It was a $90 set and has been avail at <$45 for many months. There's 200+ sellers on Amazon now, and I bet a lot of folks who snagged these at $30 at Target/Walmart. Would you LOSE money at $40 on this, no, probably not - but I expect it will take a very long time to get to even break-even. Compare it to the Mechdragon which saw similar pricing and availability, and it's been retired over a year and is still avail for $65 on Amazon. May take another year to get close to MSRP. So, if you want it as a build/gift, $41 for a $90 lego set is solid. If you want it for investment, I'd stay far far far away until the price gets to $30. And even then I'd be hesitant. Many Wave 1 Chima sets (retired approaching 2 years) are just now seeing their prices creep to MSRP, and only a few of the sets out of the line have shown gains at all. I'd strongly encourage you to put your investing dollars elsewhere. Really, that goes for the whole Chima line. Unless you're buying in at 66% off or more, I'd avoid.5 points

Since you asked... listen carefully at 0:53. Yep... can't remember three things from a grocery list, but I can remember hearing about a new lego part in a designer video!3 points

My family had both the van & beetle for most of my life growing up, and I can quite easily say this is beyond beautiful well as incredibly accurate to the car while surprisingly still LEGO. Although the 2008 model might be considered a collector's item, to be honest that one was a poor model looking like somebody took a sandblaster to it. Anywho, only thing that could make this new one better would be a "Herbie" makeover.3 points

demand for this set seems inexhaustible. sold 8 in the last 4 days for $99.99 + $4.99 shipping each FBA.. still have 9 left. how high can this go - 150-200? 1 million dollars? infinity + 1? love sets like this that are made of money but sad to see my supply dwindle down. cue newbie77's "final uptick" comment. what will this years Raptor Escape be? it's out there right now sitting on the shelves.2 points

The good news about real Chima is it's always discounted so heavily that China Chima can't compete. That is of course also the bad news about Chima.2 points

Why the hate on narcissists indulging in their own narcissism ?? (say that 10 times fast ) IIRC Disney had banned those sticks from all of its theme parks2 points

20% off everything - I don't think it will happen while these coupons are floating around until the end of July.2 points

Lots of people part train sets, so if you know what extra track you need, bricklink maybe be a better bet.2 points
-
Best I've got is when Kmart.com has them slightly reduced, and then buy in bulk (i.e.4 or more boxes) to get SYWR savings via a coupon etc. For straight track you might be better off going to BL or EBay and buy just straight track pieces, because the flex track is rubbish and you end up putting those pieces in a big bin anyways. Should cost you between $2 and $4 per straight track piece.2 points

First trip, took 5 kids age 12 to baby to CA legoland. Did 5 day pass so got to see all.the stores multiple times FO star destroyer and kylo ren polybags in the big store and large one in back of park. There were disney minifigs and series 8 mixels by the truckload in every shop. Parrot polys and friends bowling in appropriate stores. Also the elf poly with girl on flying thing in appropriate stores. Avenger minifigure wall holder only in the minifigure store right when you enter, and it was sold out some days. The guess a Minifig game thing was everywhere. EV missing from big store and PR and DO only modulars they had when I was there, take that for what it's worth. Overall had a good time, glad we want while kids still young, they might not have liked it as much even in another year. I also was a good dad and brought a bag of around 70 old and lame minifigures (30+ of an Eros Chima guy with no helmet) for trading. Kids could trade like a boss by the time we left, their highlights were a few old astromechs, about 7 total friends, I found a Santa vader that had a stormtrooper helmet and a few more gems. Overall much much better minifigures than we left with.2 points

Same story as the tumbler, people trying to buy and flip to make a pound!! One already on eBay for £220 or best offer!! How is there any money in that deal!? My advice, if you have one, just enjoy building this beautiful set as opposed to flipping it!!2 points

That Chima Ice Stomper looks tempting its $40.89 now. Any thoughts on this? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00J4S6Y8G/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER1 point

Can't wait to see the modifications people are going to make. I'm sure we'll get some different colors. I already want it two-tone. I also want to see it turned into Herbie. And yes, I know some of you hate Herbie, but oh well. Old school Disney fan, so I want to see Herbie.1 point

Jeez man... I think there's potential for quick flipping if that's what you're asking. It will probably be TOS soon. I don't think you should get 11, but hey don't let me stop you...1 point

eew debit card, rather have the 21 days of daily interest while the cash sits in a hi savings account + consumer protection + insurance/warranty + 1% cash back on the fee free visa rewards card or even the 1/2% on the MC vs nothing with debit card. on another note, recently noticed Costco carries coffins & urns... wonder if they come in multi packs like most things in there ;-)1 point
-
The only loser on this one is Visa. If you look at Costco who exclusively use one card processor + interact and they are not losing business out of it. I just simply use my debit card at Costco and I will be doing the same in Walmart. It is not stopping me from my clearance hunt! Now the question is... what about Walmart.ca will they still accept Visa?1 point

OMG... I just got my Sears gift cards from SVM. I never bought from them before. You need to warn people: It arrives in a basic, cheap, thin envelope with return address "From: AWARDS HEADQUARTERS" ... or something like that. I would have bet $100 it was just some junk mail telling me I had "won" a 3 night cruise in the Bahamas. It almost went straight in the trash. Do they maybe make more money if people don't use the gift cards they sell?1 point

Actually they use some algorithms to balance the SKUs with the piece counts to optimize the production costs. For example, lets say that the build requires 1x2's in other places. But in the whole model, it only needs a 1x4 once. It's cheaper for them to change the 1x4 to 2 1x2's because they then have one less different inventory piece to include (one less tub of parts feeding into the packing machines, one less chance of a machine error, etc.). The packing is all automated, but when you are boxing 20 million sets a year, those fractional savings add up.1 point

I for one don't think a new box design will help resale value of any kit including Pet Shop. Do you build with a box? Have you ever seen anyone display the kit box either sealed or opened? Well of course I mean, outside of the people here who are resellers and boastfully display sealed kit boxes for future resale. I've never seen any builder display an opened kit box. I think the reason The Lego Group redesigns large scale Creator kit boxes is because the new redesigns are smaller in dimension. It saves shelf space and transposition costs.1 point

If The Great Lego Depression happens, I'll be buying Pet Shops at or below 75% retail. Let the panic begin!1 point
