put your items away for layby the price will be fixed to the initial layby price. I've learnt some new stuff here. Thank's George!

  37. Might be a hit and miss with the delivery from Lego LEGO Shop at Home. I personally get all mine in pristine condition, so am lucky but understand that some of you guys might get it in worse off situation. I guess the condition end up being the delivery guy responsibility or who is the one that pack his van? I reckon you can keep it since it is for a personal build but if it is a gift for others...maybe return it for exchange, explain nicely to cust service that it is a gift would be good.
