  1. I finished the Slave I today. It took me 4 days to build but I build slow. I usually build at night, while watching Netflix and drinking. This thing is amazing, photos never do it any justice. I need to figure out what to build next. I think I am going to bust the seals on my modulars.

  6. This set is a funny one for me. I bought one for $325, complete with manuals about a year ago. Not a ton to be made at my buy in, but I hadn't owned one before so I bought it. I love to build sets, but I don't get too attached to them. Everything is for sale. This is one of about 3 sets that I own, that are not for sale. It's an amazing set all around, and I just can't part with it. If anyone else was wondering what the other two 'not for sale' sets are, they are the UCS R2-D2 and Emerald Express. All of these are at my office on display (no, I'm not a CEO).

  7. Got a used but complete Imperial Flagship for $250 of off CL. I don't think I had seen one before because I was surprised by how big it is. Now the dilemma - sell or keep? It's a really beautiful ship!

  8. Over the weekend, the 4 year old boy built the Joker's Steamroller from 76013. And my 8 year old daughter built the Green Dragon from 41176. The dragon is slated to be hung from her ceiling sometime this week or so.

  9. personally, i think 70751 Temple of Airjitzu owners will do "fine" after retirement. i can't define "fine" at this time but i think / know 1) AFOLs buy cool looking sets, 2) there's a ninjago movie coming out, 3) kids seem to still watch the show, 3) seems a fair amount of people like ninjas, 4) lego has ninjago going back to it's roots after experimenting with some "questionable" story-lines / sets with evil robots, 5) this set could look nice even among non-ninjago sets and 6) the design has international appeal. if history tells us anything, not all popular post-retirement sets were good sellers during retail. for example, the Sea Cow, Town Hall and Grand Carousel sat on shelves or weren't well-received.

  10. Posted June 18, 2013 · Report post I have had a few people E-mail me and tell me they don't believe that I really have alot of Ninjago 2507 and 9450 sets, and think the Epic Battle set is not a good investment. So i figure I would just show what I have. Anybody thinks that the 9450 Epic battle Dragon will not be worth getting as many as you can for a good price My advice get as many as you can afford from now to Christmas, There have only been 2 big sets with Ninjago, and hopefully with the new 2014 sets there will be one more. Look at the 2507 Fire Temple Set, $91.00 Black Friday Sale last year, and the price is close to $175-200 on ebay will be more aroundChristmas, now anybody buying the 9450 Epic Battle would suggest holding on to them, don't panic around Christmas and sell them, you will be sorry wait til 2014 & 2015. So I have 44 Epic Dragon Battle, and 31 Fire Temple sets. Ed I was pretty sure you had gone all in on Epic Dragon Battle too.

  11. I know the front page didn't love it, but I really enjoyed building this set. The minifigs are spectacular. The Blackbird has a more old-school feel to it as you can actually fit everybody inside it. Love the sentinel, but like Groot, another 50 pieces probably would have made him a showstopper.

  25. Today was my first time asking about damaged boxes. I feel like such a noob but I rarely buy in-store. Temple of Airjitsu .. 10% off for damaged box (two teenie dings on the back) and the extra 500 VIP points The store employee didn't think the 10% off would stack with the additional VIP points but offered to try. His reasoning was that since they input an override on damaged box sets, other promos don't usually apply. But the Temple was not on his "master list" of damaged sets and once he saw that he said I bet both will apply. It was clearly in the damaged pile out back but they only had one. There were out of Classic Knights promos (they ran out yesterday morning) so he offered me a Fountain instead which I thought was nice. For the curious, they had dozens and dozens of the new Beetles and new Ecto 1&2 sets nicely stacked with "do not put out before X" labels) above and beside the damaged boxed sets. I got to step inside the employee door to view the damaged boxes. It was quite the mish-mash of sets but they must have had 2 dozen of the name that figure set.

