  2. My six year old star wars nut just built this. Its his take on Cloud City. He's got the carbon freezing chamber, some controls, the window for Luke to crash through, and the yellow thing is the antenna fixture that Luke hangs from after his fall down the shaft. I'm going to have to leave my comfort zone of instructions and moc something with him one day...

  13. Eurobricks forum member Just2Good has revealed that there will be a surprise addition to the summer LEGO Star Wars line up in the form of a Rebel Combat Frigate (set 75158). Supposedly it is based on the animated Rebels series and will include an Ahsoka Tano minifig.

  21. Due to a collar bone fracture (bike crash a week ago) I have had some time to watch movies. I watched The Dark Knight and once again I felt this movie is special. Fantastic actors, Heath was amazing, and when the Tumbler kicked in my smile became even bigger. Despite the set is massively hoarded I feel blessed with my 5 sets. Long term wait. And till that time, I will definitely watch The Dark Knight again; "let's put a smile on that face" . As surgery will take place next Thursday I have some Marvel movies scheduled to watch during the recovery period. That might be the stairway to my first S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier.

  29. there are multiple bump codes for the same character and sometimes the imprint of the bump is not so strong. i wouldn't rely on the dots or bumps. especially when these are super easy to smoosh. Donald - gotta feel for the cleft along the smooth top surface of the hat. stubby tail for the win. Peter Pan - pinch for the plastic knives/swords which are joined together in the package. feels like a thin plastic V. nothing else has those - can be hard to find if they are stuck in the paper insert so you might have to shake the bag a little to get it to settle. once you feel the 2 swords attached feel for the pointy conical head with the hair curl on the edge to confirm.

  34. While box damage is definitely disappointing, you would think what's ultimately important is that the bags inside are all accounted for and unopened. They don't seem to care to look that far into the completeness. This isn't helpful for this time around, but I noticed all the sets are stock photos. Taking pictures of the actual set for listing and proof would most likely prevent this in future sales.

  36. Part of the message is omitted but it sounds like they haven´t opened it so maybe better to arrange a return (organise it yourself with a company you trust). I´d ask them to confirm in writing that they have not opened the seals and that they are intact then proceed with a return and refund on arrival. Ask for pics of how it arrived and seals so as to evaluate any damage before proceeding as if damage is light, a partial refund is a smarter option than a return at your cost (buyer will know that too) If you don´t accept the return and feel you are going to get played, empty out your paypal account immediately and remove any linked credit card or bank account then contact ebay. The buyer has plenty of feedback - what does sellers say about past transactions and what do they say about past purchases?

  38. I think you're walking too deep into the weeds, Jeff. You're arguing sub-points on sub-points without everybody understanding your broader position. Let me try to sum up your stance: OT was great all-around cinema. PT was conceptually great but poorly executed. TFA was conceptually un-original (but in my own words: pretty well executed). Most look at it from a cinematic perspective so OT > TFA >>>> PT. But you appreciate that Lucas aimed for Mars (despite his rocket exploding before it even left the atmosphere) whereas it disappointed you that Disney was content to return to the moon, so OT > PT > TFA. It's not an outrageous position like people are suggesting. Had Lucas been able to recruit other directors successfully (he tried) then I do think that the PT (same outline and all) could've been awesome (and better than TFA) for the reasons you've outlined.

  39. One of the things I and many others love about the PT is that a central theme of the trilogy is about how good men lose their way and even turn evil. It's not just about Anakin doing this. It's about the Jedi Council failing to stick to its principles and becoming soldiers rather than peacekeepers, democracy being subverted for authoritarian purposes aided and abetted by business etc. I have friends who are teachers who have used these movies as starting points for civics discussions in class with kids who grew up with these movies and for whom the PT IS Star Wars and for whom the OT is not nearly as cool and is very slow. The politics is not a sideshow, it's part of the entire point of the story. This is what I mean about how the PT is more ambitious in scope and design than the cobbled together nature of the OT. Seeing Palpatine play the system like a fiddle is part of what makes him such a compelling bad guy. He's infinitely more interesting than just an old man who zaps people when they're not expecting it. He dupes the Jedi into starting his war while directing both sides of it and then makes the Jedi the fall guys when it ends, all of which contributes to Anakin being fed up and seduced by a darker path. Sure the acting and dialogue is cheesy at times, but on the other hand Ewan McGregor, Liam Neeson, Samuel Jackson, Christopher Lee and Ian McDiarmid among others turn in fantastic work for a kids movie in spite of Lucas. The military battles in AOTC and Revenge are insane, the lightsaber battles in all PT movies are technically superior and more energetic than all the OT ones, the music is fantastic and if you're anything like my son and his friends the clones are the highlight of the entire franchise. There's a lot that was done very well in those movies and for those reasons I can't write them off as trash. And certainly one thing that I never felt while watching them that I did while watching Force Awakens was "I've seen this movie before". That alone is worth a lot of brownie points to me. And if the rumours about Episode VIII are true, you're going to have to reconcile yourselves to this era as Hayden Christensen and Ewan McGregor are coming back in a plot twist that comes right out of these movies.

