  8. Definitely my favorite build so far in 2016. My 7 year old son and I built a couple bags a day for about a week. Looks fantastic in the display cabinet + a lot of quality time with my little guy which is priceless. I don't have any for investment purposes, but the current promo(s) tempt me to grab one for a rainy day. Doesn't appear overly hoarded + it's super unique.

  9. Lego store $50 plus 10% IL tax. NEXO sold for $15 and shipping, castle knight sold for $20, also got 5% VIP back. with castle promo and my NEXO coupons I'll be buying plenty of $50 sets in next couple days... Plus Ferris wheel few days ago, I really like this set and personally think it will be an investing winner...

  13. You can interpret that as either they are producing less SOH and running down stock or the horde have made up their minds that SOH is retiring next and buying the set hand over fist, hence its OOS status. There was a time where one of the sets would have just sold out. These days however I think Lego milk the late surge of interest in sets, Pet Shop, EWOK Village. I'm sure SOH or Tower Bridge will be no different, kicking around for longer than expected. Even retailers are taking advantage, Smyths clearly saw an opportunity in the Tumblers retirement, buying up huge amounts of stock so they could push them all out long after everyone else had sold theirs. I expect this is behaviour we may end up seeing a lot more of now as retailers adapt buying and selling techniques to take advantage of the late surge of money for retiring sets.

  14. was in my local walmart, and noticed all the force awakens sets were reduced at least by 30%. 119 MF's, 64.00 Poe's X-wings, 55.00 Resistance Transporter, Mazy's Castle was 47, 15.00 Rey Speeders, 55.00 FO Ties, and after I cleared out the FO Transporter at 40 something a few months back, they had a new case sitting there at 71. Signs on the wall. These are all gone by christmas, IMO.

  15. You need to refer to the sales and use tax laws of the state in which you reside. The fact that you haven't set up a formal legal entity through which to make your sales doesn't matter at all. Up until this year, I have done all of my sales as a sole proprietor and have been collecting sales tax for several years.

  20. Investing in LEGO sets is the best idea around. Either the sets increase by huge multiples in 6 months after retirement, or you just unload the whole lot to a BPer for what you paid. You can't lose.

  24. Finally gave my 6 year old the last of the figures he needed to complete his set...then built the stand out of a few random pcs from a recent bulk purchase. Also built changing seasons which I will photograph and share at some point soon.

  25. Speaking of slow selling, you have to wonder why The Tumbler lasted only two years when other major exclusives last longer than that. Slow seller? Too costly? With the current market conditions, The Tumbler will be the IT set that everyone wish they had more of.

  26. @alpinemaps thanks for the pics, these are really helpful. It turned out that the 5th plate was stuck to one of the others. I decided to go for it, but the odd thing I noticed was that the two blue 2x4 smooth tiles were attached to one of the blue plates. I checked the bags but they all looked sealed? I'll have to inspect the bags a little closer to see if they were re-sealed...

  40. Finished building my $16 Town Hall from last year. Was an Amazon return and had been built before. Took a some time building but came out good. The top right is missing a piece as I just dropped it. Fell on a shelf and couldn't find it. Deal with it later.

  42. Jumping on the 75094 bandwagon I finished mine today. Sorry for the cheapo stand but I will make something out of either clear or blue, to mach the engines, translucents. I agree with PP a lot of technic that IMO does not make this a $100 set. The cockpit was a nice build and as stated so is the top fin. The wings seem like an after thought then the ones on the $60 75051 Jedi Scout are far superior. If this is a play set I could not see spending that much perhaps if you can pick it up at TRUT in the low 60s. Guess I am still going to have to pop the seals on my 10212 Tha

  43. 31039 Creator Blue Power Jet. This was a brilliant building experience. The little details, like using the 1x1 slopes to make the seats are clever. But the wings are ingenious. A hinge is used to connect the two main pieces together which are then filled in with angled plates. Love it, highly recommended. I think this set will be a winner.

  44. So, built this one last night. Box was in good condition considering the age, if a bit musty. Instructions were also in good. In the box also had two Expert Builder (Technic) posters/catalogues (in perfect shape), missing piece/feedback card and a 1982 (I think) Lego catalogue, also in great shape. The model itself? The pieces look almost new. The minifigs are immaculate- no "Bennied" broken helmet straps, no faded Classic Space logos. Baseplate is also immaculate. However, missing one white minifig and 4-5 other pieces, even though it was advertised as complete. But, it is a beauty. I'll have to take a comparison photo with Benny's Spaceship Spaceship SPACESHIP to show both the scale and just how bloody good an hommage the latter set is to these lovely old sets.

  45. Yesterday I built the 21004 Solomon Guggenheim Museum that I picked up for $25us. It's a very pretty build but it suffers the same fate as sets like Rockefeller Center, Sydney Opera House, and Brandenburg Gate and that is that the smaller horizontal builds LOOK small. Sungnyemun only suffers from this a little but Sydney Opera House is just ugly to look at. I really liked the method to "weight" the large radar dishes. Today, I built the 21020 Trevi Fountain. What I said above for horizontal builds doesn't apply to larger ones as 'Trevi' is beautiful! It reminded me of when I visited Rome and it was a LOT of fun to build, even the usually tedious parts, and you see it nicely build itself up starting with the fountain. The techniques used for the columns and facade are pretty clever and look brilliant. My only quibble is that I don't really like the rocks as they look clumsy and the sculptures are too large but it is my personal favourite of the architecture line to date. It just looks sharp.
