Been on a conference call 12+ hours today, so I decided to get started on 10212.

Built yesterday. Pretty nice movement with the bin raising/dumping out/lowering, the bed goes up and down as well and the door to unload also opens/closes. Not bad for a decent price last week (and my big guy loves it, hasn't put it down since it was completed)

My boy built the MTT yesterday. We had to put our beloved husky down on friday, and he was very upset, so I went into my "investment stash" and pulled out an MTT to help ease his mind a bit as he grieved. He whipped it together in a few hours. Not bad for a soon to be 6 year old.

They would! My parents home burned down and anything we had pictures of or recovered damaged, they were paid. My Dad had an extensive gun collection and received at or above current appraised values. I'm a little disappointed I won't have those guns to carry down to my kids, but I'm glad he was paid.

Count me as one(and I'm pretty tough on new sets) who actually sees legit value in this set for the carnival layout theme from CREATOR. Sure, those that like their layouts to be all from one theme will poo-poo at the idea of mixing a FRIENDS coaster with CREATOR carnival rides....BUT, this coaster is, more or less, a version of The Sooper Jet; a popular traveling roller coaster (in the U.S. at least) for young children. Think about it people. A carnival is different than an amusement park in that they actually need to take down the rides to move them. A giant rollercoaster doesn't afford that luxury. They've showcased that with Mixer. This FRIENDS coaster is perfect for that. Mod out a loading area with pieces, maybe make the Ferris Wheel smaller (to make it a little kids wheel), keep the other little ride and the booths and add a couple of Carnie trucks (ala the Mixer) and you have the perfect "little kids" area for your carnival.

I sorted and cleaned and then resorted a bit before I started.

Posted a couple months back, this was my first real MOC I put together and ordered from scratch. Total cost came to around $500 CAD. But it's one of a kind and I'm very happy with that! Borrowed a friend's DLSR to take some proper "artistic" shots.

Painful to follow up those beautiful shots with these horrible iPhone ones... I'll post this up in the BP MOCs thread when it's completed, but I spent most of Friday sorting bricks I'd already ordered, disassembling (and sorting) a Brick Bounty, and cracking open and parting out a second Brick Bounty. My total build is still missing about 90 parts I need to order, but I had enough bulk to get started. My goal is to have a customized Pirate operated ship to pair with my Imperial Flagship. Many weeks spent in LDD fine tuning the model, with lots of inspiration drawn from the original Flagship, but many of the parts borrowed from the Brick Bounty. Many more were purchased. Total count of 1968 pieces. Here was the first portion of my progress yesterday! (It won't let me add more pics so I'll have to add the rest later on.)

Eventually, all of the disdain for Superheroes will translate into lower aftermarket supply and good earnings. Today, I fear, is not that day.

I want to like the Sinestro deal, but with the recent... Underwhelming performance of Super Hero sets, it's hard to want to buy in at anything more than 50% off.

We, built it and it's terribly small. I actually added on to the containment cage to make it significant enough to hold the raptors. I can see why parents would be upset when it took their kids a 1/2 hour to build it. You are basically buying the exclusive raptors.

Sorting the pieces detracts from the adventure but it's a lot better than a conference call.

I've sold through a bunch of them at various price points since last Fall and I still have some listed, but I have some set aside for long-term too. I did order max 5 on this set at S@H more than once and got lucky.