  40. To obtain a price match with TRU, the item MUST be in stock. Argos T&C state it must be at that price on that day. Print a copy of the T&C to have it handy for Argos,

  41. Reduces the shipping costs by quite a bit to buy more than 1. You also have to follow through to the end to see the price because the advertised price of £74.97 includes VAT (the European tax). When you enter a North American shipping address, VAT will be subtracted from the price. Then when you enter two, you will see your shipping costs only go up by a couple bucks making the cost per unit go down. There is usually a sweet spot on the # per order and depends on box size... For the Crawler Crane it must be two!

  42. I'm sure someone will be able to get you a picture, but here's what I would suggest you tell them. "I appreciate your concern, but all large boxes such as the LEGO 10228 Haunted House are sealed using 2 tape seals on each end. This allows LEGO to seal boxes in a way that builders can open them without destroying the box. Only the smallest boxes use punch tabs for opening the boxes. Each tape seal has a code on it that shows the date it was packed at the LEGO factory. If you are not satisfied, you can return the sealed set for a full refund - at your own cost and minus the original shipping fee. A refund will not be issued until I receive the set and verify that it is in the condition I sent it." Then you wait... if they choose to send it back, great. Don't give them that refund until you have it in your hands.... and unfortunately you should now open it to verify the contents. Don't worry, it won't be worth any less open... maybe a couple bucks, but that's worth your peace of mind isn't it? If they open a case with eBay, just keep it honest. No name calling, cite your positive feedback all around, etc. Return Fraud is a real thing, but in reality it will help you very little here unless the buyer has had multiple complaints against them to their local police department. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Return_fraud

  43. I know you have mentioned this before but I would stay away from mentioning deals you get from shady sources. If it's too good to be true, and not available to the general public, you can bet it is either: a. fake or a scam, b. obtained by illegal means.

  49. On the topic of buying HH even now at 2x or more MSRP: Phase 1: My son got interested in Lego 7 months ago. I hadn't so much as looked at a Lego in 20 years. All I knew was he desperately wanted new Lego passenger train. We bought and built it together, along with station. Phase 2: I thought "wow this is so cool! These sets are WAY better than they were in my day!" Phase 3: I go online and start looking at what else Lego makes. I stumble onto Haunted House on Lego SAH (it was still up with a SO tag). Jaw drops. Heart rate increases. Phase 4 (also known as the self-denial phase): I do my research, see it is seeing on eBay for almost $400, and show my wife the set, but promise I would never spend $400 on a Lego set (because THAT would be crazy). Phase 5 (also known as "emersion from dark ages" syndrome. Also known as the angry wife phase): I buy a brand new HH for $350 shipped. It arrives in beautiful shape. Wife finds out. (Domestic episode deleted from post). The point of this whole diatribe was that the HH was the one and only retired set I just could never live without. I can pass on all the old Star Wars stuff, pirate ships, TH, FB, whatever. But this was a "biological imperative" - there was no way my heart/head combo was ever going to let me live a life that didn't contain the Lego 10228. I would have paid $500. Today I would pay $600 if I had to (and didn't own it). There is something magical about this set and I feel very strongly that there are THOUSANDS of people out about to have their ownHH moment in the next several years. This set will hit $500 two months, eclipse the Town Hall by October 2016, and leave TH in the dust in 2017. Just watch and mark my words. (Phase 6: new guy thinks he's smart enough to lay down epic predictions at 4:00am cuz he can't sleep)
