Been on a conference call 12+ hours today, so I decided to get started on 10212.

Built yesterday. Pretty nice movement with the bin raising/dumping out/lowering, the bed goes up and down as well and the door to unload also opens/closes. Not bad for a decent price last week (and my big guy loves it, hasn't put it down since it was completed)

My boy built the MTT yesterday. We had to put our beloved husky down on friday, and he was very upset, so I went into my "investment stash" and pulled out an MTT to help ease his mind a bit as he grieved. He whipped it together in a few hours. Not bad for a soon to be 6 year old.

They would! My parents home burned down and anything we had pictures of or recovered damaged, they were paid. My Dad had an extensive gun collection and received at or above current appraised values. I'm a little disappointed I won't have those guns to carry down to my kids, but I'm glad he was paid.

Count me as one(and I'm pretty tough on new sets) who actually sees legit value in this set for the carnival layout theme from CREATOR. Sure, those that like their layouts to be all from one theme will poo-poo at the idea of mixing a FRIENDS coaster with CREATOR carnival rides....BUT, this coaster is, more or less, a version of The Sooper Jet; a popular traveling roller coaster (in the U.S. at least) for young children. Think about it people. A carnival is different than an amusement park in that they actually need to take down the rides to move them. A giant rollercoaster doesn't afford that luxury. They've showcased that with Mixer. This FRIENDS coaster is perfect for that. Mod out a loading area with pieces, maybe make the Ferris Wheel smaller (to make it a little kids wheel), keep the other little ride and the booths and add a couple of Carnie trucks (ala the Mixer) and you have the perfect "little kids" area for your carnival.

I sorted and cleaned and then resorted a bit before I started.

Posted a couple months back, this was my first real MOC I put together and ordered from scratch. Total cost came to around $500 CAD. But it's one of a kind and I'm very happy with that! Borrowed a friend's DLSR to take some proper "artistic" shots.

Painful to follow up those beautiful shots with these horrible iPhone ones... I'll post this up in the BP MOCs thread when it's completed, but I spent most of Friday sorting bricks I'd already ordered, disassembling (and sorting) a Brick Bounty, and cracking open and parting out a second Brick Bounty. My total build is still missing about 90 parts I need to order, but I had enough bulk to get started. My goal is to have a customized Pirate operated ship to pair with my Imperial Flagship. Many weeks spent in LDD fine tuning the model, with lots of inspiration drawn from the original Flagship, but many of the parts borrowed from the Brick Bounty. Many more were purchased. Total count of 1968 pieces. Here was the first portion of my progress yesterday! (It won't let me add more pics so I'll have to add the rest later on.)

Eventually, all of the disdain for Superheroes will translate into lower aftermarket supply and good earnings. Today, I fear, is not that day.

I want to like the Sinestro deal, but with the recent... Underwhelming performance of Super Hero sets, it's hard to want to buy in at anything more than 50% off.

We, built it and it's terribly small. I actually added on to the containment cage to make it significant enough to hold the raptors. I can see why parents would be upset when it took their kids a 1/2 hour to build it. You are basically buying the exclusive raptors.

Sorting the pieces detracts from the adventure but it's a lot better than a conference call.

I've sold through a bunch of them at various price points since last Fall and I still have some listed, but I have some set aside for long-term too. I did order max 5 on this set at S@H more than once and got lucky.

67% RRP means a 33% discount. It's better than I've ever seen it sold for here in The Netherlands. Currently Amazon Germany is selling it for ~ €116 which is about 28% discount on an RRP of €160. So 33% discount is already cheaper than what I paid for the 75105 last year when I bought one for myself (€121, or 24% discount). Oh well, c'est la vie. At the time I thought it was a really good deal, but I had just started with LEGO investing that time. What did I know about prices and how much discount is possible when you're patient? And that's where the experience of long-time Lego investors comes into play: knowing what discounts are feasable and when is the best time to strike. Ultimately it's the gamble when you see a discount: is this the best deal I'll ever have on it, or will it get even more discounted? And if you wait too long you may not get that deal any longer and you'll finally have to buy at a higher price. I'm sure every LEGO investor here has bought sets when they thought the discount wouldn't get any deeper, and then they saw the same set at an even higher discount a while later. Keep in mind that people love to show off and tell here about the awesome deal they scored, but will rather keep quiet about the mistakes they made. Returning to your question: should you purchase 75105 now at 67% RRP, is something you have to decide for yourself. Other Brickpickers here won't buy non-exclusives at less than 40% discount, but that's their choice/strategy. This set will not retire any time soon, but if you don't mind holding it for a few more years knowing you got it at a decent discount, then it may be worth it for you.

