  3. I'm passing on this deal. I have suspended my buying for a couple months now unless I have a gift card to burn. 30% off is a great deal, especially to build or if you have a mature portfolio and you are diversifying for the future. If this retires in 2016 this could end up being an even sweeter deal. As time goes on, the discount is less impactful as others have clearly stated. I'm pretty satisfied with my FO TIE fighter but I would like to add this to my collection at some point. Just not today. The TIE fighter is an iconic ship, and like most collectibles, people will want it more when its no longer available. If there is one thing I've learned in my short little time playing this game is that there will always be another deal. Always. Sometimes its better to let the retailer hold your inventory for a couple extra months (or years) versus acting impulsively. Congrats to those with capital and storage to pull the trigger on this deal. I hope they ship quickly and arrive minty fresh.

  5. Added GE to my fledgeling town. Built it over the long weekend. One more building to finish and I will start doing the sidewalks and adding details to the streets.

  8. No, Waiting for a TRU that actually have them in stock. Driving over 25 to 50 to find one and when you get their its gone. I have never seen a TRU in my area, South Florida, with These Exclusives, ever. And to end up with 1. waste of time.

  16. Walmart.com has the UCS Tie Fighter on sale for $139. I'm thinking of picking another one up. http://www.walmart.com/ip/LEGO-Star-Wars-TIE-Fighter/42104274

  17. I tried that for the first time yesterday at the store at Downtown Disney in Orlando. He said they had to stop because people would pretty much throw a set on the ground and ask for a discount. People suck

  21. I have a bunch of shots (from my GS7 Edge, not the big camera) from the Lego American Roadshow, it just departed from being at my local mall for 3 weeks. I also have some lego convention shots that I could share if anyone is interested...we did get the chance to meet Adam Reed Tucker (he was there from noon - 2pm, I got there at 1pm and he was already out of that cool poster....but he signed something else for me...(I mean he designed ALL the most recent architecture sets and said that only the Robie House was left untouched, not a single brick changed by Lego) We were also able to do a little mini build tho, which was kinda cool. That's below along with a couple highlights from the Roadshow.

  22. This probably should not have been a $199 set. It doesn't hold a candle to the Slave 1 at that price point, and I think its sales were cannibalized by the availability of the FOT for ~1/4th the cost. I'm in for at least one at $139, but I'm debating whether or not it's worth TIE'ing up the funds/closet space to buy multiples.

  23. You're right, walking into a TRU, hanging them a coupon and your Rewards CC is a lot of work. Might want to sit down and take a break.

  24. My thoughts are if you are a SW fan, you grab one to build and another to stash . ( obviously u can stash more but that's the min that i would do )

  25. With WM if your credit card bank throws a fraud alert they will cancel all of the subsequent orders. Have to wait a few days for that restriction to clear. Make sure to contact your credit card banks and have them set it up so all wm orders do not flag an alert - will help out in future situations where you need to order alot fast.

  26. Deals are great - don't hesitate to post. I know you have contributed a number of deals, and we appreciate them. That said, sites that provide discounts that directly compete with BrickPicker affiliate links are not promoted, i.e. other sites with affiliate links, "cash back" sites, etc. It is done to keep this site free for all members.

  27. Of course it's a repetitive build. It's a TIE fighter for goodness sake. The set looks awesome built though. Not as impressive as the Slave I, but still impressive enough. At $140, this is a no brainer in my opinion.

  28. anything is possible. i know the tie fighter is iconic and all but it seems to be a slower seller. judging by my visits to physical and online stores. i haven't seen it out of stock once. heck, during the May 4th Slug promo, people weren't buying it. nobody wanted this set. even ed took the last slave 1 out of my 7 year old's hands because he didn't want it. thus, i was forced to buy the Tie to get the promo.

  31. Sometimes I find doing a 'half & half' of building what I can physically then recreating the model digitally or the reverse of building to a point digitally then making it in real life a beneficial (often back & forth) process. While the software does give almost limitless freedom, it cannot display the structural weaknesses that physics in reality can (unless there is a decent physics mod installed I guess). I am and have been more of a "hands on" creator but building via program can help with those trouble spots such as just getting started or figuring the best way to restructure everything without actually taking it apart. I do wish LEGO's idea of brick buckets could reflect their Pick-a-Brick wall concept with having handfuls of useful sizes in a few good colors instead of barely a couple decent bricks in every color of their palette. 1,600 pieces yet only four medium blue 1x4's or three 1x6's in dark gray. The Pick-a-Brick option is the best when hoping to buy in bulk unfortunately the selection offered varies between locations and random chance. Being creative with LEGO is easy; collecting the resources to build is expensive.

  35. Deals like this are always a hard call. The value is definitely strong at the price however i agree with you that this is an inefficient use of resources. The money could be better spent elsewhere. That being said I'm not strong enough to resist not purchasing a couple :|

  36. Wasn't R5 also heavily criticized in its 1st year of availability? Even remembered that it was bundled with the Y-wing and look at it now. I agree that the Tie Fighter might be less than popular than R5 but at $140,,,this is a no brainer for a UCS set.