  29. I agree. It's a very nice set. I don't own any Ninjago but this set has always been on my trigger list. I like the whole Japanese feel to it. With 35 dollars back and the freebie I'm ok with the purchase. This will be a display piece..idk where yet. I think I have a sickness and it spreads. First I was only SW then SW/marvel then SW/marvel/creator (UK sets)

  30. I buy sets I like, regardless of theme. If you stick to completing themes you will end up with sets you don't like and those are the ones that are wasting space. The only situation when I acquire sets I would not buy based on their own merits is when it fits into some of my planned displays. Those are an extended Haunted House and the modulars. So some City sets with useful parts/vehicles and monster themed sets can end up in my collection. Otherwise it is a hodgepodge collection, with a particular fetish for sets with high piece count.

  33. Daughter needed some new shoes and I needed to check out a Target that is out of my normal range, so went with my wifey. Didn't get any of the clearance, had the same clearance that I've seen all through FL and into Alabama. Did pick up 11 of my fav poly bags and 2 extras for prudence. But no shoes, so my wife wanted to try tj Maxx and marshals, to my Chagrin. Interesting, I found the 70228 sky scavenger for $24.99. I already stocked up on a few of these from Target so I passed. but I didn't realize it was a decent price because the sticker said original price was $29.99. Still no shoes, so we decided to stop by some second hand kids stores. We went to the chain one first "once upon a child" and I found a star wars 2012 Advent Calendar pack. With 2 green base plates for $12.99! Still no shoes, so we went to a smaller, family owned shop and I picked up a technic helicopter 8046 $10 Chima 70141 $10 Chima 70127 $3.75 All are sealed boxes in descent condition. Though I'll part out the Chima. And finally, as a consolation prize I got to go to TRU while my wife tried another Marshals on the way home. There I used a 20% off coupon and some reward bucks to score a Dr. Who for $33 and a free Skeleton Warrior. It was a nice shopping day with the wifey. We'll try again when Target does a second clearance on the Legos.

  35. Kids built Bionicle Kopaku and Melum Unity set (my son) and Friends Hot Air Balloon (my daughter). I built Ecto-1 (21108). That car is a great build. Very happy. My son immediately used Melum's "function" to make him hide his face in his hands accompanied by baby-talk "Where is Icey? Where is Icey? THERE is Icey!". Cracked me up (he's 10 and quite the comedian). Also discovered that one of the toughest brick combinations to take apart is a 1x1 plate on top of a 1x1 round plate (Especially a clear one, which has different plastic). Tried fingers, brick separator, pliers, teeth (yeah, made me feel 30 years younger) and finally scissors to get those separated. Stupid instructions printed on black background - you can't distinguish chrome silver from clear transparent.....

  37. Built the corner deli a couple weeks ago. My boy slapped it on his very rough start of a city. Yesterday he turned 6 and he built the High Speed Passenger Train all by himself. I made sure the connections were solid but he did it all...I shot it yesterday and although he MOC'd a few things in the station area and the top of the train, it looks great. Runs well and I can't believe how solid this train feels.

  39. Pretty easy sequence to predict here people. Both for Cindy and Death Star. 1. Image leaks. 2. "Meh, not impressed, where has Lego's creativity gone?" 3. "Guaranteed investment winner" - Ed Mack 4. "Well, the previous version [is/isn't] selling well in [Europe/US], so don't think your market can predict the [US/Europe] market on this set!" 5. OrcKing posts high-res official thread pics minutes after they are available. 6. "You know, looking at this again, I like those two greebles, and look, two new unique parts in [seafoam blue/dark-light-gray-bley]" 7. Goes on sale on Lego.com with a Nexo Knights promo cycle or chopper. 8. "In for 3" - Exciter. 9. "This is my first Lego investment, was it good that I bought 20 of these already??" - user with reg date of x-1 week from posting date. ... .. ... 10. Profit! :-)

  40. My son's new favorite toy - 71303 Ikir Creature of Fire. What a great Bionicle! It has claws that can solidly grip on something, so it has been sitting on top of the TV when we're watching a movie, on his arm when he's walking around the house, on a chair when we're having dinner etc. When you move his tail feathers up and down, the wings flap. Very well done. And percentage-of-MSRP-wise this is about the most expensive Bionicle he has, only got it at 31% off, but with an MSRP of $9.99 this is not a bad set for pocket money at all. Kids are very much into Harry Potter at the moment, and Ikir works very well as Fawkes the Phoenix ....