It's been sitting semi-built for a few weeks. Built one of the expensive $74 WM clearance ones I tossed a couple finished build shots over the one and only astrophotography shot I have. Fun build and looks great on display.

Purchased this awesome book earlier, and as a bonus it included this Micro-scale Space Cruiser which my son could build!

But it is in place to counter the deceptive listings (e.g., $1 item and $25 shipping). When those type of "deals" were rampant, sellers didn't pay commission on shipping, IIRC. If I'm paying 10% on everything now, why not roll shipping cost into the total price and list as "Free shipping?" Customers like to see the word "free."

I meant better for Amazon, none of it is better for sellers. 2, and 3 are correct, but I am not convinced about 1 though. Auctions will unquestionably get a lower price (unless a seller is so unsure of the correct value, that they would have sold their Sealed Cloud City for $50). Holidays, while certainly high in sales isn't the best time for high prices on collectible LEGO. Flippers might be thrilled, but for non-flippers - not so much. I think choosing between Ebay & Amazon is more questionable. A year or two back, switching to Amazon made a lot of sense (since there were less sellers on the marketplace). Nowadays, that isn't so much the case (and it is getting worse). While neither one of them is really on your side, I still have a harder time trusting Amazon (and giving up what little control we might have as sellers).

I think Amazon's rate hike is aimed at two things: 1) to help pay for expanded warehouse/logistics as stated in their message to sellers 2) to help discourage "parking" inventory in their warehouses Re #2, I don't understand why anyone would send an item to a FC and leave it with a price that lands them on page 10 of the listings. But then again, I'm only small potatoes and don't understand a whole lot.

Tonight I finished the GB Headquarters, and I have to say what a fantastic set and great build, definitely one of my favourites!! Yes the walls can get a bit repetitive, sometimes the roof has got a tendency to pop up at the ends, and the fact the chairs in the kitchen aren't secured can be a little frustrating when moving the set (which I'll mod) but in the grand scheme of things this all becomes irrelevant because this set has it all. For any GB fan, they will appreciate that no detail has been overlooked, it captures so much from the films to the extent I even put my Jackie Wilson CD on and was expecting the toaster to start dancing on the pool table, but no cigar!!!

If it was anything other than Lego I would agree. As this thread proves "if they add this I'm in or make this happen" at the rate their going they will have almost any relevant movie or show from early 80s to present. That's almost 4 decades of stuff to release. I had a friend at work who doesn't own a single Lego but saw BTTF and bought the level pack and game JUST for that. If they release stuff he likes in the future I'm sure he will buy it. I think you are underestimating how much people love Lego. You don't have to be on this forum or be an AFOL to buy it. Lego mixed with big IPs will be a big success. Since Lego is not publicly traded I can't tell you the numbers but when others are pumping the breaks or exiting the vehicle...Lego is flooring it! By default less competition more $. With Disney out I see Lego shooting up. What competition does Lego have now? Sky landers? I assume the majority of people buying that is parents for their kids between 5-12. I'll use myself as an example! I haven't played many games as I've gotten older but about 6 months ago I decided to give dimensions a try (something for me and my girlfriend to play together...she's no gamer lol) we both enjoyed it and I now own EVERY character released to date. I'm just one person lol... If anyone can add fuel to toys2life it's Lego. The ability to have characters from your childhood mixed with new stuff all on one game...who else/what else is doing this??? Once again I'm sure I'm in the minority but I believe this will be a big success and will add new people to the "Lego world" that may have not entered it without dimensions..... (potential new buyers of our hoarded retired sets lol)

Thanks! The total cost was about $150, including power functions and shipping. It cost a bit more for me because I experimented with stickers from eBay and other options for the logos. I found the waterslide decals to be the best. So, I paid a little bit more and supported my local hobby shop by buying the decals there.

Two sets recently...Eiffel Tower and the Disney Characters. And yes, the star destroyer is attacking the Disney characters!

21017 Imperial Hotel "Fun build" is not usually associated with the architecture line but the Imperial Hotel build was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and not too repetitive. I would have liked more architect information in the manual because I do not know as much about this set as I do for the other architecture sets.