67% RRP means a 33% discount. It's better than I've ever seen it sold for here in The Netherlands. Currently Amazon Germany is selling it for ~ €116 which is about 28% discount on an RRP of €160. So 33% discount is already cheaper than what I paid for the 75105 last year when I bought one for myself (€121, or 24% discount). Oh well, c'est la vie. At the time I thought it was a really good deal, but I had just started with LEGO investing that time. What did I know about prices and how much discount is possible when you're patient? And that's where the experience of long-time Lego investors comes into play: knowing what discounts are feasable and when is the best time to strike. Ultimately it's the gamble when you see a discount: is this the best deal I'll ever have on it, or will it get even more discounted? And if you wait too long you may not get that deal any longer and you'll finally have to buy at a higher price. I'm sure every LEGO investor here has bought sets when they thought the discount wouldn't get any deeper, and then they saw the same set at an even higher discount a while later. Keep in mind that people love to show off and tell here about the awesome deal they scored, but will rather keep quiet about the mistakes they made. Returning to your question: should you purchase 75105 now at 67% RRP, is something you have to decide for yourself. Other Brickpickers here won't buy non-exclusives at less than 40% discount, but that's their choice/strategy. This set will not retire any time soon, but if you don't mind holding it for a few more years knowing you got it at a decent discount, then it may be worth it for you.

It's been sitting semi-built for a few weeks. Built one of the expensive $74 WM clearance ones I tossed a couple finished build shots over the one and only astrophotography shot I have. Fun build and looks great on display.

My son got named as a "top reader" in his second grade class, so he got a couple little rewards to build today... oh... and dad got a couple things, too...

Purchased this awesome book earlier, and as a bonus it included this Micro-scale Space Cruiser which my son could build!

Amen to that. Get a safe-deposit box at the local bank for a few bucks per month, and stuff pictures of your collection (and any other valuables) in there (on a flashdrive). That said, I am horribly behind on making pictures of my own collection (and of my wife's designer furniture )

Remember that over here, Ebay don´t charge commissions on shipping (yet). I understand that is no longer the case in the US.

We finished 75102 Poe's X-wing a couple of days ago, our first X-wing to build. My son loves it because it has 6 different things that shoot. It was a pretty fun build, but I still don't think we are going to rush out and buy the Resistance X-Wing as well. The kids are working on the Phantom while I am at work today.

Took the instructions from the Maersk train #10219 and Bricklink'd all in black, bought some waterslide decals from a local hobby shop and then modified it a bit to be a Norfolk Southern locomotive in our little city. Nothing special, but we added power functions and it runs great.

Built this a few weeks ago, just haven't shot it yet...It's got a cool elevator lift on the right hand side, the stairs move up and down, Hans in Carbonite can be maneuvered from facing out and in an upright position to lowered down in more of a flat position. I really like the one with Boba carrying Hans without any support. However, irl, there was support, but it got removed digitally I also stacked 3 images in PS to create a depth of field that showed all 3 figures in focus on the last frame. That was fun too.

My son has been working on a spaceship of his own creation for a couple days. I think he's done a great job. It even has a little escape pod. Looks kind of like the spaceships I made when I was a kid. First and second pics are yesterday, then he added a bunch more on today in the third pic.

Kids' bday today - Got executive permission to build something too, so we built: 41122 Adventure Camp Treehouse (still unfinished), 30398 Adventure Bridge (both my daughter's projects), 75102 Poe's X-Wing (my son) and 21303 Wall-E (me, yay!). My son, ever the charmer, wanted to give his sister a present too so he bought the Rey constractible from me that I got during the May the 4th sale at LEGO.com for $6.50 (no, I did not upcharge ). She built it immediately (Rey is her favorite SW character). Here's our breakfast nook during these festivities:

Thought I would test out the new GS7 Edge camera capabilities today and built a little stand to shoot this on for a min. I think the camera takes some pretty detailed shots for a phone. Figured a little ship could use a little company.

Got the attachment feature to work this time. Pics of the Mini and VW.

Finally far enough with cleaning my childhood collection to try piecing a few smaller space sets together. Next up, castle-building!

Built this over the last week. Only my second Technic build so far. I really do enjoy how well the gears, chains and different linking elements work in congruence with one another. Although the builds aren't quite as enjoyable as standard sets the end results are really intriguing. (Street Motorcycle 42036) I opted for the Retro Bike build and there are ample pcs left over but it still looks bad a$$.
